  1. Heh, OJ, good on you!
You say “global warming” and not the now preferred “climate change” (which implicitly admits no significant warming).
Let’s all of us, all the time, stick with “global warming” so that they can get in touch with their inner idiocy as the imminent mini ice age arrives.

  2. Reading that article, I realized I had no idea who the UN Secretary General was. And I’ve already forgotten his/her/their/xir name.
    It’s better that way.

    1. Pretty cool how China, through the United Nations, can scream Climate Emergency that Trudeau jumps to and does a great deal of damage to our lives while China just acknowledge there is a problem while doing the opposite in real life.

Inflation to the moon will also ensure that is too expensive to do.
Certainly a retarded avenue they’ve chosen to take the country on.

  3. There is a part of me that wants OJ’s headline to be true. Because I believe that the ONLY issue in the next election will be the fitness of one J. Trudeau and his unhappy band of enablers for office. An issue his helpers in the fourth estate are ignoring. He and they face a dilemma: this issue is not going to go away and will, as the impact of his ineptitude become more than just the butt of water cooler jokes across the land, increasingly bite into livelihoods and lifestyles. Their electoral prospects can only darken as we move forward.

Do they gamble on the path that seems to be evolving: a snap election now, trusting that a choice between a Doffus and an O’Doffus will break in favour of the devil we all know?

Or will the fear-of-being-afraid that has been the stock in trade of the covid madness cause the Cottage King to demure in favour of two or three more years of pushing as much of his Marxist social agenda as he can; before exiting the stage as the ceiling crashes in?

I don’t think that the country can afford the latter, so maybe, just maybe that is what the O’Doffus is playing for: to get him out of the cottage and into the ring.

If Trudeau and crowd want to believe that Canada or the world is burning up; that either can survive without fossil fuels; and that this issue will motivate a majority of voters, that is fine with me. If it brings an early opportunity to put his record to the test. And I think that the O’Doffus and the voters may surprise us all when they get the chance.

  4. They overplayed their hand. From the first days of public opinion tracking of this issue in the early 1990s, global warming always came dead last in terms of public concern even just among environmental issues. Far larger concerns here always were with things like clean water, air pollution (the real kind). And all of this was very much in the shade of much larger public concerns about health care, the economy, jobs and even human rights issues.

And this public indifference prevailed regardless of brand changes. Global warming became climate change, became catastrophic climate change, etc. Hence there’s increasing panic among the warmistas that a real crisis might have demolished their fake crisis. For them, there’s a real threat that UNFCCC COP21 might produce absolutely nothing, same as all the previous ones.

So now the catastrophists are played out. Now the public has real concerns before them: principally C-19 and the havoc various governments have wrought in supposedly fighting it. Suddenly the world is seemingly bankrupt of the ability to fund the warmista’s schemes for climate engineering or gigantic energy revolutions. Worse, if it’s got to the point where nothing can be done, why do anything about the warmistas’ schemes anyway? After all, if you’ve already blown through any number of their “tipping points”, what’s the point of doing anything they demand?

    1. I wish that were true. I think that the Canadian Eloi have bought into the CAGW hysteria scam. Although it is not unique, the Conservatives are even offering their “LPC policy 249 (me too)” version of “climate change is real” (sorry, MND).
While the developing world, including China, is currently constructing 600 new coal-fired power plants, we, in a (cold and spread-out) country whose electrical production is 83% non-emitting are pimping-up hysteria to reduce prosperity and bring on energy poverty to atone for others thanks to the Spawn’s buddy, one-jerk think tank and green zealot. The Spawn, being an empty vessel is actually blameless. The fascists and socialist have cloaked in green and in Canada, it sells, even to so-called conservatives.

      1. John, over 30 years of watching this file, I’ve never seen the numbers change. Remember, party policies are determined by what’s needed to bring in the last few % to take you over the top. The party base doesn’t matter much; they’re trapped as they can hardly vote for the opposition which they loathe.

Get out more; talk with more people. Most folks don’t care about deep ethereal issues like CAGW. That has nothing to do with putting food on the table and a roof over heads. We are now in a Depression, a deep one. And just like the last one in the 1930s, those tend to focus people’s minds on what truly matters, not this airy-fairy shit of which only a handful of ivory tower twats get truly excited. Of course the Canadian legacy media is spewing out the propaganda bullshit of CAGW. So what? Take a look at the last century of Time’s Person of the Year. Look at the list of names and ponder the list for a moment.
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Person_of_the_Year

The media has usually idolized the contemporary fascist “Fashion Statement of the Day”. Modern CAGW is no different. It’s a scheme fascists of all types love and adore. Every legacy media toady secretly longs for the day when they too can be the Dictator Twat at the Top. Speaking of vapid twats, remember whom Justin admires most.

          1. That says nothing about comparative environmental issues. It also says nothing about global warming contrasted with other issues. It’s Abacus, hence it’s only a push poll, just Liberal propaganda.

  5. I am so happy that the end has come – nothing we do now can reverse the direction to our inevitable demise. So now the carbon taxes (there are many) can be cancelled, our money refunded, an end to sending our money to various parts of the world, etc., because we are too late. We have waited too long. The end is here. Good. Now can we please have these doom machines shut up?

  6. Why worry? We are only 100 seconds away from Doomsday midnight … good nite and good luck … perhaps Gaia will accept you with open arms? Welcome to Turtle Island!

So eat, drink, and be merry. And run the national deficits higher and higher! Hand out more money. We’re all gonna be dead in slightly more than a minute and a half anyway …

  7. Rex is incorrect.

IPCC actually stands for “International Pack of Climate Crooks.”

  8. Did you ever have a car with a mechanical problem when you were a teenager and still pretty stupid and you were sure you could fix it? A mountain of expensive parts later you finally figured out that the issue was a loose wire all along.
That’s global warming. They still can’t prove, no they cannot, that a few extra ppm of CO2 in the air is changing anything
and they’re willing do drain our bank accounts and screw up our standard of living to fix a problem they don’t know the cause of or if it even is a problem.

    1. Ding! Ding! Ding!
      We Have A Winner!
Musical Bum You Are Spot On!
      Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!
      Excellent Analysis!
      You Are Absolutely Correct!!

  9. All this means is they will have another Accord, perhaps in Canada to renew commitments. That’s all they ever do.

  10. The weaker the case gets, the more alarmed the CAGW rent seekers get. The heat is on them, not the earth.
30 years of failed predictions equals a disproved hypothesis. The certainty of its predictions is in the range of 1/3, iow random.

  11. Humans are a small input in CO2 emissions, but the 50-fold higher natural emissions have no input in temperature change?
Temperatures are the highest in 100,000 years? By what metric, Mann’s flattened fake hockey stick scrubbing out the MWP?
Funny how ice core samples show temperature correlates directly with solar activity and cycles. Just a coincidence?
Sure, along with their solutions all coincidentally giving collectivists more power, wealth and influence.
You see even though humans are a miniscule contributor to CO2, which is a miniscule GHG on earth, they cause all warming.
And of course the “solution” is to eliminate fossil fuels immediately, except in China, India or for the apparatchiks’ private jets.
That it’s called the “Intergovernmental Panel” on Climate Change tells you all you need to know about this collectivist scam.
The true alarm is the statists and collectivists losing their grip on their junk science (which the public never believed).
The weaker their case gets, the more observations disprove their collectivist conclusions, the more serious their emergency.

  12. Current CO2 levels are too low. Plant pores are wide open trying to absorb CO2. The open pores also allow the water in the plant to evaporate so the plants are not drought resistant, and prone to easily burn. Raise the amount of CO2 in the air, the plant pores can close in, because the plants are no longer starving. The closed in pores also keep the water that is in the plant, in the plant, now they are more drought, and fire resistant.

  13. “Like an Aristophanes satire, like Hamlet, it opens with two slaves, spear-carriers, little people. Footsoldiers of history, two researchers in a corrupt and impoverished mid-90s Russia schlep through the tundra to take core samples from trees at the behest of the bigger fish in far-off East Anglia. Stepan and Rashit don’t even have their own e-mail address and like characters in some absurdist comedy must pass jointly under the name of Tatiana M. Dedkova. Conscientious and obliging, they strike a human note all through this drama. Their talk is of mundane material concerns, the smallness of funds, the expense of helicopters, the scramble for grants. They are the ones who get their hands dirty, and their vicissitudes periodically revived my interest during the slower stretches of the tale, those otherwise devoted to abstruse details of committee work and other longueurs. ‘We also collected many wood samples from living and dead larches of various ages. But we were bited by many thousands of mosquitos especially small ones.’ They are perhaps the only likeable characters on the establishment side, apart from the exasperated and appalled IT man Harry in the separate ‘Harry_read_me’ document, and I cheered up whenever they appeared. ‘Slaves’ is horseshit, and ‘footsoldiers’ insulting, but if scientists are allowed to put a creative spin on facts, I can certainly do so. They are respected scientists: in fact, it emerges, eminent or destined to be eminent. But they talk funny and are at the beck and call of CRU, are financially dependent on them; when the film is made they will be comedy relief, played by Alexei Sayle and the dopey one out of The Fast Show.”
