Also I’m still trying to get my head around the basis for these protests. I got that it’s due to some legislation that purports to open things up and make the markets for agricultural products in India freer, but none of the whoremongers in the media are reporting specifics.
I’m guessing that it might be akin to the hand-wringing that would result if Canada decided to abolish milk and egg boards.
The farmers that are protesting get subsidies for their food, the Indian government is planning on taking the subsidies away.

The farmers are pissed that their guaranteed lolly is no longer guaranteed, so they’re creating a gigantic fuss. Sound familiar? Kinda like the way the cab industry reacts when ride-sharing is introduced, when the Feds try to introduce security clearances for truck drivers at ports or a when violent Sikh extremist is deported from Canada?
