          1. I read somewhere that The Band … when holed up in the Pink House, which gave rise to “Music from The Big Pink” … started reading some history books on the shelves in the house, and drew inspiration for many of their “Americana” songs from History.

            Why could this never be replicated by any bands today? Our public education, err indoctrination system has censored all the REAL History expressed by The Band.

            I recently rediscovered Tony Joe White when my #1 vinyl producer ‘Analogue Productions’ reissued/reengineered “Homemade Ice Cream”. At that time I also picked up a reissue of “Tony Joe White Collected” (Greatest Hits) by ‘Music on Vinyl’ … and was blown away by the musicality of his guitar and voice on this top quality vinyl. The clarity and depth of that sound never came through on my AM transistor radio … back in the day.

    2. All this discussion of zydeco reminds me of the days, many years ago, when I used to listen to WRNO, a shortwave station that was based near New Orleans. It didn’t just put a good signal into western Canada and play some decent rock music, but it often presented material that promoted the city and state.

      I remember it provided coverage of activities at the World’s Fair when it was held in New Orleans in 1984.

      Unfortunately, being privately funded, it fell on hard times and the original WRNO went off the air about 30 years ago.

        That’s interesting — I never knew N.O. had a World’s Fair. And, if I may add, I also recently learned that the button accordion was a German invention. Thought it was from France. Then again, the European countries have people that are closely related as Charlemagne allegedly had ~100 offspring in his lifetime. We’re all related to royalty! And…HRH J.T. acts like it too. Ha!

          It still might have had a Gallic lineage. My mother mentioned that there were indications that my ancestors may have included some French Huguenots. They fled their home country and came to Berlin to escape religious persecution.

          I’m sure they weren’t the only ones to settle in the old German states.

          As for New Orleans hosting the World’s Fair, the station sold souvenir T-shirts and belt buckles in observance of the event. Naturally, I had to get them for myself. I still have them tucked away in my bedroom.

  19. Bit of good news in an otherwise bleak news cycle. Yesterday the price of Twitter shares fell 8.6%, on expectations of reduced ad revenues. It seems that Apple is revising its search algorithm policy, and will not share with Twitter its confidential info on people’s preferences, or something like that.

    Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is one of the most reprehensible big-shots around, as far as suppression of free speech. He beats out Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg, slightly. The most abominable person in Canada, in suppressing free speech, is Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault. Both Dorsey and Guilbeault look like twits to boot.

He attended university, and studied political science and “liberation theory”. He then spent decades working for eco-fascist organizations, including Greenpeace, to force the West into energy poverty while silently accepting China’s rapid climb to being the world’s largest CO2 emitter. He was first elected to the House in 2019.

      Undoubtedly, he sees Bill C-10 as the vehicle which he will use to silence “climate deniers” who dare to express their views on the Internet in opposition to the official “climate crisis” narrative that has been fully endorsed by the mainstream media.

    ( it stands at 2.9%). Of course Canadians would love to see how that number is changing on a daily basis, but then they would get angry at Justin so the mainstream media rarely mentions that statistic and instead ramps up the attacks on conservative premiers Ford and Kenney, blaming them for the rise in new cases.
