Who Sees What

Interesting news outfit shows which news organizations cover which stories.

“New information has emerged regarding the death of the Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick that questions the initial cause of his death provided by officials close to the Capitol Police,” the Times wrote.

  1. My rule of thumb: if you don’t think a news source is biased, check the mirror. If you think a news source is baised, it almost certainly is. Just be aware of where the bias leans, and be skeptical of every broadcast.

  2. Yup. There’s no problem with biased news coverage. Recognize how the bias lies, what isn’t reported, and find a source that reports it.

If there’s a site that consistently reports what you think is most important, make them your primary source for news. And reference the lies and omissions when offered “free trials” of the other sources – “I don’t trust you anymore because…”

Maybe they’ll learn. Not while they’re on the government teat, but maybe someday…

  3. Too many people don’t recognize how often the Media lies, “by omission”
Stories broadcast once, just so the Media can claim they’ve reported on something. Or buried deep in a paper or mentioned at a time during the day, when few are listening.

  4. If any journalism is being practiced today, it is by Independent Journalists. They are the ones doing hands on, in the trenches reporting, not the sofa jockeys, who curate tweets, gossip, and rumors. Some are in the midst of migrating to the uncensored web sites, like Locals. As for Jan 6th, all the adults in the room know you have to wait, sometimes weeks, for the real facts to trickle out. I took the Sicknick story at face value for about 8 hours, before it started to stink.

    1. I don’t think so Chris.
There are still good journalists out there, they just don’t exist in great numbers, certainly not in the mainstream media, which isn’t about journalism. No, the modern media is first and foremost, part and parcel of the entertainment industry.
The people you see, the “face” of the media, are nothing more than actors, and they read lines written by writers who have a narrative, given to them by their producers, who receive their direction from the financiers.
The script for the last four years has been “Orange Man Bad.
The plot before Trump was , Republicans are evil and Democrats are the saviors of humanity.
The script for the next four years will be revised slightly, but will be a combination of the two, Democrats are saving the world and Orange Man Bad, Pedo Joe will be eased out, and Miss Spread Legs will be hailed as America’s first female president and black to boot! Why it’s a win/ win for the entertainment industry.
My advice is to cancel any subscription to mainstream media sources, search out reliable blogs, and most importantly, FOLLOW THE MONEY!
The last is most important, as all motives boil down to these three simple words, power, money, and love. Within those three words are the motives for every good and every evil act ever perpetrated by man since he stood on two legs.
Understanding this is the key to determining the truth. If all else fails, be your own journalist.

  5. I visit both left and right news aggregator sites and what is so striking is that it’s not just that they have different takes on the same stories, it is that they are talking about completely different stories.
It’s a big part of the reason radical partisans have so much trouble reading the public mood – they are so cut off from everything outside of their limited world.
