The Official Narratives of the New Authoritarians

What do the mainstream media, Burn-Loot-Murder (BLM), the Covid lockdowns, and the Transgender mob all have in common?  The people behind them have realized that all they need to do is establish a narrative and then get their allies to astroturf the impression that “everyone” agrees with the narrative.

There are some excellent examples discussed here and here.

Given that all such narratives are definitionally dishonest, how can anyone seeking the truth possibly compete?

In October 2019 ONS report 43,257 people died in England.

In October 2020 ONS report that 43,265 people died in England.

    8 more than last year.

Source: Age standardised morality rates report.

    Just leaving this out there..

    Enjoy the confusion

      1. Use this site to see the excess mortality (or not) ….and remember folks are doing less travelling etc and so that likely has impacted the total death rate.
Scroll down a bit to see the 4 year graph and note it takes ~ 3 weeks for all deaths to be counted and so the graph is slightly out of date https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm

Note also that the current death rate in the US is about what it was at the worst of the 2018 flu season.

    1. With an overall increase in population world wide you would think the mortality rate report would show a greater number of deaths in every country cov2 or not.

  2. In addition, the Leftards continue with their overt bias. Just this morning, the Washington Post had (at least two) “news” items which introduced bias. As reprinted in the Calgary SUN: “…Trump repeated his false claims of election fraud…” and, “…a right-wing protestor…shooting a left-wing protestor during demonstrations fuelled by baseless claims that President Trump was denied re-election.” I’m sure Jeff Bezos is proud of his rag.

    1. That is the reason I cancelled my Sun subscription. It’s not what they say in the editorial or what op-ed writers they employ. It is what they (re)print and not print at all that is telling.

Despite Brian Lilly writing that they should be reporting on Hunter Biden’s shenanigans, the Sun never did. So F*** them.

  3. Once again:

There was never any golden age where the media spoke the truth. Its goal was always to sell gullible people crap they didn’t need and nobody in his right mind would want—anything from overpriced soap flakes to their masters’ latest splendid little war, or, later on, the latest mad social engineering scheme.

The truth? There was never any money to be made in telling the truth. Our Saviour was crucified for that. They’d do it again in a heartbeat.

To the extent anything has changed, it’s that at least a substantial minority are more aware than their fathers and grandfathers that the only thing on TV or in the paper that isn’t a pack of lies is last night’s sports results—and there’s no guarantee the game’s outcome wasn’t pre-arranged.

  4. Global Warming: our own eyes saw and experienced very different from what the narrative has been since Al Gore first predicted the North Polar ice cap would be gone by 2012. But they keep pushing goal-posts and making new predictions and changing definitions and wanting new deprivations to preserve the planet. We sort of roll with it and nod along.
CoVid: many of us and many we know experienced CoVid, either as a mild to less-mild flu, or something more serious or occasionally deadly due to underlying conditions (like so many viruses through the centuries). No piles of bodies in morgues. No vast pandemic.
Almost everyone I talk to states in various ways what I just stated (though some whisper it, glancing over their shoulders). We know the effects of this virus are NOT a justification for the draconian measures the powerful are using to lock us down.
But somehow the narrative prevails about both scenarios being used by the powerful to deprive the masses of goods, travelling, freedoms and rights. Somehow we let them keep using these issues to do this to us. The powerful will never deprive themselves of these things, though. We know that, too.
The narrative prevails because many of us haven’t REALLY suffered yet. We’re hanging in there, with our friends and family and drinks and good food and occasional fun but small gatherings, all hoping for a return to pre-CoVid times, hoping the powerful will ease up on restrictions, hoping for the good days to return. That’s why we’re letting the clearly false narrative prevail everywhere. We’re nodding along, thinking that if we just play nice it’ll all go away. We’re still comfortable enough.
The narrative will fail when enough of us wake up and realize they will never set us free again, and there will never be a return to pre-CoVid times, unless we make it happen. But we know what a fierce fight that will be, and we don’t want the cancelling and the ridicule and the job loss and the fierce hatred and violence the elite can unleash on us with their leftist mobs, both online and on the ground. So we’re just hanging in there. Like I said, we’re still comfortable enough. It remains to be seen how long a free people will let this narrative control us and take from us. When will “comfortable enough” change to “this can’t continue?”
The truth can’t compete because those who know the truth are too comfortable to act on it. For now.

    1. Remember: the powerful don’t need to worry about our votes anymore. Not when they can order up a 100 000 “votes” here and there in vital swing areas, and do it so blatantly and yet get away with it.
We’re stuck with the narratives they decide on. They don’t really care if we actually believe the narratives. As long as we obey.

    2. Like Hillary said of good little totalitarians, they never let a crisis go by without increasing their power and wealth.
Covid, climate change, gender nonsense, four white supremacists, all crises with no victims and no measurable solution.
Even so they have to lie about Hunter not being under investigation, fine people, Russia, Duffy and same sex marriage here.
Because the right doesn’t mobilize around a common cause and leader, they are easily picked off faked issues and news.
BUT, voters still go into the polls and vote for these kleptocratic technocratic con artists. Margins of fraud just seal the deal.
Up is down, black is white, the earth is flat, Biden isn’t a corrupt criminal, along with the malignant influence peddling of Dems.

We must be very concerned about the economy, health care and education, but not as much as same sex marriage and other faux issues. We fall for this divide and conquer statism every time. Now they can lie with impunity and rule absolutely.

While proving they can do anything they want to us and we’ll do it believing it’s for our own good.

  5. Their problem is that their narrative is subject to the law of diminishing returns, or as Barnum explained it’s only some people you can fool all the time and like the boy crying wolf, each time you fool less and less people. This means they have to come up with a new threat every few years to keep a majority of believers believing the lie. This also requires an ever increasing expenditure of political capital.
At some point they write a check their ass can’t cash. Which may have been reached when they decided to run Biden.

  6. Here is good example of the social justice mob. Post Millennial reports that the CBC is demanding that certain songs in the Alberta music curriculum for second graders be removed because they are racist and too European. Evil songs like Jingle Bells, I’ve Been Working On The Railroad, Kumbaya, etc. are among the songs the CBC listed. They also want indian songs added to the curriculum. In other CBC news, True North reports that less than 4% of Canadians watched the CBC in 2019.

  7. We all know how to defeat the narratives and the people who spin them.

We all know that the day is quickly approaching when it will become necessary.

We are all waiting, warning, and praying that the other side comes to their senses before it becomes unavoidable.
