  1. Heh. The biggest impediment to a ship’s life is rust. That break was rust, probably due to poor ship handling while docking, over time and poor maintenance. Whack the dock harder than normal once and you’ve started the process. Paint keeps any ship together and rust out. Crinkle the paint and salt water will reach steel and with time will weaken the hull and hull members until you see what just happened. And it doesn’t take long. Two and a half years before the mast and I chipped paint, steel brushed the steel and painted a couple ships top to bottom, stem to stern, inside and out. I used to sail on one that was held together with paint. In some places, literally. There’s another poster on here who sailed the same ship.

    1. I thought the fractures occurred rather rapidly. I didn’t notice anything that might suggest that a wave might have hit the ship the wrong way so that the structure failed due to shock loading. I also didn’t see if a wave might have raised that part of the ship out of the water far enough such that the ship’s weight caused the structure to bend like a cantilever beam, causing it to fail in tension.

In such incidents, there are often several factors which can contribute to a failure.

  2. It looked like a ship from an Indiana Jones movie!! RIP sailors!! It was a riverboat, never meant to be on the sea!!

    I blame Trump!

Thus triggering the students and heads started to…

    1. I’ve heard of people going into hospital in the UK for something not serious and getting pneumonia or Covid-21 and (nearly) dying. I call it catching NHS.

    1. The way to get around the inconveniences of that situation is to dehumanize those who are to be sacrificed. If someone claims an exemption, it’s easy to violate their rights by making them un-persons before doing so and then selectively applying the law.

Rights are so inconvenient, aren’t they?

      1. Latest Ontario Big Brother ad goes “Until ALL are vaccinated, stay home…”

The injection refusniks will get the special armband treatment.

    2. Wow! Great explanation of the situation. I will be sharing this with family members who support lockdowns. Not that it will help…

    3. It’s true. The lockdowns are completely immoral. Governments and their publuc health advisors have blood on their hands.

    4. What an excellent article. I have shared it widely. Although I wonder if people who vote for more lockdowns, more restrictions, etc, can still be influenced by any common sense…hmm, sad.

L – When lawyer’s talk shop. It’s usually boring but not ViveFrei and Barnes. Among other
stuff, Gina Carano can sue Disney under California labor law for political discrimination.
Who knows if she will, but it would create lots of free publicity for her future movies, and
    maybe help fund them, too.

Is Canada’s Viva Frei and America’s Robert Barnes tag team commentaries, an example of
    the U.S.M.C. ? Hoo-ra ! No, I meant the trade deal.

The phallic necktie is an outdated symbol of white male rule in New Zealand’s parliament

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2021/feb/08/the-phallic-necktie-is-an-outdated-symbol-of-white-male-rule-in-new-zealands-parliament

“Clothing is inherently political in its ability to represent the values of our culture, and the necktie is one of the most politically charged items of body adornment. The necktie echoes the shape of the codpiece, a fabric flap or pouch designed 500 years ago to emphasise a European nobleman’s importance through his large phallic size. It is arrow shaped and directs the eye of an onlooker down towards a man’s groin.”

  7. I guess it’s a little aside , but does anyone know who the leaders of the highest moral character are planning to donate there salaries to? That being China Joe, Brutus McConnell, and Pelosi.Possibly we could all start questioning them about it.

  8. Various corporate media are reporting that the Official Languages Commissioner is investigating that the report on the Rt. Hon. Julie Payette’s behaviour is available in English only. Call the police!

  9. Just got in from plowing the global warming in my lane way. For those that are waiting in anticipation, Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau will show up for a few minutes at the fake Question Period at his fake parliament. Before that though, he will join his cabinet lackies virtually, to explain how wonderful he is and probably rant about global warming.

  10. Blackie’s CBC has a wonderful new Walmart commercial, where all the females wear bags over their heads. I wonder if they had FGMs as well?

    1. I love his writing style. Even the most preposterous idea for a series… he makes me willing to suspend disbelief long enough to get hooked on the story and characters.

  11. More global warming, er, climate change news. Here in south-central Iowa, the temperature at 6:35 am this morning was -16 F, or, in the system that the rest of the world uses (and that I think that USA should use), -26 C. The historical average low temperature for this date in my town is 36 F / 2 C. The temperature here hasn’t been as high as 20 F / -6.5 C since 2 am, Friday, February 5, and isn’t forecast to be that high until this Saturday. There have been no sightings of Al Gore.

    1. And how are you celebrating the victory over Global Warming brought about by our/your savior, President Joe Biden?
(urkxx… sorry, I just threw up a little bit there)

  12. BNN-Bloomberg this morning is showing a news clip of CTV’s Omar Sachedina happily saying that vaccines will start rolling into Canada, and that Canadians no longer have to worry about any shortages. All is well with the federal Liberal government says.

  13. The massive federal government bureaucracy, who worship Trudeau the First as their patron saint, demonstrates once more that it can best serve all of the needs of Canadians. We just have to make it even larger and give it greater control over our lives.

“National defence says it doesn’t know when it determined that a $70-billion project to buy new warships had fallen five years behind schedule, adding billions of dollars to the cost.

That lack of knowledge about a massive mega-project is unprecedented, according to the department’s former top procurement official, and is further proof the Canadian Surface Combatant project has gone off the rails.”

  14. The Supremes have tipped their hand in open court – they will be further limiting the free speech rights of Canadians:

“Grey provoked a startled response from several judges when he argued that Ward “offered equality to Jeremy Gabriel by treating him the same as other sacred cows.”

Grey’s argument prompted Justice Russell Brown to say, “Come on! Don’t go that far. We’re not talking about Galileo or Salman Rushdie. He’s not a hero.”

“We’re talking about someone who said he tried to drown a 13-year-old who has a physical disability,” added Justice Sheilah Martin.”

  15. Another Librano, this time of the provincial premier variety, makes his way to the Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet to gorge on “consultant fees” with his chicken-fried rice:

“Amid growing calls for a tougher Canadian stance toward China, outgoing Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil had some provocative advice recently, suggesting politicians here should actually avoid reproaching Beijing.”

    https://nationalpost.com/news/lets-go-learn-not-for-canada-to-tell-china-its-wrong-n-s-premier-stephen-mcneil-says

In fact, McNeil will be dining in the Chinese private champagne lounge with the likes of Jean Chretien since his love of China has been unwavering:

” Just days after saying Canada’s ties with China have hit “rock bottom”, China’s ambassador is praising Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil as “a great friend.”

  16. Adolf The Gay Pirate currently has his bozo cabinet ministers on TV, explaining how they are going to take guns from the peasants. One of the things Herr Blair is going to do is spend more money on programs for blacks. I guess they need more basketball courts and social workers. And Fraulein Freeland is ranting about femicide. I guess not submitting a budget for two years isn’t important to her.

  17. The International Court at the Hague has just ruled Covid Curfews and Lockdowns are Illegal and demanded that Holland end them immediately. This ruling is International in scope. Were does this leave the Get of Old Fidel, Trudeau and all his Health Experts and our useless Premiers and all their experts. Hopefully they all end up on Genocide Charges and Crimes Against Humanity.

  18. Have some questions to ask. Why the Global Warming Agenda? Why The Great Reset? Why The Pandemic Fear Campaign? Why The Build Back Better and Net Zero Propaganda.
My 2 cents. The global population rose with the introduction of fossil fuels and their adaptation to various machinery. If you research population levels before the advent of oil and gas, then look at them now you will see this is true.
Without fossil fuels the population will die back to pre carbon fuels use levels. To the levels that animal and human power alone will produce food.
All of these programs and the propaganda for them had this as their goal all along. Now bam we have the GSM. The die back of the global population will be in the Billions.
Best Prepare and Now. Start from were you are planted and prepare.

    Abstract
In this article, we aim to develop a political economy of mass hysteria. Using the background of COVID-19, we study past mass hysteria. Negative information which is spread through mass media repetitively can affect public health negatively in the form of nocebo effects and mass hysteria. We argue that mass and digital media in connection with the state may have had adverse consequences during the COVID-19 crisis. The resulting collective hysteria may have contributed to policy errors by governments not in line with health recommendations. While mass hysteria can occur in societies with a minimal state, we show that there exist certain self-corrective mechanisms and limits to the harm inflicted, such as sacrosanct private property rights. However, mass hysteria can be exacerbated and self-reinforcing when the negative information comes from an authoritative source, when the media are politicized, and social networks make the negative information omnipresent. We conclude that the negative long-term effects of mass hysteria are exacerbated by the size of the state.
Keywords: mass hysteria; nocebo effects; contagion; mass media; social media; public health; law and economics; political economy; groupthink; culture of fear; emotional contagion; anxiety; policy error; COVID-19..

So the take away is the bigger the state, the greater the state of confusion and the longer mass hysteria events go on.
    Gee who woulda thunk.
