   Over a Century of “Enlightened Do-Gooder Help”.
   I read a terrible book a few years back,written by a South African Journalist,a distant relative of Stanley the explorer,retracing the explorers travels..
   What stuck in memory,was the tale of the writers guide,who desperately begged the writer to adopt his children,so they might have a chance of a future..
   The Modern Congo described in that tale,is contrasted with Stanley’s Congo.
   I gave book to friend,will attempt to google title and author.

5. I have been in a similar African county. Looks much the same.
   The poor in North America are very wealthy compared to the lives of many in other parts of the world.
   We have much to be thankful for.
   Few here know why or what brought about the quality of life we enjoy.
