  5. Powerline has this one wrong. I am a dual, with two sisters living in the US, the patriots will not stand down for this one, if the courts down’t move things, they will. By whatever means necessary.

    4. Anyone who labels themself a “real lawyer” … cannot possibly be one. A Lawyer has better comprehension skills than you, and would have understood WHY the Courts ruled as they did … for purely technical reasons with no opinions rendered on the actual merits of the cases.

        America is a fading power, but that is not Trump’s fault. He only accelerated the fall. Biden is likely to slow the fall, but we’ll see. He can’t do worse than Trump, that’s for sure.

        I expect in the next 10 years, the US will find itself to be more like England in the 1960s. Formal World Champ, but still a force to be reconned with, not a banana republic. As long as they decide to lead instead of just give the dictators what they want like Trump was trying hard to do.

        At least they can always say the institutions and process of democracy prevailed against the dictator-wannabe-loser who tried everything he could to subvert the will of the people.

  10. Actually, quite a few of Trump’s election lawsuits have been dismissed not on process but on the merits (or lack thereof) of the evidence brought forward by his legal team: abcnews.go.com/Politics/election-2020-trump-campaign-election-lawsuits-stand/story?id=74041748

    Most recently, in Wisconsin, U.S. District Court Judge Brett H. Ludwig (Trump-appointed) wrote plainly that “This Court has allowed plaintiff the chance to make his case and he has lost on the merits.” Hard to state it more clearly than that.

  11. The Powerline article states some hard truths that are difficult to accept but here we are:

The plain fact is that once a fraudulent ballot is inside the ballot box and counted, it is very hard to get it back out of the box and un-counted. Fraudulent ballots need to be intercepted before they reach the ballot box.”

    1. Finally, a rational thought provoking point about one of the real problems with this huge Trump loss. The election was very clearly voted on and won in completely fair fashion. It just so happens that the powers that be will always make the “rules” to suit themselves.

      Trump won on the same terms in 2016 as were in place in 2020, and Democrats and liberals and independents were devastated and claimed cheating. (Mind you, none of them whined about fraud or criminal activity or throwing people in jail or armed insurrection, but you by you Trump cultists.)

      Here’s the thing us little people who only get a say every few years need to realize. Our political betters like to skewer the laws in their favour.

      Democrats have long complained that Republicans have tried hard to make it harder for people to vote. Fewer people voting helps Republicans win. Horrible awful obvious gerrymandering. Tests and screens that have been proven to limit minority and younger voters. Trying to ban absentee and mail-in voting. As I tell all my liberal friends, that is “cheating” and “rigging” elections only in the moral sense. All of that was legal and if you really cared, then get off your fat, xbox playing, latte drinking ass and go fu*king vote. (Which, by the way to those who were supprised, is exactly what they finally fu*king did in Georgia and Arizona and Nevada etc. because they hated Trump so much.)

      On the other side, Democrats have also used state electoral wins to skewer the vote in their favour. All legal, even if you want to question the morals of it. Pennsylvania saw that Democrats worried that their voters were worried about the pandemic and might not come out to physically vote, made it easier to vote by mail. (For the sake of argument and me trying not to be combatitive, let’s not point out that many Republican states did the same thing because.. well… pandemic. Some thought it was the right and safe thing to do even if wasn’t in their own political self-interest. Some people showed it is possible to put country and morals ahead of self-interest.)

      Nold here, realizes that the Democrats won by playing the game better. It’s a stupid game. We should all want as many people who are eligible to vote that they should vote. And that the system is set up so a vote is a vote is a vote. One party tries to limit the votes and one party tries to get more people to vote. We should all be working to fix the game so the powers that be aren’t fixing us, but the Trump cult is never going to see it that way. Hopefully true republican Republicans will and hopefully true democratic Democrats don’t now say it’s their turn to take advantage.

      Sorry for the longwinded message, but it’s so rare to find someone who is a Trump supporter but not a die-hard Trump cultist on this site, I wanted to acknowledge it.

  12. Democracy only works with the consent of the governed. If the establishment looks the other way to cheating and fraud in elections, the people should withdraw their consent.

    Any elected or appointed official who has the attitude of “we’ll fix it next time” is proving to the public that they are not worthy of the public’s trust…and should perhaps be relieved of their duties. Preferably permanently.

      Which is why we should all have more confidence today in the American electoral system.

      The President tried to cheat. He tried everything he could think of to cheat. He tried banning absentee voting. He tried disenfranchising voters. He tried to get courts to throw out legal votes. He tried to get governors and state legislators to break the law. He tried to get his own judges to agree with him (they rejected him). He tried to get his own appointed election officials to support him (they rejected him). He tried to get the governors he helped get elected to ignore the law (they didn’t). He tried to get his conservative journalists and propagandists to support him (for the most part they didn’t).

      But the system won. Democracy won. A tyrant tried hard to cheat and the system protected the people.

      Voters who disregard its principles are giving consent to be ill-governed and American history tells us that never ends well.
