And The Budget Will Balance Itself

Finance Minister Barbie: Budgets are hard!

The Liberal government will not release a budget in March as it takes more time to assess the impact of the pandemic, meaning that more than two years will have passed since the last federal budget was released.

A senior government official told The Globe and Mail that March has been ruled out as a window for unveiling the budget, which will have to address the unprecedented economic and health crises brought on by the coronavirus.

The last time the government presented a budget was on March 19, 2019. A federal website lists budget dates as far back as 1968. During that period, there has never been a gap of more than two years between budgets until now.

Ottawa’s decision not to table a budget at any point in 2020 put it out of step with other Group of Seven countries, who all produced budgets last year. The provinces and territories also released budgets in 2020.

The minority Parliament in Ottawa did approve the Liberal government’s emergency pandemic measures through a series of votes on spending bills last year, but MPs were never presented with a formal budget.

  1. The “diseased Dominion” is going to crash and burn, I wish I could be sad about that. At much of a privileged, inherited, entitled P.O.S. Morneau was, he was smart enough to get off this bus. Freeland is perfect, woke, master of vagina studies, journalism leftie, when the mob drags her from office and tears her limb from limb, she’ll blame her “whiteness” and her last thought besides ouch will be I understand.

    1. Pfffft, budgets are so passsssee!!! Who the hell needs a budget when all one needs to go through life is the right set of feelings?

Besides, they could do anything they like, anything (except maybe come back to the straight and narrow) and their base simply won’t give a damn and, in fact, love them for it all the more.

I would hope the diseased dominion does crash and burn, it is the only way to fix things anymore. Unfortunately, there needs to be a whole lot more suffering and pain for that to happen. We aren’t even 10% of the way there yet, not even close.

      1. I apologize for Canadian Government emulating the very WORST part of American leftist politics. However … where are your “government shutdowns”? And “continuing resolutions”. Perhaps it would be best if you started shutting down your Federal Parks and Monuments?

        1. Kenji
Remember all that BS about going to shut the government down, close the monuments, going to close parks and now we’ve already spent abut 30 Trillion-dollars. Maybe Hunter Biden can ask the Chinese for another 20 billion dollars in Aid

          1. Kenji, shutting down parks etc is reflective of the back and forth of a (quasi-functional?) system of checks and balances. In a deFacto majority parliament, the party in power does as they please. When it is a leftist majority it has the added bonus of being on side with the institutions, particularly the media.

      2. Many Liberals feel no need for budgets and elections since they would just have to make facts up, so why bother?
Remember the truth, especially when it relates to statist excess, is fake news perpetrated by unknown white supremacists.
Btw, anybody who doesn’t think abortion is a good thing is a racist pig who has the temerity to assert individual rights.
The state will decide your rights which will be the same for all, except when they’re not, which is usually the case.
Then they will decide if you can go out in public, what you can eat and wear, what car you can drive and how long you live.
When they run out of people’s money, they’ll simply run out of other people’s wealth and freedom, and safety.
So, don’t worry be happy, the government is here to help you; they have the situation, aka you, under control.

    2. “The art of taxation consists in so plucking the goose as to procure the largest quantity of feathers with the least possible amount of hissing.” Quote by King Louis XIV Finance Minister Jean-Baptiste Colbert

      1. Thanks to big, corrupt government, our golden goose is not just plucked but cooked, a carcass built back better.
Meanwhile, budget challenged regimes keep waiting for the goose to grow more feathers as it rotates the spit of statism.

        1. I believe there is a story about killing the golden goose. That is if it hasn’t been cancelled.

  2. How long does it take for the government to figure out how to tell us, “BOHICA!”

  3. Of the hundreds of billions gone missing (they refuse to account so it’s missing), how much ended up in Liberal coffers and back pockets?
    I bet lots.
The corruption and collaboration with non-Canadian interests is unbelievable.
They need to be literally hauled out of there and arrested.

    1. BY who?? The corrupt treasonous filth of the RCMP? They are Turdhole’s political enforcement thugs. Tell them they’ll get their pensions and they have no problem stomping on citizens, not like they have the brains to discern anything different.

  4. About just about anything else I can say, ok, we can let that go.
Gov’t should be mandated legally to present a budget yearly.
Good to know the press is going hmm no big deal here.

  5. There was an article in NP about how the people in the office that controls the government live on twitter and face book talking gibberish all day long and come with nothing of value save bullshit.

It’s hard to take seriously what the ‘government’ of Canada spews with endless nothingness.

Of course they have no opposition so its an easy ride for the bolsheviks.

      1. If Trudeau and his ilk are looked upon as Bolsheviks, then it’s not a far cry to consider O’Toole and his ilk as Mensheviks.
        This is not good.

    1. This is what happens when you give people good salaries to stay home and do nothing. 37.5 hours at home “working”, which is mostly doing e-mails and tweets.

    2. The problem, Lev, is that their inanities and lack of action are adversely affecting the rest of us.

  6. It’s the sunny way to do things – because it requires math and that’s racist.

  7. And what is the response of Mighty Warrior Scott Moe? Any “not with standings”? Any actual fights? A record number of press releases containing promises to start fighting at some indeterminate future point? Any moves to stop allowing CRA to stop collecting taxes for a government that will not release budgets? Any moves to stop paying equalization to a federal government that has outlawed all pipelines?

Learn the difference between people who want to lead, people who are able to lead, and people who simply want attention and golden pensions. Start voting accordingly.

Until you see evidence that it is not the case, simply assume every word out of the mouth of everyone coming around to ask for your vote is a lie. Also, assume they are all members of the same party; the “Golden Pensions and Lucrative Appointments for Life Party”.

  8. The only country in the G-7 without a budget. The only country in the G-7 with its leader still afraid to come out of hiding. What a country. The world needs more Canada. Canada is back on the international scene, baby. Big time!

  9. Board of Directors of CP Rail: We’re looking for a new CFO
Candidate: Wonderful! I am a fellow of the Institute of Certified Professional Accountants, I have a degree in Economics, an MBA from the Wharton School and 20 years of increasing responsibility and scope
BOD: Umm, but no degree in Russian literature?
    Candidate: Uh, no.
BOD: Well, I’m sorry. We feel that what our storied company needs to manage its finances is a person who has a degree in Russian literature
Candidate: Oh. Ok. I’m sorry (Leaves)
BOD: That was the worst one yet! Thank heavens we hired that former part-time, substitute drama teacher to be President

  10. This is getting funny now.
This stupid country is crashing hard.
5-6 years it took Blackie to obliterate Canada into Venezuela. Millenials will suffer the fates of shitholers:)
    Win-win!!!!!

    1. Don’t think it is the country that should be blamed.
Heap the the plentiful blame on the government, the bureaucras, the mass media cartel that the government of Canada pays for and only those that voted for it. Especially those that voted for it, it is 100% their burden to bear, though one thinks they are ignorant of that.

      1. Yes, the country is to blame fully.
Stupid idiots who vote for free stuff then other stupid idiots who vote for fake conservatives all are indicative of a country which fully deserves its fate collectively.

      2. No, you bloody well blame the country. Who elected Turdhole? As each usurpation occurs, who objects? The Canadian way is “tolerance’. What is tolerance? It is the act of standing for nothing, so it is easy to tolerate everything. Canada is a nation of infants, scared to make any decision, needing mommy government to pat them on the back and tell them it will be ok, just trust us. I live in Halifax, albeit not for much longer, as the last free country on earth beckons, and it is in need of patriots lest it too fall. If Turdhole decided that the population needed to be reduced by half to “save the planet”, and therefore by random draw determined that everyone with a last name starting with B, D, F… had to walk off Pier 21 and drown in the harbour, I wouldn’t want to find myself at the end, I’d be crushed in the stampede as Canadians rushed to their demise.

    2. Hopefully they get to follow a crows ass with their mouths open from dumpster to dumpster for their next meal of crowshit

  11. They’re just putting the finishing touches on the “enhanced revenue solutions” scheme otherwise known as bank account theft. Remember…we’re all in this together.

    Please be patient.

    1. Also RRSP theft, RRIF theft, RESP theft, RDSP theft, TFSA theft, and tax on the disposition of one’s principal residence. Wherever Canadians have tried to save, the Lieberals will steal.

  12. At least our government is inclusive and woke. Our prime minister is a twat and our finance minister is a dick.

    1. You guys are so negative!

We may have passed Greece but Japan is still more indebted than Canada. We’re only #2 worst in the world!

Although unlike Greece and Canada, Japan actually produces things.

Hey, Canada ensures that the 4.5 million public servants get the lifestyle they don’t deserve paid for by the other 13.5 million employed canadians.

      Suckers gotta suck.

  13. There is nothing good about this government. Nothing.

The rubes in central Canada have had their pain receptors blocked by pandering over the years, and so nothing will change until they share all the pain of the ROC. Which is why the feds keep piling on the debt, in the hopes that they can enrich themselves (or establish their globalist cred) before them chickens come home to roost. I mean, they aren’t even pretending any more, really, and potentially the most-disheartening thing about it is that they did this to us by “our” consent and with a freaking MINORITY government.

This is a big part of why I think that the Canadian experiment is well and truly over. I just hope enough people who remember the right way to do things survive what’s likely coming, but even then I don’t have much hope.

    1. Well, perhaps the shutdown of Line 5 will cause a bit of pain. Though it should have happened back in November, without the six months’ notice.

      1. Saudi on speed dial, or something.

I hope it has an effect, but I’m not hopeful.

    2. Blame the 2 week canadian memory and your corrupt media.
Liberals have always reduced the value of the dollar etc at the expense of eastern and western canada and their commodity exports to the advantage of ontario and quebec and their manufacturing.
      Twas ever thus.
I bet 99.9% of canadians would fail an 1888 grade 5 exam.
      And I’m an optimist.

    1. And the sooner the better.
At this point, Albertans that elect to stay with the ship are just as culpable for the upcoming catastrophe as the NDP and Libcons.

    2. Greg, “time to leave this country”….and go where exactly? The whole west is on the same destructive path, and sadly, there truly is nowhere left to go to.

      1. Well Gerry, from what I am hearing, we should wall off the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border and wall off the lower mainland and Vancouver Island. Pick a new name for the new country in between, (Alberta, Saskatchewan and most of BC and possibly the Yukon) and be one of the ten richest countries in the world. All the resources needed will be within these borders. Weed out the commies and send them to Toronto and Vancouver.

        1. Greg, That would be nice, and I am all for it. Somehow I don’t think the snowflakes in those areas will agree to it, and we might need to persuade them. So alert me when we’re ready to start the persuading, I’m willing to help, but I don’t think I’ll be holding my breath. We are all truly screwed.

          1. Oh balow me.
            You folks left long ago.
In point of fact, you never showed up.
So piss off as the country swirls and know that you, like the vast, vast majority of canadians did nothing. Nada.
            Pissants all.

  14. We don’t need no stinkin budgets. Blackie will simply borrow more money from China. Free stuff for everybody! Besides, everyone will be to busy planting trees this summer to worry about it.

  15. Haven’t we heard this talk before?

The reason reason why no one has tabled a budget is because this country is in far worse shape than the kleptocrats care to admit.

Dictatorships often end with the dictators and their families attempting to flee with the people’s cash.

    Look for that.

  16. Most Canadians don’t know what a budget even is, so will continue to vote for this nonsense as long as the spending continues. As on a ship slipping further beneath the waves, passengers will grasp anything to keep their heads above the water, even if it means pushing the others around them down.

I see little hope, even if the CPC were to win the next election. Allowing the O&G sector to thrive once again (i.e. pipelines) would certainly help, but O’Toole appears too beholden to central Canada to let that happen. Trudeau’s announcement of a huge rise in carbon taxes is a signal to the bond markets on how the bonds will be repaid at maturity. Another election, whoever wins, will be just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

  17. There is no limit for people who can’t fathom the depths of their own ignorance.

And they’re not finished spending. UBI and Pharmacare are coming next.
And then the nation will be finished.
    Amen.

  18. If Canadians of here and now had to pay for the fiscal incontinence of the Spawn and his fellow psychopaths, they would vote him out. The entire problem is the deficit-induced corruption of the perception of free stuff that someone else will eventually pay for. It’s the successful mining of votes bought and paid for by looting and destroying the futures of the unborn. If such immorality was attempted in the private sector, those responsible would be imprisoned. The Spawn of Satan has offered up pure evil and Canadians, cheered on by their institutions have lined up for it.

  19. Simply put.
    National debt is treason.
Doubly so when there is absolutely no return on the “investment”.
Once we would borrow for infrastructure, which was publicly funded,to open areas up for future growth by private enterprise..
Now we are “investing in social welfare”.
Otherwise known as parasites living large on money borrowed against other peoples children’s future slavery.
