31 Replies to “If Ontario’s Vaccine Woes Are Ford’s Fault”

  1. Are you kidding Kate? What reasonable person would count on Trudeau to do anything? Health is provincial responsibility. Failure to manufacture or acquire vaccines are provincial responsibility. If they blame Trudeau, they too are obviously blame worthy for being so foolish to count on something that Trudeau blathered.

    1. During a “Pandemic”, the federal government is responsible for Vaccine acquisition, and they have done a terrible job at it…

That doesn’t absolve the provinces for failing to go around the federal government

  2. Meanwhile, the media and anti-vaxxers (and to their discredit some conservative pundits like Ezra and his team who) have caused such a panic about the AZ vaccine that here in Alberta they can’t give them away. Dropping it to 40 to try and use them.
The media has largely created the covid-19 panic and now they are creating new panics to keep the old one going and keep the clicks coming while they are entertained by the calamity they have created. Trump was right about that, they are the enemy of the people.

    1. These experimental shots are dangerous. I am not an anti-vaxxer as I have taken many of them over the years but never an experimental one with zero testing under standard protocols for any and all vaccines.
The following numbers are from VAERS/CDC as of April 9th….56,869 adverse reactions, 2,342 deaths, 7,971, serious injuries. That sure sounds like something I would take chance on no matter how many millions have had it shot into their bodies. The numbers are even worse in Europe. I wonder how many it is acceptable to kill if it “only saves one life”.

      1. This is the kind of misleading information that is gaining traction. VAERS accepts reporting from any vaccine provider on any death or adverse reaction following vaccination – it does not mean that people died of the vaccine. VAERS has used this standard for years and its numbers should not be used to draw direct links between any vaccine and adverse reactions cause its numbers are skewed.
Nothing is perfectly safe but this is fear-mongering.

        1. You know what’s even safer than taking the experimental “vaccine”? Not taking the experimental “vaccine”. You’re the fear mongerer here slaw.

        2. Isn’t it fear mongering many times worse when every death is blamed on the virus whilst ignoring the co-morbidities?
C’mon, it’s a bad flu just like the one that took out my brother-in-law a few years back. He had health issues that were more or less controlled but that flu destroyed his kidneys. Can’t live without kidneys. And blood clots are not your friend either!

        3. But Slaw,it was OK when every death was “Covid”?
If our fearless leaders can blame every death on the Dread Covid,in their zeal to “Protect us”,why can’t we play by these same rules?
Or is Maths only racist when we do it?

          1. Not sure what you’re on about but if your point is that the facts can be twisted one way now cause they may have been twisted before then, no, you should not play by those rules cause that is not only morally wrong but potentially dangerous. And what the hell does racism have to do with anything?
If you guys don’t want to get the vaccine then, cool, don’t get the vaccine. Just don’t lie about it being more dangerous than covid-19.

          2. Just don’t lie about it being more dangerous than Covid-19.

Slaw, an honest question. If the recovery rate for Coronavirus among under 20 year olds is 99.999%, and the adverse reaction rate to getting the vaccine while under 20 years old is 0.02% (so 99.98% see no ill effects), would you agree that the vaccine is more dangerous to that group than the virus?

I don’t know that it is, but that’s the order of survivability rates we’re discussing. That’s why I think that the discussion is worth having. The numbers indicate that the youngest cohort are extremely resistant to the vaccine so I think we mess with that at our perils.

      2. What also doesn’t help is that depending on where you live, get vaccinated and you’ll still have to wear a mask, social distance, quarantine when called upon, all of that. So someone already on the fence may just decide to carry on without getting it if they’re just going to be living their lives as they have been.

It’s already happening here in the States where there are vaccination locations that are at “come one, come all”, and that phenomenon will continue to increase as jurisdictions get past the people who really want to get it and into the people who won’t get it (outright refusal or a medical reason they shouldn’t) and the people willing to wait a while for various reasons, including wariness of the adverse effects or waiting for herd immunity to kick in.

      3. Two mice are in the pub and one asks “Hey, have you had your covid vaccine yet?” And the other replies “What?! You must be kidding me, they haven’t finished the human trials yet!”

    1. Weird how Ontario has been relatively strict in imposing shutdowns, etc., yet the virus continues to spread. Perhaps such shutdowns don’t work? Who knew?

      1. Or maybe this point by Iverson
“it seems, let’s say inconsistent, that non-essential travel into Ontario is blocked by check-points, yet inter-provincial flights are unimpeded (not to mention incoming from New Delhi, Frankfurt and Shanghai).”.

        1. You want incoming flights? How about a China Eastern Airlines plane taxiing to a gate at the Vancouver airport? I saw that yesterday while I was changing planes on my way to my house in Fort St. John.

      2. Tests are not cases and computer models are not patients. And no lockdowns, social distancing and masks cannot prevent the spread of a virus, any virus.

        1. “no lockdowns, social distancing and masks…… prevent the spread of a virus”
Who knows but one thing seems apparent; countries like Taiwan that were quick to block flights from Wuhan province China seem to have done a better job on the virus overall.

  3. The average age of people dying in England and Wales from Covid-19 is 82.4

The life expectancy for U.K. in 2020 was 81.40

I cannot find similar age statistics for Canada but maybe vaccines aren’t really all that important.

    1. Alberta….avg age at death for covid is holding steady, since around Feb/March 2020 …… 81

      1. The average death rate in Canada from all causes is 7.8 per 1000, that is no change as decades ago it was 7.3 per thousand and the population is somewhat larger. Based on stats can numbers about 787 people die, based on annual totals, every day. There is so much out there that is being ignored and lies that are being accepted, I don’t see how we are going to get through this with out some serious trouble brewing.

  4. Doug Ford got gulled.
The swivel servants of Ontario are Liberals to the core, for it is a big club and taxpayers are not welcome.
By failure of nerve and by failing to comprehend his own responsibilities Mr Ford has been maneuvered into a ridiculous and impossible position.
Instead of protecting and promoting the citizens individual rights,Mr “I’m a Conservative” has been openly attacking individuals and taxpayers freedoms, engaging in the State Thuggery which we have all come to expect from our so-called Liberals.

Now in defence of the indefensible, the “civil service” believe they are helping.
Just doing their jobs, helping us,it is the compassionate Canadian way.
    Killing us with “kindness”.
And because of this mindset they are relentless in their do-gooding destruction.
Only a bureaucrat could have created the “Pandemic Response”.
Lock down the taxpayers to save the bureaucracy.

As for Ford and our other poll chasers, they fear ,deeply, that they will be held responsible for the failure of government to prevent people dying of the Dread Covid.
Stupid twits,as of course they will,no matter what they do.
The Government (federal) Propaganda is going to call the Premiers “Murders and Callous Killers” as this furthers the power lust of the federal bandits.
If these “Conned Cons” had had a spine, they would have stated the obvious and stuck to it.
    Everybody dies.
Government cannot stop a virus, like the common cold.
Government cannot create wealth, nor put food on our tables.
The “Free Healthcare” is neither free nor available to the taxpayer..Cannot be saved.
And as the days went by,these so-called “leaders” should have been growing ever more sceptical of the advice from their hired help, whose attempts to help have caused immense harm nation wide.

By now, even the most brain dead, frightened moron can see the Dread Covid has never reached “Pandemic Status”.
No civic collapse,no mass graves,no young healthy people dead in ditches..
No “Bring out your dead”,nor nursery rhymes of the mass deaths..
And the failure to fly of the Dread Covid has not been as a result of smart government policy or enlightened public health advice.

So the steady drumbeat of doom has caused Doug Ford to crack and launch the most draconian assault on individual freedoms in Canada since Pierre the Idiot.
For his own sanity,Doug needs to step aside.
Or change course so strongly that the handicappers and wormtongues are caught off guard.

  5. You know what? I’m well past the point that I would be worried about Douchebag Doug being wrongly accused of anything.

He heaped more fuel on the covid frenzy blaze than any other Premier. He can effin well take the shots for the lack of shots.

  6. We have a vaccine clinic here and every time I’ve driven by it no one is there because there’s no vaccine. I’ve yet to see a single person at the COVID testing site either.

  7. The Liberals are quick to blame Ford for his incompetence and the voters are stupid enough to agree with them.

But the fish rots from the head.

A normal country would never have elected a snowboard instructor in the first place.

Time and time again, the Liberals have shown not just incompetence but complete indifference to the public. Anyone who would vote for such people deserve every bad thing that ever happens to him or her.

  8. It is interesting just observing all the pearl clutching, from so many varied sources. Over a vaccine, for a virus with a less than 1% IFR (infection fatality rate). Over the number of infections, for a virus with a greater than 99% survival rate. Over travel restrictions, for a virus with a less than 1% IFR.

    Carry on.
