An Oakville man says Halton police made his young daughter cry as they cleared a crowd of tobogganers from an Oakville park on Saturday, Jan. 30.
 
Charbel Cheaib said his 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter had been cooped up inside all day so he and his wife decided to take them to Old Abbey Lane Park to enjoy some tobogganing.
 
At around 4 p.m., however, he said the fun came to an end when a Halton police officer arrived on the scene.

  1. They are outdoors with faces covered in bright sunshine. They are sticking to family groups. The virus wouldn’t transmit that way. WTF????? This is so obviously not about the virus that with new treatments is the same as flu.

    1. It hasn’t been about either public health or the virus since July. The various govt’s have been salivating over the prospects of increasing dictatorial control over the masses, and, I would wager, hoping strongly for more outbreaks to visibly justify their thuggish actions. Plus, in the east at least, they’re still trying to deflect away from their handling of LTC deaths–the vast, vast majority of them in Canada–so they keep doubling down on stupid.

  7. I posted this link in Reader Tips, but it is relevant here. Asymptomatic transmission is not a concern as most people testing positive are not infectious. And outdoor transmission also is not a concern. It is this kind of excessive constraint that is making people suspicious of a hidden agenda. It makes politicians and their public servant advisors look stupid. Our governments are destroying people’s lives and accomplishing nothing:

    2. This weekend there were line-ups outside stores (that were open) in -25C. I bet that caused more health issues than anything else.

      The only gatherings that appear to be fatal are those in Long Term Care facilities and hospitals. Maybe they should get out more. The truly awful thing here that I do blame the authorities for is that; you’d think that after a year, they would have figured out how to keep the evil virus away from LTCs. And that’s even excusing them for not being prepared for such “epidemics” beforehand.

    3. They do have a hidden agenda, it is to cover their arses. One year ago now, the authorities panicked and did not apply common sense and reason. For this they maybe could be excused, if one were Jesus. But they just doubled down calling for more of the same unsuccessful policies without looking at where the real issues are.

      I expect they now realize they were missing in action on the LTC front and the unreliable, to say the least, PCR tests. But to admit error would be to yield credibility and power, and no government will do that. So their response is to throw dissenters into metaphorical jail.

    There’s no evidence whatsoever he went tobogganing in Florida.
