This is not terribly accurate. By the time Britain outlawed slavery in 1934 throughout the British Empire, slavery in Canada had long since ceased.
In 1793, Upper Canada (southern Ontario) abolished slavery.
In the 1790s, Lower Canada (Quebec) courts ruled that slaves could not be compelled to remain with their masters.
By 1810, slavery had pretty much ended in Nova Scotia due to a series of court decisions against it.

A few years ago my wife and I visited Fort St. John in B.C. The helpful guide who gave us a tour of the Fort was a local, aboriginal woman. At one point, while explaining the native economy in the days before non-natives showed up, she volunteered that slavery was widely practiced among West Coast tribes before the Europeans put an end to it.

If you look at a map of the world, and look at the north American continent as a whole, you will see that with Alaska as the head, and Mexico and central America as the left flipper, the right flipper out be out to the northern tip of Ellesmere Island just north of Greenland, you will see the very defined shape of a giant turtle. Now I don’t know if this is the true reference to “Turtle Island”, but it would seem logical to me. Anyone care to comment further on this aspect?
