  3. Neither side will change their mind at this point. The vaccine enthusiastic crowd ignores and minimizes all adverse reactions and virus breakthroughs that infect the fully vaccinated. The vaccine cautious people want to wait and see what new “rare” side effects occur and question whether the “benefits outweigh the risks” for them. It’s now a stalemate, imo.

    On the “benefits outweigh the risks” point – shouldn’t the calculation for each serious adverse reactions be calculated as a cumulative risk. The risk of blood clots + bells palsy + heart inflammation + organ damage+….

      This winter‘s flu and cold season will tell a story, as our immune systems operate as expected. This will be the real story whether the dose is truly safe. This is the ultimate reason for my own wait and see approach. No long term testing, therefor not proven

  4. Another point that intrigues me is the use of behavioral science to get people to take an experimental vaccine for a disease with such a low case fatality rate and where the fatalities were heavily skewed to the old, the unhealthy and the overweight .

    I read a comment mentioning the Milgram Experiment, which seemed vaguely familiar, so I looked it up to jog my memory. “The Milgram experiment(s) on obedience to authority figures was a series of social psychology experiments conducted by Yale University…They measured the willingness of study participants…to obey an authority figure who instructed them to perform acts conflicting with their personal conscience.” The vast majority of people obeyed. Why? :

    -The first is the theory of conformism, based on Solomon Asch conformity experiments. A subject who has neither ability nor expertise to make decisions, especially in a crisis, will leave decision making to the group and its hierarchy. The group is the person’s behavioral models

    -The second is the agentic state theory, wherein, per Milgram, “the essence of obedience consists in the fact that a person comes to view themselves as the instrument for carrying out another person’s wishes, and they therefore no longer see themselves as responsible for their actions. Once this critical shift of viewpoint has occurred in the person, all of the essential features of obedience follow”

    -Another explanation of Milgram’s results invokes belief perseverance as the underlying cause. What “people cannot be counted on is to realize that a seemingly benevolent authority is in fact malevolent, even when they are faced with overwhelming evidence which suggests that this authority is indeed malevolent. Hence, the underlying cause for the subjects’ striking conduct could well be conceptual, and not the alleged ‘capacity of man to abandon his humanity … as he merges his unique personality into larger institutional structures.”‘

      1. Yes. But the fake electric shock part was merely to test the extent of people’s obedience levels. What’s interesting is that people were most obedient when instructed by scientists. I suspect that this milgram study explains a lot of what we’re seeing in regards to accepting an experimental vaccine and ignoring caution and minimizing contrary evidence.

        But the rage directed at those who refuse to participate in the vaccine experiment. The desire to punish them for their non-comfomity. That’s a different and more malevolent human behavioural issue. The Kill The Heretic or Burn The Witch reflex?

      1. I took a look and the Stanford Prison Experiment is pretty much debunked. The Milgram Experiment has been criticized but not debunked. For example, from Vox:

        In some cases, time has shown that flawed original experiments offer worthwhile reexamination. The original Milgram experiment was flawed. But at least its study design — which brings in participants to administer shocks (not actually carried out) to punish others for failing at a memory test — is basically repeatable today with some ethical tweaks.

        And it seems like Milgram’s conclusions may hold up: In a recent study, many people found demands from an authority figure to be a compelling reason to shock another. However, it’s possible, due to something known as the file-drawer effect, that failed replications of the Milgram experiment have not been published. Replication attempts at the Stanford prison study, on the other hand, have been a mess.

    These “variants” are being referred to by Greek letters, instead of geographic origin, because the eggheads were sick of being asked why it was just peachy to refer to a “British” variant and not to Wuhan flu or—heaven help you—the CCP virus.

    The “Delta” variant of Wuhan flu was first discovered in India. Of course, it probably did not originate there. My guess is that it came fresh from the WIV via Pakistan.

  7. That Globe and mail article is incorrect.

    Hinshaw said there was one outbreak of the delta variant at Foothils, and that outbreak had ten fully vaccinated people testing positive. Checking AHS outbreak data, there were three outbreaks at Foothills…only one outbreak had more than ten people so that must have been the outbreak she was referencing. That was also the most recent outbreak so it would make sense that this is the Delta outbreak.

    That outbreak has 7 staff and 13 patients. Hinshaw said ten people who tested positive were fully vaccinated, and didn’t know how many were partly vaccinated. So 50% of the people that have it are fully vaccinated. Presumably 50%-60% of the fully vaccinated are partly vaccinated?

    This vaccine doesn’t seem to do much to provide immunity…hence Hinshaw falling back on the unprovable “they aren’t getting as sick as they would have”.

    Doctors months ago were saying that these vaccines could actually cause increased susceptibility to variants.

      1. To be fair, the GandM article doesn’t draw a distinction between the three outbreaks at Foothills, and we don’t know if the ICU are associated with the delta variant outbreak, and more importantly, if they are vaccinated .

        And we don’t know if the staff who caught COVID are in hospital or recovering at home.

        The only reason I know this is I listened to Hinshaw answer questions, and found it odd that she reported a hard number, as opposed to a percentage, of people who caught COVID who were vaccinated…and she never mentioned the size of the outbreak. That seemed fishy so I went and looked up the data myself, since you clearly can’t count on the media to correctly interpret numbers.

    1. When the tests are fraudulent and fear porn is our lexicon, anything will get into the Foothills in order to elevate the narrative. The “health” industry is encouraging illness by promoting stress and fear they KNOW lowers immunity.

      Fast food, smokes and booze are essential in a “health” crisis. So are big box megastores.

      Were I a politician in these times I’d say, “I’ve no authority to override the Charter of Rights and Freedoms bc we are a free nation. Assess the risks for yourself as you would during any other flu season.” I would hope our “healthcare” system (the best in the world (cough)), would also be honest brokers but that is an illusion shattered fully.

  13. Since I don’t trust what governments and elites are saying about the virus or other issues such as climate change and gender, why would I then trust what they say about the vaccines? Or more precisely, what the doctors they allow to speak on their behalf say, when other doctors say different things.

    Personally, I suspect something far worse is planned and who’s to say that the vaccines aren’t part of it, the original COVID-19 seemed engineered to accelerate co-morbidities (and sweep through large numbers of healthy people in mild form to raise the rates of infection to scary sounding numbers). Who’s to say that the vaccines aren’t programmed to interact with future variants released by the same people who released the first waves?

    So I am also taking the wait and see approach. When I make a list of people enthusiastic about vaccines, it reads like the invite list for next year’s Davos summit. Have they ever lied to us before? Well, where’s this ice free Arctic Ocean? Where’s the just peace in the Middle East? What have our elites actually done right since about 1990? Nothing and everybody (here) knows it.

  16. My wife and I are attempting to book passage on a Princess cruise now, but are informed we must show proof of full vaccination. My wife is a stage 4 lung cancer patient (never smoked) who has undergone radiation, chemo, immunotherapy and more chemo, so her immune system is not of the best.

    We as well as four close friends have (easily) recovered from Covid and as has been mentioned, it expressed as a very minor cold for all of us. We now have natural immunity and would prefer not to be ‘vaccinated’ as we believe it offers no greater protection than our natural immunization. Nonetheless, we are told we must have not one ‘booster’ shot, but two if we wish to travel.

    This ruling has no basis in science and forces us to either accept an unwanted, unnecessary and potentially harmful ‘treatment’ or to just remain home as we have had to do for 15 months. I have written to our Chief medical officer Bonnie Henry, expressing the discrimination and unfairness to the 146,000 British Columbians who have recovered, but as might be predicted, this large cohort of citizens have no standing as they cannot be politically used to the gov’ts advantage and can therefore be readily ignored and dismissed.
