    1. I liked DT Jr’s comment that … “Hedge Funders better learn to code, or build solar panels” hahaha ha ha ha

  1. Julie Payette upset that her RCMP security detail was allowed to participate in workplace review: sources

Elitist Culture Quote of the week:

“Think about it: it can’t inspire confidence to know that someone dedicated to protecting your life may have also spoken against you in the review,” said one source close to the situation.”

Let me fix that quote for ya:
“How much confidence would you have in the person dedicated to protecting your life if you have subjected them to ‘“yelling, screaming, aggressive conduct, demeaning comments and public humiliation’?”

    https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/julie-payette-upset-that-her-rcmp-security-detail-was-allowed-to-participate-in-workplace-review-sources

        1. David – LMAO! You have the reply of the week. Even her hardened security detail were so intimidated by her that they were afraid to voice their concerns to her face. They had to line up to chat with a third party consultant to make their victimhood statements. I’m making this part up, but something like that must have happened.

And Linda – she’ll probably get a security detail for life, if she wants it. Doesn’t sound like she feels she needed one.

    1. Covid will never end world wide, it is a virus and it is and will mutate it will not kill us all. Get up, get out, get over it.

      1. But I thought you heard? Our betters have told us that Now Is The Time For Us To Panic!

Not them though. The layers of smug that surround them will keep them safe. Because, you know, they’re just better (/sarc)

  2. Rex Murphy: Of course the Liberals didn’t support Keystone. There was no ‘political gain’

Among its bouquet of non-surprises was the detail that, of those who voted for the Trudeau Liberals in the 2019 election, “77 per said they believed it would best for Ottawa to focus on priorities other than Keystone with Biden.”

The same CBC story offered illumination on this point, too: “Regionally, the survey shows how the Liberals have little to gain by bringing up Keystone XL again.”

Can you believe that — take a deep breath — “Only in Alberta and Saskatchewan did a majority of those polled by the Angus Reid Institute say they believe that the defence of Keystone XL should be placed above other priorities.”

    https://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-murphy-of-course-the-liberals-didnt-support-keystone-there-was-no-political-gain

    1. Huge part of my past. Gordie Hotfoot and his songs litter my days from the late 60’s and early 70’s. Riding a motorcycle across the west towards Calgary singing to myself “Alberta Bound”. He should have been the Poet Laureate for “Canadian Railroad Trilogy”. Good days, good memories. Thanks Gordon.

      1. Had the chance to see him in Calgary a few years ago, his live songs are abbreviated a bit now. Otherwise, he was quite witty and friendly.
Someone in the crowd requested Railroad Trilogy, to which he replied “Aw heck, I’m too old to do that one anymore!”.

        From Canada Day (Virtual) 2020:

        https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tDRQnbAtmLs

          1. I was working in TO back in those days with Northern Telecom, installing switching equipment in Bell buildings. Seems like very long time ago.

        1. In my impoverished undergraduate university days in Ottawa, in 1971/1972, I used to be a janitor at the Le Hibou, a sister coffeehouse to the Riverboat in Toronto. Some folksingers (Gordon Lightfoot, Murray McLaughlin) were 100% business in prepping the sound, stage etc. Others (Ramblin Jack Elliot, Jerry Jeff Walker), were near alcoholics. Kris Kristofferson was an arrogant fellow on an ego trip. A Wiki search shows that the near-alcoholics had lengthy careers since then. Once, after I had wet mopped the linoleum floor in the performer’s room, folksinger Tom Rush asked me “May I walk on your floor?”. A decent person, he.

          1. I think I paid $9 or less to see Gordon Lightfoot and Liona Boyd at the Edmonton Coliseum. Boyd remarked at the size of crowd, probably 10 – 15,000. I look back and see that Lightfoot played mostly halls and Boyd was new to the biz so likely her mind was boggled by the crowd. She used to bang Pierre Trudeau. What a waste of woman. After banging crazy Maggie, he must have thought he died and went to heaven. I wonder if his acne cleared up?

    2. I was absolutely obsessed with the Sundown lp.

I seem to have a thing for unique voices … yep, I do like Dylan … and man alive but Lightfoot’s voice is an instrument that can only be made by God! His unique voice and style is WHY I love music and consider it the most essential and fundamental creative endeavor of mankind. Music makes us human … and you want to celebrate “diversity”? Do it through music … not skin color.

    3. Of that age (upper side of middle) where he and Anne Murray were CanCon’d down our throats.

Luckily for my age, there was punk, then new wave to turn to. Never did I think I would think to listen to Gordie again.

Only within the last year or two, I did. Just fantastic.

      Stupid CanCon.

    4. I actually seen him in Wolfville during the early seventies. Great show but he’s one cranky SOB.

      1. “The searchers all say, they’d have made Whitefish Bay if they’d put fifteen more miles behind her…”

The verbal artistry of ‘the wreck’ lyrics is beautifully stunning. I only WISH I could pen lyrics that paint with so many colors. That tell a story so emotionally engaging. The way Gordon tells the story … in a kind of reverse telling … makes the listener have to THINK about what’s being said. Wow. Pure genius.

The searchers all say … the listener thinks: what? What did the searchers all say. Oh there was a search party … I didn’t know that. What did they say!?

they’d have made Whitefish Bay … the listener: oh! they were going to a port in Whitefish Bay? Wait … “Bay” oh! Probably just a sheltered resting spot in the storm. Damn! They might have saved themselves. Why didn’t they get there?

if they’d put fifteen more miles behind her … oh! So sad, they were only 15miles from the bay when they sank. Or was that fifteen miles an hour faster they should have traveled (tough to do in rough seas)? So that’s why they didn’t get there. But I surmise the Captain was steering for the nearest safe harbor – good on him. If they had only left about an hour earlier, eh?

And the song is structured as a dirge. A funeral dirge. The staccato repetition of the lyrics followed by the haunting bell-like ringing of the lead and slide guitars in the choral answer to each lyric. OMG … song writing doesn’t get any better than this.

And yes … this is how I listen to music. Trying to discern the artist’s intent and artistry. Kinda like the Sister Wendy of music

        1. What a song Kenji!!
It’s Lightfoot’s best work according to this Wikipedia link:
          https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wreck_of_the_Edmund_Fitzgerald

The first time I heard the song I felt such sadness and I still do for the lives lost. I felt the same way when I first saw the mighty majestic Lake Superior, a gravesite. There’s hundreds of ships buried there. This music seems to reflect that sadness in my opinion.

          But, it’s not really a song, it’s a feeling.
A beautiful thing, really, because death and destruction are part of life. We eventually get over losses but we never forget them.

        2. I remember when the incident was in the news the year before. The ship did indeed go missing after the storm and nobody knew what happened to it. The wreck was found a few years later.

At the time the song was written, the speculation was that the cargo hatches weren’t properly secured by the crew. If I remember correctly, the investigation of the wreck indicated that those hatches were fastened as required, but water still came in.

One explanation I heard was that the storm might have produced waves of sufficient height and spacing that the ship could have restedon two of them, one near the bow and the other near the stern. In effect, the ship was like a simply supported beam and its weight caused the structure to sag, resulting in the hatches being breached.

In that situation, there was nothing the crew could have done. I heard that Lightfoot revised the lyrics accordingly.

          1. That’s interesting, I did not know those details nor
that Lightfoot revised his original song, “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

I had described my first sight of Superior in greater detail in my earlier post but deleted it for the sake of brevity. When driving back East the approach to the Lake is at a significant elevation. After miles and miles of nothing but road and forest the fantastic view of Lake Superior just sneaks up on you. It’s like as if you anticipate driving ‘into’ the Lake. It’s awesome and scary yet so beautiful.

  3. Job Killer Joe’s Climate Team Promises to Replace the Fossil Fuel Jobs they “Sacrifice”

Perhaps it might have been a good idea to create these promised new green jobs, before destroying the old jobs?

“A long-term ban on oil and gas leasing would cost 62,000 jobs in New Mexico, 33,000 jobs in Wyoming, and 18,000 jobs in Colorado.”

    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2021/01/28/climate-warrior-democrats-promise-to-replace-the-fossil-fuel-jobs-they-sacrifice/

    1. The “green” jobs making solar panels and windmills will be in China. China will be using cheap coal powered electricity to make them.

      1. No, no, no … they’ll be making them in Fremont, CA … by the awesome, innovative, forward-looking company … Solyndra! Oh. Wait. Nevermind.

    2. With what? Handing out canned goods in the grocery stores? Everyone had a job in the old Soviet Union too.

  4. Are we about to see another DeMarxist sponsored False Flag event?
A mysterious “terror alert” for DC, by DHS.
NanZi screeching that there’s a security threat “in our own House!”

What’s that they say about being right over the target? The flak is the most intense!

      1. Nancy Ross – Did you notice they quietly mentioned the movie cast and crew will get an exemption from the COVID travel and social- distance restrictions that apply to all the rest of us? It’s OK to kill grandma if you find the love of your life…

Or, Hollywood elites wear their masks properly and can’t spread the Serf’s Flu like deplorable’s do …

        1. Yeah, there’s supposed to be some isolation for these cats prior to the thingy and some testing before…I don’t know, but the theory of the survival of the fittest comes to mind or, is it the survival of the most attractive in the genetic pool?

Funny, there’s no mention of prior vaccine taking. Wouldn’t want to fu, fu, fu, I can’t say it, but you know the word… fu around with their genetics taking any silly M-rNA vax, heaven forbid, that might render them to be sterile. Cant have that!

          1. N. R. – My wife watches Bachelorette. It’s like watching a reality version of a show one might see on the W channel… The focus of the W channel shows is always on the most beautiful 2D people you’ve ever seen who simply deserve to be happy (they actually say that) and whose most traumatic situation is when they don’t realize the other gene-lottery winner is their soulmate. I think every show must have the line, I see how you two look at each other. Excuse me, I have to go barf…

          2. Ha! Yeah, there’s nothing like a fake, put-on romance eh? Now, give me comedy anytime. That is where true, long-lasting romance begins between a couple.

The movie “Murphy’s Romance” is a good example of that. Amazingly, the chemistry seemed genuine between the actors!

          3. Now, give me comedy anytime. That is where true, long-lasting romance begins between a couple.

I don’t know of any marriages that resulted from watching Monty Python. On the other hand, I’ve known a few that were like MP sketches.

  5. About Kerry’s admission of futility (ABC News in Oz).

Which your ysm may have missed?

“Hey ABC News, why did you edit out Climate Magnate John Kerry admitting the futility of cutting US emissions?”

    https://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2021/01/hey-abc-news-why-did-you-edit-out-climate-magnate-john-kerry-admitting-the-futility-of-cutting-us-em.html

The meaty bit from above in case the video doesn’t work

“Yesterday ABC News posted a 1min 36sec video clip of US Climate Change Czar, John Kerry’s, remarks at a White House presser BUT didn’t include the bit at the link, below.

It appears that the Biden/Harris/Kerry virtue-signalling complex is shutting down US fossil fuel industries & sacking tens of thousands of workers for 2/3rds of 5/8ths of SFA result. ”

May be time for a re-read of

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/03/kulak_is_the_russian_word_for_deplorable.html

    1. Kulaks were the same as every other peasant except they laid off the vodka and worked from dawn to dusk every day. Perhaps they lucked out on the menial labour male/female ratio for kids and could farm more land. Hence they had more shit and looked wealthier.

  6. “Gene therapy”? We know it’s not a vaccine in the traditional sense. Do you want to be a GMO?

Professor Dolores Cahill is a molecular geneticist with a pretty good background and she, along with other geneticists, are trying to warn people about the Covid 19 vaccines:

    https://principia-scientific.com/professor-dolores-cahill-people-will-start-dying-after-covid-vaccine/

A short bit about gene therapy and the risks, this says it’s only approved for clinical trials but that may need to be updated, it looks like they have approved a couple of therapies.

The Covid 19 vaccines are only approved on an emergency basis.

    https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/gene-therapy/about/pac-20384619

I will avoid this vaccine like the plague, because it might be the plague.

    1. Phil. I was reading an article at P S Intl. VAERS, a database co managed by the CDC and FDA reports 7,844 adverse reactions and 181 deaths with Moderna and Pfizer vaccines in the US, in the first two weeks of January That reporting is voluntary so the death toll could be 10 times that number. It is not a good idea to put a gene altering substance in one’s body. It is not a vaccine in the traditional sense.

  7. Been a heavy news week, as far as the Justin Trudeau government is concerned. So it’s fun to channel-surf the CBC News to see how they handle the bad news (for them). But the Bag-over-the-Head show (Ginella Massa) is bizarre beyond words. Not only does the CBC bathe itself over Head Bag signaling, the producers fall over themselves in fashioning pure propaganda. Bag-over-her-Head herself is way over her head hosting any news show. Frowning, unlikable, caked in heavy makeup — all she does is throw “I agree with you” questions to the far-left guests that dominate the show from beginning to end. And she is awkward doing even that. The entire show is a travesty, and the Ceeb is stuck with it, given the impossibility of firing a vismin.

    1. Doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter if its a good show. Doesn’t matter if anyone watches.

The only two reasons this program exists is for…. 1. CBC to be able to run ads for it (ie. virtue-signalling) on all its tv/radio stations, and 2. to be able to put a check mark on a CRTC licence requirement.

  8. BNN-Bloomberg news is reporting this morning (early this morning!) that the European Union is about to impose export controls on its China virus vaccines. No info as yet as to whether or not it will be a full measure, or if there will be exceptions. Bad news for Canada, one would think.

    1. From the piece, dated Jan 28, 2021:

…”the Democrats are running the risk of severely embarrassing themselves. They managed, with the connivance of almost all the media and the totalitarian dictators of the social media, and most of Wall Street and the most egregious skullduggery in American presidential election history, to evict their nemesis from the White House. If they continue to pursue him, they will regret it.”

      https://www.newsmax.com/archives/conradblack/358/2021/1/

    1. So if true, Democrat vs Republicans in the U.S.A. is, in effect, Communism vs Communism, just like in the Canadian system.

    2. I think that is nonsense. One of the reasons I never believed “Russian collusion” is because Putin is smart, and Trump was a very, very unlikely candidate. Even I laughed out loud at the possibility of his winning, even the initial primaries. But the story will have traction as yet another smear on Trump.

  9. Kate

Thanks for the Gordon Lightfoot link. I appreciated seeing him in concert a very long time ago.

  10. Blackie’s CBC website reports on indians being outraged at a statue of Sir John A. Macdonald sitting on a bench in P.E.I. They want changes so people can’t sit on the bench for a photo with our first prime minister, and a sign explaining that he was a colonial racist bastard.

    1. -18 C. + plus windchill in SW Ontario tonight. They make us pay carbon tax + embedded green charges to keep warm and lights on for the privilege of being locked down in this progressive utopia.

      1. Just remember that because humans are now smart enough to burn things to stay warm, there is no more natural climate change. Because we’re more important than God (regarding whom our elites will tells us has never existed anyways and that those old-time Jews were just guessing when they got the order of creation right).

  11. The vaccines don’t make sense. Consensus is Covid 19 will become endemic.
Even if vaccinated you can spread it so we will have to keep wearing masks and social distance anyway.
There is talk that they won’t deliver the second booster shots in the 3-4 week window that the test trials are based on.
Plus they aren’t sure for how long the jabs will give you protection.
Plus we may need additional booster shots for the dreaded new variants.
Plus the shots aren’t risk free (people have died) and haven’t been tested on 64+ year olds (Moderna).
Plus you will need a vaccine passport to get on a plane but vaccinations could take up to 2 years +++ to deliver.
Plus 20% already have immunity from catching the virus going back to December 2019 but will still need the shots to get passports.
The airlines dictate that you must wear a face diaper vs. PPE medical mask.
Meanwhile borders are closed to land travel.

Signed: A pissed off 65+ year old whose retirement plans up in the air cuz our governments set up shop in a ChiCom military bio-lab to do gain of function experiments with deadly viruses.

  12. The bought and paid for media are excited this morning that Blackie has declared today a national day for remembrance of the mosque shooting victims, and to recognize the fight against Islamophobia.

  13. GM has announced as of 2035 it will produce only electric vehicles.

Mary Barra, head of GM, “We are all in on electrification to create a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion”

    https://mobile.twitter.com/mtbarra/status/1349067189807181824

That quote is quite revealing, electric vehicles will be so expensive that few could afford them.

Electricity, from wind and solar will be very expensive (at the user’s residence) and rationed due to low grid availability, so that even if you have an electric car it will be difficult to charge it.

Plus you’ll have to pay a hefty electricity tax to make up for the lost government revenues from taxing gasoline and diesel. You won’t be able to afford to drive.

Thus, the roads will be relatively free of cars, only the political elite will be able drive. No crashes, no congestion, all electric!

Oh and politicians will reserve lanes for themselves, aka the Soviets in Moscow.

    1. GM has called everything wrong for the last 30 years. Hint – don’t buy GM shares. The world will have to build a lot of coal fired powered plants to power these electric cars, what with Biden killing the oil and gas industry.

      1. Scar

Biden is not going to build coal plants, so there will be shortages of electricity.

There is not enough mining in the world to supply solar panels, windmills, and batteries to replace fossil fuels

The only way the green new deal “works” is if electricity usage goes way down. Say goodbye to cars. People will have to walk, bike, or take transit.

  14. Canadian Press news agency, reports that Christianity was on display at the Capital City riot. The Christian faith is obviously a terrorist organization.

  15. Progressive brown-baby-killer former British Prime Minster Tony Blair has said that the British government should take advantage of the fact that it is to preside over the G7 this year to implement a global vaccine passport system.

    1. As a refugee from socialist paradise, the system that the Canadian politicians of every stripe are aspiring to, in Vienna refugee camp, everyone got united nations vaccine card for some, forget which, vaccines that everyone had to get to move on.
Its been like that for some 60 years or maybe more.
The certificate, passport or what you wanna call it is a small yellow folded thing about the size of your credit card wallet with the number from the beast, your name and some other information, issued by the beast of the united nations.
Still got the “passport” somewhere in my archives.

      1. Thanks for the memories. Somewhere I have my 1959 “impfung” card also. I well remember the refugee camp for displaced Easterners set up in the American sector. We’ll get thru this also. Maybe we’ll meet in another kamp.

  16. Edward Bernays a short video series explaining how the masses are controlled and manipulated. He was Freud’s nephew and the God Father of modern Public Relations/Propaganda.
You can quickly draw the conclusions of how the public is controlled by the Propagandists in the media and their masters in Government. Pandemic of Stupidity.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0OrT-8gXMs&feature=emb_logo

    1. Great stuff. The full video “Century of the Self” (2002 BBC TV documentary) is available online.

    1. MND, teaching in Chicago in front of “youth” gangbangers is far more dangerous than any exposure to the China virus.

    2. The most frightening part of the “dancing” video is that those nutbars are not only allowed to be near children, but PAID to be near children.

  17. Another White House press conference today, and once again the media is praising how wonderful it was.

  18. I just happened to notice that Tuesday’s schedule for AMC has back-to-back airings of the movie Groundhog Day (6 times). It’s just coincidence, of course…..

    1. Kind of confirms my view that this is not about the virus, but about controlling the population. Have we curtailed flights to China yet? This is plain totalitarian behaviour. Why can’t I quarantine at home?

      1. Also, I thought “cases” were going down. Why more and more draconian crackdowns? Other places are opening up somewhat.

  19. The coward from the cottage gave his little speech today before his drooling, loyal media. He explained what a wonderful job he is doing with vaccines, and stopped people from having fun down south this March break. He then explained that health care workers are racist bastards towards indians, complained that men are abusing women all over the country, and warned that Islamophobia is running rampant in Canada. However he has solutions. Justin will be making big changes to the internet to combat hate speech.

    1. Oh, dear….. I guess that means that all those skedaddling politicians will have to take their holidays in Hawaii, right?

      1. This new ban on travel seems mean spirited, don’t you think? They just sprang this with no forewarning.
Bet the politicians want the airports, hotels and freeways all to themselves for their February to March Break. That’s got to be the reason for it. As PET once so famously said, “Politicians are nobodies 100 yards away from Parliament Hill.”

So now they can travel anonymously without being bothered by the Canadian hoi poloi around. We might be rude them in public, can’t have that!

  20. Blacklock’s Reporter lets us know that Infrastructure Barbie spent two million dollars installing re-charging stations for the exclusive use of cabinet ministers and deputy cabinet ministers.

  21. Ontario publishes explicitly racist WuFlu vaccine priorities – all adult aboriginals & Metis are higher priorities than those senior citizens who have not yet been put into the death camps (long-term care homes). Mainstream media is silent.

    “Timing

    December 2020 to March 2021
    Who will be vaccinated

Early doses will be available for:

    > residents, staff, essential caregivers (including family caregivers) and other employees in congregate living settings for seniors
    > health care workers, including hospital employees, staff who work or study in hospitals and health care personnel
    > adults in First Nations, Métis and Inuit populations
    >adult recipients of chronic home health care”

    https://covid-19.ontario.ca/getting-covid-19-vaccine-ontario#phase-1

  22. And now a wrap up of today’s Canadian news. Canadians are racist against blacks. Systematic racism in our health care system. Islamophobia is running rampant in Canada. Indians are suffering because of white supremacy and colonialism. Justin is wonderful. The Liberal Party is wonderful.

      1. About 5 years ago, I shook hands with Ezra Levant when he was in Calgary for, if I remember correctly, the launch of Rebel News.

The importance of the evolution of Rebel News has never been more vital than it is right now, in 2021. This is terrific reporting from the Staff Reporters. They are providing a great service to Canadian business owners.

Kudos to them all for standing up to Government lockdowns.

  23. Now the newest is they will stick a swab 2 inches up your ass to test for covid.

I’m sure that there will be lots of Canadians looking forward to that, one in particular. I wonder who that might be……

  24. Another one of my movie alerts.

On Monday night, Turner Classic Movies is showing a lineup of stinkers, two of which were listed among the 50 worst films ever made. One of them is Plan 9 From Outer Space, which is so bad it’s hilarious.

The other is John Wayne’s howler The Conqueror. Even he admitted it was awful and, no, I’m not giving any clues as to what happens. Watch it and find out….. and try not to laugh. It has to be seen to be believed. (Fortunately, he more than redeemed himself when he made The Searchers.)

    1. If I’m not mistaken, The Conqueror was Dick Powell’s first attempt at directing. Fortunately, he recovered from that with two good war movies, both featuring Robert Mitchum: the WW II submarine flick The Enemy Below and the Korean War film The Hunters.
