Going on two weeks (give or take a day) of zero COVID deaths despite a 39% vaccination rate and the lowest mask compliance on the continent.

I’m going to take a wild guess from looking at all this that they did their best to look after the vulnerable and then let things rip for people who had little to no risk from the disease. These low to no risk people now likely have broad based natural immunity. Just my guess though.

  5. Overwhelmed hospitals and death is imminent, “experts” warn us, those wrong most of the time but right some of the time.
    We must flatten the curve. The delta variant stays in your nose and it’s very deadly, no wait, transmissible, umm very weak.
    The only question is – what curve? Cases but not deaths. Funny how cases rise independent of shutdowns and mask mandates.
    Not funny? Let’s not quibble over data, facts and efficacy. People are not dying, but they will be. Soon. We all die, so mask up.
    Vaccines don’t work properly, Fauxci says you can still “shed the virus.” So get vaccinated, fascist, to alleviate our ignorant fear.
    That makes sense? Not.

    We would have been better off,in every measurable way,including deaths,with no government help.
    Without all the fear mongering,mass hysteria and propaganda,most of us would not even have noticed the Wuhan Flu.
    The Dread Covid Pandemic ,is as accurate as CBC news..And about as real as Emperor’s Justine’s Integrity..
    The massive majority of citizens killed by Covid,were those trapped in direct government care..The death rate for citizens who escaped government help,is tiny..
    The collapse of the real economy,by direct government command,while the parasitic overload tripled their expensive waste and destruction..Oh right..”We are all in this together”..
    And now the Government Goo,seems to be killing and crippling people who had next to zero risk from the Dread Covid..

    Help like this cannot go unrewarded.
    Firing them all is far too civilized for the situation we find ourselves in..
    What takes me over the Top,is the arrogance and hubris..
    So many of these murderous thugs truly believe that what they have done,defeated the viral spread…
    These are the same “experts” who cannot stop the spread of invasive plants,animals,humans or contraband..But they “Stopped” a virus..Using totalitarian theatre and mass virtue signalling.

    Now they fight to hold the power invoking an emergency gained them.

    The conditions for a cull are perfect.

    I don’t know what level of vaccinations immunizations to the rapidly evolving spike protein is too high, but if the Swedes aren’t careful, they’ll undo all their hard work.

    Between the resistant variants produced by the “vaxed” and ADE caused by antibodies generated in “vaxed” individuals, they may have a surge in cases and deaths, that’s unrelated to their less strict approach. Then all we’ll hear is “see, we told you the Swedish were doing it wrong.”

  8. Others would argue that the countries immediately surrounding Sweden (Norway, Finland etc.) had much better statistics than Sweden and did go into full lockdown. This suggests that the herd immunity concept wasn’t the saving grace. Likely it is a genetic make-up of those in that part of the world….or perhaps a cultural behavior that adds certain nutrients to their make up which works against the severity of the virus.

    1. Here’s some food for thought. Vitamin D is supposed to lower the severity of Covid. Sweden centers most of their entrees around what is referred to as cultured dairy products. Do the math.

    2. It’s already well known that Sweden had very minor influenza outbreaks from 2018 and 2019 whereas they were more severe in the other Nordic countries, but you’re right that there are other factors at work.

      1. I view progressiveness in terms of stupidity…such as your comment. How about a couple more examples… Japanese and French have lower coronary issues than the UK or the US… No one knows for sure why that is…but it is assumed that it has to do with long term diet…Japanese (fish) French (red wine). Incidentally, Sweden is in the very lowest percentile of diabetes worldwide. Guess who has the biggest problem with diabetes? That would be China.

    4. Well they might argue that but they are wrong. The main reason why Sweden had higher case and death rates is because it had a much higher influx of migrants and the virus ran through that demographic much like it did in northeast Calgary.

    1. They lifted it the exact date the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom was supposed to provide full data on how AHS justified the lock down. They have admitted in another case they have no data. I think they were forced to stop the nonsense.

      Meanwhile in Manitoba the same date is set for some time in the fall and we have vaccine passports.

  13. Won’t the other side argue that this is because Sweden killed off all their vulnerable (at-risk groups) during the prior waves? This is an honest question. Do we know how Sweden has fared overall for death rates as compared with other countries? Apologies if I’m being thick.

      1. See the thing is most people who move into long term residents are going to die soon anyway of whatever put them in the home anyway. They don’t call it God’s Waiting Room for nothing. It’s only since COVID came along that the media seems to have decided everyone should never die and if they do die, it’s only due to COVID and it was preventable if only more people had masked and vaccinated.

        1. That’s great, but if someone protests that death counts in Swedish long term care homes are wildly up one year compared to the average, or as compared with other countries in the same predicament during that year, then they’ll have made a point.

    2. That graph goes all the way back to Feb 2020, and death appear to have peaked briefly at 100/day. California’s deaths peaked at 500/day, so i am not sure about your theory.

      1. Well that’s because you are focused on the Wuhan virus and have ignored other realities. One of which is that the excess deaths in Sweden has always been lower than the U.S.

        And currently, the excess deaths in Sweden is -8%….the UK is +6%. The excess death rate in Sweden has been lower than Finland throughout 2021. The excess death rate in Denmark is currently +12%.

    3. My post is currently being vetted I guess but Sweden is #39 in the world for deaths per 1M while the USA is #21, whatever Sweden did it was better than 38 other countries. California did worse than Sweden at 1628 deaths per 1M while Sweden is at 1438. Check out Worldometer for coronavirus data.

    4. You are not taking into account how many people died from the effects of the lockdowns. If you compare Canada versus Sweden and add in lockdown deaths we have double the number of deaths as Sweden.

  15. 1) Sweden uses provisional data for deaths and possibly new cases too. This means it can take weeks or even months for deaths to register. Most countries record deaths when they are reported. Deaths reported today might’ve occured yesterday. Or a week ago. You can’t find that kind of data for Sweden.

    2) Sweden benefits from a luxury that nobody else has: the highest rate of single person households.

  16. Partially vaccinated 62%. Infections markedly drop ten days after the first dose. Sweden’s COVID deaths per million is ten times that of neighboring Norway and about three times that of Denmark. They certainly have gained some herd immunity for all of those deaths. Nobody is denying that.

    California with an open border to Mexico is simply not comparable.

  18. the equation is the derivative of the curve. a flattened curve has the same area as a steep curve. as long as there is yeast (virus) or sugar (people ) the curve will play out , there is no cure . all lead to the same endpoint around 1:50000. odds anyone should have played for free

  19. This sight enables comparisons per capita, from the beginning of the pandemic. California sits at 162.8 deaths from Covid-19 per 100,000. Sweden sits at 141.8 deaths from Covid-19 per 100,000. Of course ‘from’ Covid-19 and ‘with’ Covid-19 likely require scrutiny in both places.

    The deaths in Sweden are at a much higher rate than neighboring countries. HOW each country is measuring likely needs to be considered.

  23. Actually, the Swedes are the first to admit that they did NOT do well by their elderly in long term care. The virus did get into those homes and there were a lot of deaths. Also, migrant areas suffered. However, on other fronts, the Swedes did succeed in keeping things going without lockdowns and other brutal measures.
    Anyway, when discussing Covid deaths, more attention needs to be paid to those who died “because of Covid”: those whose heart surgeries and procedures were postponed; heart and stroke victims who couldn’t get access to the family doctor or a walk-in clinic; the seniors who – placed in what was essentially solitary confinement – just gave up; the suicides; the drug overdoses. And we will need to take note of the increased cancer deaths because people couldn’t get access to doctors for diagnosis, let alone get the necessary surgeries and other treatments

I agree with Frances about the “collateral damage” that was caused by the bad gov’t reactions, loss of jobs, loss of small businesses, loss of homes and all the other non-fatal outcomes which will affect people for decades. Not to mention Canada’s debt going from 741 Billion to 1.2 Trillion. Trudeau senior started the national debt on its rise and Trudeau junior finished it off. I note that Stats Canada doesn’t talk about drug overdoes anymore – its “accidental poisoning”. All this for a disease with a 99.8% survival rate, I think we have all been played.

  25. How are they coming up with a 39% vaccination rate? Most of the bars on that blue bar graph are in the 80% range.

    – Sweden: 1438
    – Canada: 698

    vaccination rates in canad will see that number fall going forward. Sweden, who knows?
