Before he rides off into the Costa Rician sunset, Premier Pallister is going to lock down Manitobans good and hard one last time. 

Pallister announced today that all provincial employees who work with vulnerable populations will need to be fully immunized for COVID-19 by October 31st, or undergo regular testing, to protect Manitoba against a fourth COVID-19 wave.

In addition, the province will put indoor mask requirements in place across Manitoba in the coming days, including in schools, and will expand the list of activities and services that can only be accessed if an individual is fully immunized.

“These steps are necessary to protect children in Manitoba, avoid another lockdown, and keep our health-care system safe from a fourth wave of COVID-19 and the dangerous delta variant,” says Pallister. “Despite having among the highest rates of vaccination in Canada, children in Manitoba are not yet eligible for the vaccine and we have to take every step we can to protect them from this virus, especially as they prepare to return to the classroom this fall.”

The new public health orders will require all designated provincial public service workers who have ongoing contact with vulnerable populations, especially children, to be fully immunized or submit to testing up to three times per week.

Of the 872,586 Manitobans considered fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days after the second shot) as of Sunday, just 47 have ended up requiring hospitalization. The province has seen 444 breakthrough infections in fully vaccinated individuals, with 55 of those infected with the delta variant.

Children have never been a vulnerable population but why should that stop anyone.

There have been 444 cases of COVID-19 that have been considered breakthrough infections, according to the province.

The numbers, accurate to Sunday, show those 444 cases coming in 872,586 Manitobans who are considered fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days following their second shot), for a breakthrough rate of 0.05%. It’s an increase of 42 breakthrough infections from last week’s figures.

Fifty-five of those breakthrough infections among fully immunization individuals are attributed to the delta variant, while 255 total are linked to variants of concern.

In total, 11 deaths have been reported among the fully vaccinated, including two in their 60s and nine aged 70 and over.

      No one wanted to give Trump credit for the vaccine, but comments like yours suggest that may be changing… but not to give credit. Instead to lay blame. I will be in that camp.

    5. It doesn’t really matters how well the vaccines seem to work. The underlying issue is whether there are long term effects to taking them (we already know that there are acute adverse reactions; myocarditis and pericarditis, while not very common, are real adverse effects). Wake up, dude! When government puts a gun to your head and tells you that your informed consent and your autonomy as a person mean sh@t, and that you gotta cave… uhhh… get vaccinated, something really sinister is going on. I’m in BC, and I am having a real swell time learning in a very practical way how the Japanese felt in BC around 1942; how some first nation parents felt when the kiddies were sent to residential schools; how black folk felt not being allowed here and there during Jim Crow. So, sure, celebrate that the f@cking goo works for now, but taking the jab, nah. I’ll remain a filthy leper, an untouchable, until the heavy arm of totalitarianism has my neck on a choke.       2. Agreed. My family is at a crossroads. My grown kids are about to loose jobs because of this. I, and my wife will not get the dose. My kids understand the science, or lack there of, but the pressure on them is intense. To be in your 20s and not be able to travel the world for work… the evil (no other word) in this is unbelievable. I’ve lost multiple 30 year + friends over my conviction that kids and young people should not be getting mRNA treatments. I have faith that eventually people will stop taking the blue pill… but every day is a test of the stupid. Hold fast, stay strong, and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.     8. Not till the FDA wrap up their ongoing investigations into the extraordinarily high incidences of myocarditis and pericarditis, as per their own documentation. In addition, they are requiring more analysis on the long term effects of myocarditis and pericarditis.

      We have no actual idea of the underlying incidence rate of myocarditis and pericarditis among the male vaccinated group.

      Only the most severe cases are presented. Cool. But underlying myocarditis is a tciking bomb…

      Average approval time for an actual vaccine (not clinical facilitation device) with the FDA: 7-10 years.

      The jabbed are definitely a danger to the unjabbed and since there are more unjabbed than jabbed we need to isolate the two groups. We could move the jabbed to an island and provide for their needs.
      Just remember that little salient fact. More of us than them, and as we all learned earlier this month, you don’t need an F-15.

    6. I can certainly accept that the Israelis and the MSM are panicking over rising case numbers. What’s more curious is the insistence on this booster shot. “Around 1.5 million Israelis have already received a third booster shot, which a recent Maccabi Healthcare Services study found was 86 percent effective in preventing COVID-19 infection among people 60 and older.”

      The critical question: 86% for how long? Most people believed that the current vaccine was 98% effective for years. We are now finding out that effectiveness is measured in months. Why is no one in authority clarifying this claim? Are they too wrapped up with cheer leading to be honest with people?

    Let me see if I understand this properly. Person A feels that they need the vaccine to be protected, so they get vaccinated. However, Person A doesn’t feel protected unless Person B also gets the vaccine. And if Person B refuses to get the vaccine, Person A shames them until they do.

    Let’s take this a step further. Person A, who is vaccinated, can still catch and transmit the virus, but is not subjected to going through daily/weekly testing. Person B, who is not vaccinated, and who can catch and transmit the virus, has to go through daily/weekly testing and potential quarantine. Why does Person A not have to go through testing and quarantine if they can still catch and transmit the virus?

    And to go even further than that: Person A is vaccinated and, even though they can catch and transmit the virus, can walk into any number of locations that state they will only allow the vaccinated inside. Person B is not vaccinated and, even though they may test negative for the virus, are not allowed inside any of the locations that state they will only allow the vaccinated inside.

    Wanna piece this together now? It boils simply down to segregation and discrimination with no real basis for doing so.

    1. Person A is vaccinated.
    2. Person B is not vaccinated.
    3. Both Person A and Person B can catch and transmit the virus.
    4. Person A does not have to get tested, but Person B does.
    5. Person A can go wherever they want, but Person B cannot.
    6. Person A is allowed to live their lives, while Person B cannot.
    7. Person A perpetuates the shaming of Person B by stating that Person B needs to be vaccinated for Person A to be protected.

    Anybody disagree with anything I just said? You do? Then go look this up because this is all fact. Nothing I typed above is untrue; you need only read the news to see that this is exactly what is happening.

    If your shot works, why do I need one? If your shot doesn’t work, why should I get one?
