Scott Moe On Carbon Tax Ruling

Live now. (click the listen live button at top right)

– will bring Sask Power and SaskEnergy under provincial rule, backdated to Jan 2019
– Sask will develop own carbon tax scheme similar to NB
– will develop carbon credit/offset system in province
– will ask feds to assist in developing small modular nuclear power generation
– ask feds to provide Sask with “fair share”of funding under some federal low carbon fund

Not sure this is going to calm the get the fuck out of Canada community.

  1. It is an appalling ruling. Truly appalling.

Wagner bestowed on himself the title of global warming expert and global warming *solutions* expert. And from there he was able to invoke the POGG clause.

I am not surprised by the ruling, but it is still a shocker all the same.

The playbook is clearly illustrated via both global warming and more recently the virus. Create a fictitious fear. Find some willing “scientists” to agree. Whip the sheep (about 75% of society) into a panic. Then do as you please.

    1. And all to try and trim a few fractions of a percentage point off of Canada’s measly ~1.6% of total global CO2 output.

It is virtue signaling by Trudeau and his groupies at its finest.

  2. You know, in quite recent times an effective response to this would have been shutting down the Country by blocking transportation routes.

But the feds, with the collusion of the supposedly conservative premiers of the plaintiff provinces, have pre-empted that kind of action by effectively shutting down the effin Country with their Wuhan flu legislation anyway. And as the referenced governments well know only a minority is up in arms figuratively, and none will be literally.

So take it with Moe’s vaseline, or without.

    1. So just shut the Rail lines down the west has plenty of Indians, look what the local tribe around Deseronto Ontario did with a few piles of scrap metal and assorted other junk. Neither the Province or the feds did a damned thing, Doug Ford would not even make a comment on removing these ” First Nations ” citizens and Trudeau was hiding under his bed and could not be disturbed. Both levels of government will listen to a group of privledged citizens IE: First Nations or Quebecers before the rest of us could even arrange a meeting.

  3. “– will ask feds to assist in developing small modular nuclear power generation”

A losing proposition. Beyond providing funds for the development and implementation of small modular nuclear power generation, any other involvement by the feds will only result in escalating costs, foot dragging and finger pointing when the project stumbles.
In terms of management Saskatchewan, with the assistance of qualified and experienced consultants, should go it alone.

    1. If the Province gets assistance from the feds – the plants will be designed and built in Quebec and the power will be delivered there too.

It will be studied to death to ensure there is an incorporation of Indigenous Ways of Knowing, that all requirements of Gender-based Analysis Plus impacts are mitigated, that it has been decolonialized, that the systemic racism inherent in electricity and physics has been eliminated and that the US billionaires and actors are all on side before one shovel is lifted.

What does Moe need the Feds for?

We need to do it on our own; then whine like kids about not getting our fair share and threaten to leave home.

      1. Anything involving nuc energy requires Federal approval. Do you really think this Lib gov’t would approve it?

        1. No they will not assist in the development of small modular nuclear.
That is the point of my comment.
          Why ask for assistance.
Get going on it now – it will be a catalyst for a meaningful discussion on the future of Canada. Confederation or not.

    1. But wait!!! Kenney says he is going to “study the decision” That’ll show em. That’s the kind of strong effective leadership we can all count on!

  4. I must have missed the part where Scott Moe said “Mr Trudeau, kindly kiss my @$$!”.

Anytime in the last 2 years a Sask Party rep phoned asking for a donation I have been asking them “What is the date for the referendum on separation?”. Typically a stunned silence ensues.

  5. Unless the taps are shut off and the east bleeds, this will go on until the lights go out.

The kleptocrats care only about Ontario and Quebec. Stop sending them anything. No gas/oil, no food, nothing.

  6. “Canada’s measly ~1.6% of total global CO2 output”
…and the world looks on with an indifferent bemusement. The oil & gas continues to find its way into world markets albeit at reduced prices because of our no pipelines policy and all Canadians continue to absorb the cost of this government’s childish antics.

  7. Blackie’s bought and paid for CTV had a special guest on its political show this evening. Who better to discuss the carbon tax victory than Gerald Butts.

  8. Fuck it, shut the oil in and go home. Turn off the gas wells, too. While we’re at it, stop forestry and mining. To hell with it.

The people who vote for this crap can go fist themselves.

  9. I don’t see a lot of viable solutions being offered and I’m tired of the whining

What about pegging AB/SK/ON carbon tax to what QC is charging. Think the Socks would go after QC to increase it? If he did how fast do you think the law suits in QC would determine it unconstitional? I’m guessing it’d be done inside of 12 months.

I’m all for bringing everything within provincial jurisdiction back to as fast as possible. We need to control the purse before anything else can happen. This decision has opened a can of worms of epic proportions so we need to grab all the control we can before it’s too late. Then go Alinsky on the feds, make them live up to their rules…… every single one with out exception every single time.

It would be an adventure to separate, but you need federal cabinet approval so how far do you really think that’s going to go? There was a region in Spain a few years ago, similar situation (economic powerhouse) that voted for independence, was shut down by their federal equivalent. Did the UN back them?

UDI? With who’s army backing us…. seriously, we’d need a standing army to do that. dlDo you believe the uber liberals in the UN would support us, I don’t think so and would we want that? Xiden administration?

Anyone else got any creative solutions?

    1. We “west” collect our own taxes, have own pension plan, own police force, and then remit what WE decide is fair, given treatment and Federal interference/penalization.

If we toss money into Fed coffers continually, accept pittance and neglect, I suppose we do deserve what we get. Enough tho, time to pull out and manage our own, like Quebec.

Unilateral if needed, but, out, get out and regain control. THEN, set up to pull out of this abusive relationship. We need to separate, long and short. No other options for Western Canada.

Shutting down supply of energy to East is fine by me BTW. Let’s support shutdown, that’s not a bad start.

Leaders, lacking sadly, BUT, when we do get a couple JT2 and elite in East are in trouble. I may not see it, but it needs to happen. For our children’s and grandchildren sake.

  10. Bugger the “Small nuclear powerplants” lets go straight to our own bomb.
    Uranium City could live again..
And having a very dirty and primitive bomb would work as well for Buffalo as it does for Israel.
I believe central Can Ahh Duh is working for Western Separation..
Actions speak true, when all we hear are lies.
What would the Ottawa Parasites do differently if they intended to aggravate Westerners beyond reason?
Has anyone found a rational, reasoned case for the continuation of Confederation?
    I keep looking..
But I can make a convincing case for Independence, just by pointing at the State of Canada,as this welfare case, bankrupt society seeks to emulate Venezuela.
All we know for sure is it ain’t working and no one in authority wants free trade between Provinces..

So now a tax, based on a religious belief,is “legal” cause the Federal Government Cares..
So if the Feds express a “concern” about the rampaging unicorns and withholding of Pixie dust they can impose taxes over those as well.Taxes without end.

There is no cure for stupid, but allowing stupid to interfere with essential services can cost you everything.
We cannot survive being helped by fools and bandits of the Supreme Court quality.

And on the “Emissions” scale Canada, particularly Western Canada is a negative contributor…All those damn trees.

  11. If we separate, which is the only logical thing to do, we could go straight back to coal. Inexpensive and we have hundreds of years supply. And the westerlies will send a little smoke eastward towards our new ex-pats. Nuclear is not a very good option when we have such a small population spread over such a large area. Topple the bird choppers and sell the solar panels in a garbage sale. Coal and Natural Gas rules.

  12. Here in Alberta, Kenney is going to try to push for a referendum on “should we bail on equalisation?” to deflect/distract from the real question we should be having: “should we unilaterally declare independence?”

AB SK and northern BC remaining in Canada is like a spouse staying in an abusive marriage. We need to stop denying that we are being abused, leave, and move on.

    1. “Equalization” is entrenched in the Con-adian constitution. Kenny of course knows this and I’d bet though not even 10% of Albertan’s do.
Because it is written in the constitution the only way out is a “UDI”.

  13. Ask a politically appointed unaccountable corrupt political body a political question, get an unaccountable corrupt political answer.
Good to know that these “judges” are also experts on the scam, oops, I mean on the “crisis” of globull warming.
Did anyone really believe the corrupt Liberal/CCP Supreme Court would have ruled against their comrades in the LIberal/CCP Party… ?
    Come on, man.
    Another fine day in, Turdholeland.

  14. Moe’s slow incrementalism of the climate fraud is working as planned. They never attack the fraud directly. Ya we need new Premiers and a new country, lets get the fuk out of Canada, if you expect change for the positive from any of the current slate of so called leaders you are part of the problem.
