Okay, a day late and a ventilator short but still.

A Québec company received a quarter-billion dollar pandemic contract to supply ventilators that repeatedly failed testing, internal records show. Cabinet justified the sole-sourced contract on a claim of “extreme urgency.” First deliveries of rebuilt devices are scheduled this week, eleven months after the contract was approved: “It was an emergency situation.”

At least the cheques cleared right away.

    1. It does appear to be a LONG TIME AGO … that the Bad Orange Man FAILED to provide enough ventilators. Oh! Until the actual DOCTORS learned that ventilators were doing more harm than good with the ChiCom respiratory infection.

    1. The city of Ottawa continues to operate its full fleet of buses and its dysfunctional light rail system at full capacity despite ridership having fallen by 70%. Wouldn’t want to upset the transit unions by laying off anyone.

    1. That’s easy, former liberal Frank Baylis’ firm Baylis medical was paid $100 million over retail to produce the Baylis V4C-560 ventilator, which is the Medtronic’s PB560 ventilator design which Medtronic released to the public as a free license for manufacture at the start of the pandemic….

      the PB560 was already approved by health canada, but for reasons that are not obvious, the units manufactured by the Liberal connected firm Baylis medical seem to be having trouble passing.

  11. Hospital Facility Director here… we don’t need the ventilators and never did. There was never a shortage. That assumption was based on the same flawed modeling which said our hospitals would be overwhelmed..which they are not nor have they ever been.

  13. Covid is a big statist cash machine. Way better than climate change, which might have to happen. Covid has infinite “cases.”
    Plus waves and variants. In this case, thank God these parasites were wrong on overloaded hospitals, ICUs and ventilators.
    The unenlightened despots could have cleaned up care facilities; instead they allowed more seniors to die in a 2nd covid wave.
    If that dereliction of duty is not brought up in the media, Canada enters best before territory with a true east/west cleavage.
    The neo-regals want control, but they don’t want the accountability, the sobering reality of leadership that goes with it.
    The mediocracy, otoh, can’t even conceive of such an idea, that a hated non-Liberal could offer good advice and leadership.
    They have the CBC and the pseudo CBC (CTV, Global). No Fox North. Anything close, however benign, is an existential threat.
    To what is the question and what voters will find out if they allow this government go get away with their gross negligence.

    1. And since they use the “gold standard”, PCR test they can manufacture any number of waves or spikes (in either direction) just by diddling the cycling threshold. Even the CDC has admitted false-positives are upwards of 98% when the threshold is >30 and only 6% of the people that died in the U.S. died from the CCP virus, the other 94% died with the CCP virus. There is a difference.
