    1. Ah, found a pic. (love a challenge)
She’s apparently on a winning streak.
      Fine looking pup.

  1. Dogs are important.

During my last trip to Fort St. John, people’s critters provided a means of having a pleasant conversation with them.

In addition, I named my truck after my canine stepbrother. He spent a lot of time in its cab with my father, so it’s only fitting that I honour both of them in that fashion.

  2. my new pup is a holy terror, 1/2 chi, 1/2 min pin, and another 1/2 monkey , with a good dash of gazelle thrown in:-))))

    1. Sounds like a handful.
We got a new dog last May.
Malamute, Mastiff and German pointer, turned a year old on St Patties Day, Her name is Root.
She lives up to the name, into everything.
She is about 70 lb’s, short but thick solid. Strong.
Destructive, my previous pristine yard looks like a trailer park, holes everywhere, firewood for the pit all over the yard.
Pool cover water bags all ripped apart. Winter cover ripped and in the water. A mess. (And Deb if you are reading this, I did not want another dog as you well know, you and Katie pushed it, so here we are, thanks)
We had a freeze up a couple of weeks ago and the water on the pool froze up fairly well, The stupid dog decided to check it out.
I noticed the ice was broken from our living room, asked my daughter where is the dog, Then the little monster comes running up to the door soaking wet. It appears she jumped on the ice and fell through, busted the ice the full length of the pool, and then the width. We still don’t know how she got out, it’s at least 2 and a half ft down and not much leverage to jump up from, no steps. A ripped cover she could have slid under. She does use the pool when it’s running normally and knows how to use the ladder. Backyard 101 for any dog that visits by the way.
I saw her take a 4 l ice cream plastic bucket and shred it in minutes, literally.
And vocal, play mit me whine all the time. If you are not bleeding after a session you did good.
I would have been fine without the dog, but we have her now and she adds to your life,
My wife and daughter lover her and seem semi miffed that Root always looks to me.
“Daddy daddy daddy” is what they say.
Whatever. Beats the dump somewhere in Nunavit.
      She’s a good dog.

        1. She is still a puppy.
Her head is next to mine when I wake up in the morning.
          She will calm down.
She is also scared of her own shadow at this point!!

        2. I’m guessing you are not rhetorical and asking a genuine question as you seem incapable of understanding what good anything is. Yes, it is a good dog and will bring joy to their lives. Check a dictionary for what joy is.

      1. Ahhh, ha, ha! You had me laughing! That description was like something in “Reader’s Digest Magazine!” She’s a good dawg!

      2. Root’s like my canine stepbrother.

While my mother was still alive, she often called me on the telephone. Every so often, she’d ask, in her German-accented English, “Have you ever seen the movie Gremlins?” When I replied yes, she continued: “Well, we have our own gremlin,” referring to him, of course. And, yes, he lived up to that reputation.

Your description of Root makes me think that she might be a gremlin as well.

        1. Awesome.
Root is good natured but immature.
She takes no guff, and will retaliate if you push her, but she will do so in a way that it’s just push back, not aggression.
          Likes her games.
          She will turn out fine.

  3. I thought dogs transmitted and suffered from COVID-19 … seems I read that last June? Were the dogs masked? Were the Judges allowed to check their teeth by temporarily moving the mask during a brief inspection?

I’m gonna bet that Gavin Newsom’s office of Emergency Veterinary Health Services has published a color coded Guide to safely conduct Dog Shows during Pandemic conditions.

  4. Who watches CTV?
Also Global, CBC or read any Postmedia bird cage liner.
    Seriously, they don’t exist.

  5. Have you gotten your vaccine yet, Kate? Presuming you’re eligible based on SK’s rollout schedule.

People here look up to you and respect your opinions. While vaccinations should always come down to personal choice, encouragement of those who are still on the fence from trusted sources can boost uptake rates and help bring this pandemic more quickly to heel.

    1. Many of us are not at all interested in taking an “off-label” experimental vaccine. There are prescribed doses at specific intervals (for the two-shot vaccines) which are being ignored by Canadian governments for politically-motivated reasons (ie. to save Justin Trudeau’s ass). Official guidance for some of these vaccines (especially Astra-Zeneca) change every second or third day. The three federal bureaucracies: Health Minister Hadju, Public Health Agency of Canada, and the National Advisory Committee on Immunizations cannot even agree on who should take what, when. No way in hell am I going to take any vaccine until much more robust and clear data is published.

I don’t speak for Kate, or anyone else. But I’m sure that I am not the only Canadian who feels this way.

  6. I just spent the last two weeks in South Florida, what a difference. Open, alive and upbeat, came back to NS and it seems like what people must have experienced traveling to East Germany from West pre-unification. Dreary, everyone looking away, fearful and bleak. Canada is OVER.

  7. Canada was over a looong time ago. This COVID BS just brought it to light – for the blind,

  8. I am a Canadian expat. Born and raised in Canada (mostly BC). 9 years ago…after 12 years in Saskatchewan and 40 years in Canada…my family (wife and 4 kids) I moved to the US (Utah).

Prior to last year we returned every year to BC to visit family and friends. Last year was our first year not being able to do so, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be able to return this year.

I am dismayed about how the media and government bureaucrats and politicians have reacted, and continue to react, to COVID. They are living in a pseudo-reality with regards to the danger that COVID has to the general population…and are abusing their power to foist that pseudo-reality on the rest of the population. Their response has smothered any inkling I may have had about moving back to Canada.

    1. Looking at the US too.
Will hinge on whether the current Biden regime get’s exposed and de-platformed, otherwise what’s the point.
      Dakota’s or Montana.
      Winter, whatever.
      Maybe Texas.

  9. Melbourne, Australia was the sight of Sunday’s annual ANZAC match-day of Australian Rules Football. “Only” 78,113 people were “allowed” into the 100,024-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground Stadium to watch Essendon beat Collingwood.

UFC-261 took place in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday night. The sellout crowd of 15,269 enjoyed the hostilities.

Canada? Ummmm…. Maybe in mid-2022 we MIGHT be able to go to the gym again.

      1. Almost forgot….

In Major League Soccer action on Saturday, Toronto FC “hosted” the Vancouver Whitecaps in Toronto’s new “home” (Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida.) They fought to a 2-2 draw.

After the match the Vancouver Whitecaps flew back to their new “home.” (Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah)
