People seem to be okay with massive institutional intrusion so give it them.
Most construction job sites have them in Ottawa. Some have A QR code that you download and you just quickly fill out a questionnaire. Or a link to a website. Some are on paper.
They won’t let you work without complying. Pretty sure its mandated by the Ministry of Labor as per instructions by the Ministry of Love.
I see issues in the near future…
I just left a job because of all the fear porn of CV-19. I was required to submit a QR code every morning before being were allowed to work. It all started with a Covid test (Antigen) before getting on the plane. Had to be at the airport 3 hours before flight and had to sit in “covid jail” in the airport, all packed into a small area with masks on and wait for an email or text with test results. Negative allowed us then to move over to the other half of the same room for the next 2-2.5 hrs (masks on). If you tested positive, you were sent home for 2 weeks-immediately!!! Not allowed back until retesting showed negative.
After the flight to camp all packed into a metal sausage tube (once again always masked up- no fresh air allowed) we had to retest in camp three days after arriving. Forced to sign paperwork which stated that we shouldn’t sign the paperwork without a lawyer or union representative present and aware of our rights. Two double-sided pages signatures on each page. One page said that test results would be shared with multiple health authorities. The second page stated that these tests were private and would NOT be shared with those same health authorities- GO FIGURE!! Then the real kicker. If i did not sign the paperwork prior to testing and refused the test I would be taken off site along with my travel gear and bags and would be responsible for my own way back home. All 1200 kms back home. My expense.
That’s brutal.
Federal government sites have PHAC (Public Health Agency of Canada) Gestapo everywhere.
Are they new hires? Are they contract workers? Are they going to want to give up their gig?
Health privacy is dead in this country.
And the kicker to the test after 3 days in camp.
As I was reading the “paperwork”, it took a while for me to check the double-speak within for health authority data-mining and the threat of camp banishment. Yup. I encountered that a lot when I flew between Edmonton and Fort St. John. I had airline employees bar me from proceeding to planes unless I put my face diaper on, even though I knew I couldn’t board without one.

I’m glad I’m driving my truck to and from FSJ now. It takes about the same amount of time from door to door, but at least in my truck I have elbow room, I’ve got air conditioning in the cab, plus I can listen to satellite radio.
