  1. Haha. Not so fast. Dicktater Mayor Nenshi and his sycophants are calling for an extension, because. Other municipalities including Edmonton (!) and Banff have said, “ENOUGH”!

    1. Yup it’s a too hot, orange coloured, all-mask all the time guiltlag here in comrade Nenshi’s Utopia.

      1. We have a business in Montana near Glacier National Park.

We just put up this sign on the entrance: “Due to security reasons no masks are allowed in this store.”

All we have gotten are cheers, laughter and high fives including from doctors and RN’s. The Chinese Communist Flu is done. It’s over.

      2. alecincgy – Nenshi is paranoid about COVID because it has a disproportionate effect on obese people.

  2. Unfortunately, the business community is “hanging on” with mask directives. Customers, on the other hand…99% mask free. Saw a couple of individuals wear theirs. This is small-town Alberta. We will find out about the city on Monday.

    1. Exactly. Numbskull Nenshi and his minions want to make sure that dreaded “Whatever is the latest mutated Virus” won’t run rampant amongst the politicians in the city because of the deplorables in the population aren’t wearing masks, which are completely useless against a virus. I would like to ram a mask up his fat ass with a Louisville slugger, but won’t, because I’m afraid he will like it so much I won’t be able to get him to stop trying to contact me.

      1. My wife and I went to a CT in YYC today, maskless, close to Neshi’s part of the city. 95% were still paranoid but we didn’t care. Had a pleasant shopping experience, paid for our stuff and then snickered at all the rest walking into the store, still all diapered up. Sobeys and Safeway don’t care either, but don’t try a Co-op grocery store!

    2. Sad to say a lot of sheeple still masked up, even outdoors. I guess they just can’t let go of that sense of self importance just yet.
On the positive side, my wife and I had a blast crashing around, mask less while the mask people frantically skittered out of our two meter radius.
I can’t see what these folks are scared of. Anyone wearing a mask for no reason can’t have that much of a life anyway.

      1. On the contrary John!
Most of these sheeple lead extremely boring and unfulfilling lives. The Chinese Flu is the most exciting thing to have ever happened to them!
They dream of telling their grandchildren of their great sacrifice and how they narrowly escaped death but struggled through to the end despite all the evil people who wouldn’t follow orders!
        Such is our world.

  3. There are still stores in Kelowna that are mandating them. They have been allowed the choice. We just won’t go there.

Of those that aren’t requiring them, at least 90% of patrons are still wearing masks. 60% in the farm supply store.

  4. I manage a Shoppers Drug Mart in the Vancouver burbs. All non-pharmacy staff is masked under directive of the company with working in close quarters (funny thing is they are all jabbed). Other staff are mostly mask-free. I would say over 90% of customers are still wearing masks. And I’ve heard the comment that it is because people are still unvaccinated or only one shot. So sad.

    1. Vanc.Burbs.. Pub yesterday, staff were wearing snot rags.. Pissy at me for going naked.. Eyedocs today
      .. Masks there.

  5. Came up to Edmonton to help my son on a fence project. Into many stores, some with masks, but not us!!!!

    1. I stopped by the rental office at my apartment complex earlier today. The mask sign had been taken down. After that, I went over to the nearby Safeway. Its sign was still up, but I wore mine as sloppily as possible.

  6. I’m still cynical on how long our newfound “Freedom” will last, knowing the absolute tyrants in the government they’ll snap it back the moment “muh numbers” show any sign of increasing

    1. That will be when flu season hits in the fall.
It will be interesting to see how the 2 jab ” vaccinated ” sheep handle ADE when the cold viruses start floating around.

      1. You know they will pin it on the unvaccinated. The people inside the TV with their “experts” will report with a strait face ADE is just a conspiracy theory but those unvaccinated are spreading the virus. Just like the VAERS numbers from the CDC are just a conspiracy theory today.

        1. VAERS just reports around 1 %.
Can you imagine what the real totals are ?
          Mind numbing.

The fallout from this shit show is going to be staggering.
Shortage of workers, supply shortages, missing people at key infrastructure installations and on and on.

  7. The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms was supposed to get the data justifying the lockdowns from the Alberta Health Services people by July. Instead they threw open the jail on the pastors, released the confiscated churches and are acting like it’s all good now.

Until the Delta variant comes along of course.

And then there is the old stock Canadian white supremacist type named Umar Zameer who has just been charged with murdering a police officer in Toronto.

  8. Decent number of stores don’t require them here in Victoria but 90% of people are still wearing them. I’m hoping more and more stop wearing them soon.

    1. Wish the places I go in Victoria would follow suit to where you go James! A local coffee shop I have been spending about $40 a month in for ten years would not let me in without a mask, worried about Facebook comments. Next door at the corner store which allows only one person at a time in and which I have been going to almost every day for 40 years would not let me in without a mask. Then off to a local “head” shop for specialized rolling papers where I have been going for years, same thing…I went home before I did something that would have gotten me in the hoosegow overnight. I told each place I will never spend another penny in their establishments, they didn’t seem to care, how typically Canadian! I should mention that the private sector weed store was happy to let me in. Off to the my grocery store today, hope I can get in, might be driving around alot as there are plenty of grocery stores….sure hope I don’t have to resort to Amazon. PS. The number of people still wearing masks is disgusting, even outside.

  9. Lots of masks in Edmonton, including all staff in the stores we were in today. One animal clinic still enforces masks and “by appointment only”. Not going into a store with a mask mandate anymore.

    1. Sounder – perhaps that’s because one positive test amongst the staff means the whole place is totally shut down for ten days. And this holds true even if said staff member has been on vacation long enough that there was no “close contact” with the rest of the crew.

  10. Ventured into the city and went into a couple edmonton stores yesterday. I was pretty much the only person not wearing a mask. Out of maybe 40 or 50 people total myself and maybe 4 others were maskless.

I know Edmonton is likely a bad example, being so full of govt cheque takers.

  11. I just ran some errands in my nearby small Alberta town. A few observations:

    1. I only saw two middle-aged ladies on the street wearing masks. All employees and other residents were maskless. No one bothered anyone else for masks being on/off.

    2. Everyone was DELIGHTED. Many conversations between strangers talking about how wonderful it was to see faces and smiles. I can’t remember when I last had such friendly service from every clerk, and just chatted with fellow shoppers.

    3. Businesses were hopping. It felt like the whole town came out to the shops.

It’s been the nicest trip to civilization I’ve taken in a while.

    1. I concur. Just came from the local grocery store. Complete strangers are expressing their relief. Smiles all around!!!

  12. I was just in Crossiron Mills (a very busy mall just outside Calgary city limits). I’d say that masked vs maskless was about 50/50. It appears that many stores require or ask for them – Bass Pro doesn’t.

  13. Central Vancouver Island here. About 90-95% of the people in the three stores I went into were still wearing masks. But it was good to see a few other free-breathers. I had no grief from any store staff for not wearing one.

    1. Keep not wearing it. It’s important for NPCs to see that it’s okay to go back to normal life. No cases on the island again today or yesterday.

    2. Yes ET, here on the Island, life is full of farleft, obedient, fearful sheep.

Went to Walmart and the Liquor store yesterday, proudly with a naked face, while almost every person in the stores were fully diapered.

I couldn’t believe it., yet it is believable….

  14. So far awesome in Edmonton. Haven’t run into any stores that require mask yet. Some are still wearing the mask. Their choice and don’t care as long as none of them have something to say too me for not wearing one.

  15. I celebrated Dominion Day by going to Home Depot to buy some clamps to re-glue some delaminating kitchen counter.
sans mask, but about 80% still had masks in the store.

Some were still wearing masks on the street, where regular sunlit radiation would zap any virus, go figure.

Went to the liquor store to buy a flat of beer, sans mask, without issue.

I knew that the masks were completely bogus.

Wearing a mask/shield in a clinical setting is sensible for a plethora of other reasons; ie flying particulate, saliva, blood etc.

Also from a physics point of view the interstitial spacing between the atoms of your garden variety mask is way too large for ANY coronavirus. In short, from the virus point of view, the mask is a giant sieve.

But, but the delta, episilon, eta, theta, … omega variant will “get you”!!

I’d rather take vitamin D, C, zinc, on a daily basis.

    Cheers

    1. Throw in some horse paste for good measure too.
      That stuff is the bomb.

  16. Went to a ball game last night. Maybe one or two masks out of the crowd of maybe 500? Glorious!!!
Bulls beat the Prospects too with some stellar pitching!

  17. Monday June 28: BC ferries to Langdale and then Saltery Bay insist on masks INSIDE and OUT. Ignored since completely ridiculous outside.

Thursday July 1: (after “restrictions” “”removed””): BC ferries from Saltery and Langdale insist on masks INSIDE and OUT. Also ignored, though most complied.
In neither case did ferry staff bother with us.

Note: OUT means standing or sitting outside on deck in full hot sun with stiff breeze. These variants are TOUGH!

M_C and JB are correct: we’re gonna learn the entire Greek alphabet. Then there’s
the Hebrew. And, oboy, the chinese – we’ll never run out!

  18. Went to a local Lowe’s in NW Calgary this morning for plumbing supplies, no face diaper on.

Walked about a lot, came towards another maskless gentleman and he looked me square in the eyes. I winked at him with a jovial smile and as he walked past said “enough of this already”. I laughed and said “exactly” out loud, a bit lighter in my steps as I continued down the aisles.

Then I had to ask for some assistance from an associate, he was mid 60’s and fearful. He did not want to help me and could not wait to get away from me. Putz!!

  19. Went to some stores in Prince George today. I’d say at least half the customers were not wearing masks; maybe 3/4 maskless at Princess Auto.
Home Depot was still requiring staff to wear them.
At Home Hardware the staff weren’t.

  20. Meant to add: lots of masked people outside in HOT sun in Lund June 29-30.

On the way back stopped at a restaurant in Pender Harbour where
a large crowd was enjoying July 1 in cooler conditions. Almost all maskless
inside and out except servers. Everyone enjoying themselves and not
heeding the advice of the Dark Prince to be muted and sober because
sometimes people die, including young ones.

  21. Up here on the Sunshine Coast, More than half the pop. is over 55 and almost all have had their 2nd jab. So, basically it’s maybe 1/2 wearing and 1/2 not, indoors.
Outdoors maybe 80+% have embraced their freedom. The majority of shops still have their staff wearing however. Nobody said boo about the clients not wearing.
I went into Lordco this morning and the staff were proudly mask free, and smiling!
The Library still had a ‘Masks Mandatory’ sign up, but you know, they’re a great bunch of employees so if they’re still not comfortable, I’m more than happy to comply. (They’ve bent over backwards for their clientele over the COVID period so it’s a small thing on my part.)

  22. Saw one person in 2 days with a mask. But who knows she could have medical reason’s. When my wife had cancer treatment anybody visiting had to mask up, as she had 0 immune system left.

Store that mandate masks do not need my business and I will make a point to tell them, they lost my business.

  23. Went to a parts store in Airdrie today, all staff I saw were unmasked and the shoppers at the time were massless as well.
I made a comment as well, nice to see everyone’s smiling faces again.
Staff seemed more upbeat than usual.

Had a very nice chat with a young lady at the till, she was not “woke”, happy to see the mask BS go. I praised her on being able to think for herself, she related she still sees people fearful and uneducated, both her age and old.

I might go back and ask her to go for coffee sometime!

  24. Reporting from Kelowna and Lake Country.
I went to the liquor store yesterday, in Winfield, Lake Country, and about half of the dozen folks were still masked up. The others, me included, smiled broadly at each other, and I rued not remembering my dentures. It still felt like a wee reclaiming of liberty, however illusory it may be in the longer run of this regionally dispersed social experimentation.
By contrast, my wife went south to mid city Kelowna to get groceries and reported that fully half were still masked up. Interestingly, those still masked tended to be under 40 or 50, with most grey hairs free of the masks.
This report is accurate 19 times out of 20 or whatever….
    PS….burn your stupid mask.

  25. Went to Cantire today, I was one of about three people in the store without a mask. Went by my favorite gas station, the sign on the door no longer said,”masks mandatory”, but said,”masks recommended” , so I put mine on in case I want to go back and hold the place up some day.

    1. Hah! Even the banks accept “masked men” now! 🙂

      Cheers

  26. A clear majority are still wearing masks in Victoria Westshore. I’m a minority. No stores or business I frequent require them.
If any did, I would unfrequent them forever, the corporatist collectivists they be. In my rental building I said masks recommended.
So far no looks of derision from the masked ones because I’m not paying any attention to them. Waiting on the delta variant.

This fall if cases go up, even if like the UK hospitalizations and deaths, they aren’t tracking “91% of cases are delta,” watch for the apparatchiks reflexively go back to masks and lockdowns, since they work provided they’re not measured against anything at all.

    1. I’m in the same area. Keep unmasked fellow traveler. NPCs need leaders to follow.

  27. Just attended a town fair in Calmar. Saw one mask out of hundreds of people. Some of the fair employees were wearing them…not sure if they were required to or not. Zero social distancing. Kids playing together, and sitting on rides with kids they didn’t know. Good to see.

  28. Victoria: Mask wearing has declined sharply in the residential areas and along the waterfront. Much more common downtown and many businesses are still requiring them (I plan to avoid such establishments as much as possible.) Some places have very ambiguous and conflicting instructions. We went to a big mall on Saturday saw signs say masks were optional, mandatory and recommended. These were mall signs, not individual businesses. We were the only two people in the mall not wearing them. Nobody said anything or seemed concerned. There are a lot of fearful covidians here, so I expect the repellent face rag practice will persist for quite a while.

  29. I’ve spent the entire hoax/debacle in Calgary inner city, I’m 70, diabetic, but was never the least bit concerned about catching a flu. I NEVER wore a mask outside, only wore masks when required by law (in other words at gunpoint). I always went to the gym and worked out during the intervals they were open. Overall I’d say Alberta was pretty good, considering the mass delusions, stupidity and insanity that swept the globe. If the NDP had been in power we probably would have had curfews, lockdowns at home. Lots of Kenney-bashers posting here, he deserves serious bashing for a lot of things, but you’re going to see Premier Rachel again and you’re going to wish Kenney was back. My daughter just told me that Ontario is the only jurisdiction in North America that still has no indoor restaurant dining.

    1. “Lots of Kenney-bashers posting here, he deserves serious bashing for a lot of things, but you’re going to see Premier Rachel again and you’re going to wish Kenney was back.”

So, what’s the thrust here? Reward Kenney’s bad behavior by giving him another mandate and BOHICA? Precisely what lesson does he learn? Screw that. If it takes another round of Red Rachel to get some actual conservatives (dare I dream, separatists?) involved in Alberta politics, so be it. In order to rise up sometimes ya gotta hit rock bottom first.

Prentice lost because he was arrogant and didn’t listen to Albertans. Kenney needs the identical lesson.

      1. Bingo. Cold day in hell before Kenney sees a dollar or a vote from me again. Same goes for all the other agreeable tyrants that is the UCP. WIP will be getting my money and votes.

        1. I still remember the dark days under Rachel. No desire to go there ever again.

          1. Nor I, Chris.

However, there are many who obviously did not learn the lesson.

  30. I think the best thing in the world right now is my neighbor’s are having a big grad party for their son. They told us before hand and we told them to crank it up. So sad what these tyrants did to us.

    1. So are my neighbours in Onterrible (I’m ashamed to admit i live here). I lent them a huge party tent, coolers and a dozen lawn chairs. I’m sure the OPP will raid the festivities in full body armor and this will be headline news. We’ve had exactly zero cases out in my small town for months but we still can’t eat indoors and the basketball nets and ball diamonds are off limits. Cheers

  31. Last two months or so in small town southern Alberta most of the blue collar places I visited (welding shop, auto parts, smaller grocery stores, equipment rental shop, fastener shop, etc.) nobody had on face diapers & didn’t care that mine was in my back pocket.

From the welding shop I got a chunk of angle iron that the owner pulled from scrap steel & just gave me. It was probably worth <$5. I hit the local bakery, spent $13 on a dozen donuts & dropped them off at the welding shop, thanking the owner for the courtesy & for not forcing me to wear a face diaper. It was worth every cent. Been back twice since then, process duplicated both times.

Bigger centers & white collar places (big box stores, doctor's office, etc) masks were required. Dumb Biker's have long memories.

  32. Even here in the “Land of Doug the Thug”, yesterday’s drive around our Lake Huron cottage community revealed a busy main street with almost no face diapers in sight, not sure about in store. I guess everyone must have got their injections.

  33. In larger Sask towns retail workers wear masks as per guidelines and kindly ask customers to comply as well. In businesses and small town retail not many are wearing masks unless a customer they don’t know walks in.
BTW, a 50ish acquaintance was feeling really sick the day after his second jab. He took ivermectin and was feeling fine the next morning.
I’m guessing that in rural Sask, of those who haven’t gotten the jab, 80% have either already had covid or are taking ivermectin prophylaxis (or have some readily available).

  34. We went to the Canada Day fireworks last night in Sherwood Park AB. A great show. It must have been left over fireworks from last year’s cancelled celebration. It ended with “O Canada” with red and white fireworks. It brought tears to my eyes.

Almost no one wore masks. It was a party atmosphere, people seemed to be almost euphoric. It was so nice to see people’s faces smiling and having a great time.

    1. Awesome! Wish we could have done that in Victoria but the Indians won’t allow it.

  35. Atended an afternoon show at a central Calgary Blues Club on Jul 1/21; mask mandate signs on entrance, but bypass to the patio = ok and even main entrance = ok; servers’ faces and customers’ clear, same thing when adjourned to interior for main show. No social distancing, everybody was happy. If AHS had attempted to enforce, there would have been a riot.

  36. Lots of people still wearing masks outside in the lower mainland, and at most restaurants etc. employees are masked. It’s going to be a long process.

  37. Enjoy while it lasts. I believe the tyrants will exercise their “emergency” powers again come the fall. Can’t let the serf enjoy to much freedom. One step back then two steps forward toward their diabolical goals.

  38. CT, AW and Rona in east of Calgary zone. Only AW staff had masks as well as the boomer clients. The CT and rona staff wore grins and glowered at the boomers. Also? Boomers can get survivor tats now too since they survived the boomercaust.

    1. I might get an I survived Trudeau tat if we throw the bitch out! Thanks for the idea!

  39. I have been shopping at SuperStore Saskatoon for some time without a mask with the store sign requiring a mask. Previously and today I am the only one without a mask and no one, no one including staff has made a comment.

  40. Costco in St.Albert, AB yesterday. Very busy and would say that about 70 percent of shoppers still wearing masks. Found it interesting that many of those were in the 20 to 40 year range. No mask for me and no one commented. One store I saw stated only fully vaccinated customers allowed. Wonder if they will be having a staff member ask as you enter. Many others “recommending” that masks be worn.

    1. You dont have to answer any health question from anyone. That is ” patient/doctor confidentiality” . My body my choice! Tell them to MYOB.

  41. Been to Costco, Safeway and IKEA (all in south or southwest Edmonton) over the last two days; any signs saying that masks were mandated were gone, although Costco and IKEA were still “recommending” them. Lots of people in all three stores still wearing masks, though I don’t think the staff were required to do so (one lady behind the deli counter at the Safeway was maskless, for example).

Range of ages for the mask-wearing, but also for the maskless that I saw. I did not wear the face diaper.

  42. I’m on the upper Sunshine coast in BC. I went to the grocery store (Quality Foods) As I grabbed my buggy, a maskless early middle aged woman smiled at me and I said “glad the masks are gone”, she replied, me too, and this is my first time out, and I’m so excited……so excited! We both laughed, and I walked away shaking my head.
Excited to NOT wear a mask for the first time!!!
Jeez, this is what we have allowed them to do to us. She must have a fairly mediocre life!

  43. From an Albertan in Kimberley, BC – it’s great to see most people in stores, coffeeshops, grocery stores and restaurants now without masks. It didn’t take long for people to get back to the “old normal” although there are still a few true believers hiding behind masks outdoors. Increasing number of out-of-province plates in this beautiful mountain village. Yay!!!

  44. Scenes from a local mall:
Touch screen display used to find shops has a note saying it’s turned off for public safety.
Easily 90% of mallers wearing masks.
    People are out and about

  45. Our entire family went to West Edmonton Mall on July 2. My wife and I did not wear masks, but our two teenagers chose to do so. Some stores asked for masks, but most didn’t. I’d estimate that about 60% of the shoppers were wearing masks, 40% were not. Many staff were not wearing masks either.

On another note, my optometrist’s office is still demanding masks inside for the next two weeks. I’m guessing they are waiting to see where the numbers go. I suspect those stores in the mall asking for masks are being similarly cautious.
