A Covid Mystery in Los Angeles County

Many have been asking why, in September 2020, so many jurisdictions are still locked down even though Covid-19 deaths are very low these days. Los Angeles County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer (with a Ph. D. in Social Welfare) appears to have let the curtain slip about what is really driving the continued shutdown of so much of society:

“We don’t realistically anticipate that we would be moving to either tier 2 or to reopening K-12 schools at least until after the election, in early November,” Ferrer said in a conference call with school administrators and medical staff.

How exactly is a Tuesday in early November related to the science of a virus?

  1. Without stating the election is the reason, I have been saying that I think we’ll be hearing a lot less about covid in November. Barbara Ferrer is confirming that.

  2. It used to be Covid deaths that were blared 24-7…now it’s “new Covid cases” that they’re using to put the fear of God into everyone and of course the dreaded “2nd wave” that you have to know is coming.
This is a joke being played on the world and it isn’t funny anymore.
Yesterday the CDC let the mask slip as well, warning those in proximity to the fires currently ravaging Oregon that face masks currently used to stop Covid lacks the proper weave matrix to stop smoke particles. What they forgot I guess is that the virus, comparatively speaking is a grain of sand when compared to boulder sized smoke particles…so how is a mask of any use to stop the virus if it can’t stop the much larger smoke particles. Hmmmmmm…oops.

    1. Yes, and as COVID causes more diabetes, hypertension, Alzheimers, and car crashes the numbers will only get worse, per our previous discussion (PPD).

I’m in Alberta. 253 deaths. Tragic, but needs perspective. Annual car crash deaths (assuming not caused by COVID, PPD) ~300. Annual suicide deaths (assuming no inflation caused by COVID) ~500.

If the lockdowns and feelings of helplessness and panic cause poverty (world bank estimates 100 million people dropping to extreme poverty because of economic effects of lockdowns) cause more deaths than the disease has proven to cause (real cases, not video-game projections) then the lockdowns are a bigger problem than the disease is.

Here’s a direct question for you Allan, what do you think the long term affect of the COVID caused inflation in Canada, printing off checks for those not working while the economy is either shrinking or growing at a very slow rate? How much of your own personal savings/ property value do you think is appropriate for you, personally, to donate to the collective in this way?

      1. And I’ll add to that C.

ALLEN: Are you PRO continued lockdown / mandatory face mask wearing on a continuous basis to … ???

Or more like a Ted NUgent who believes as I do, that at least 80+% of us already have some form of immunity based on the fact that the Flu – Common Cold are BOTH Corona Viral Agents…and adding to that , the fact that millions have been taking the Flu Vaccine. And as such we should all (8 Billion of us), be immediately exposed – do a world wide 14 Isolation and finally get on with living..???

        Answers PLEASE.

        1. Masks save lives AND THE ECONOMY.

          Whats not to like?

There are many things we can do that have zero economic consequences. Also, it was never either or. Our economy was going to crash no matter what we did.

    2. That’s worldwide.

And in any case, that’s not the point. If Joe Biden succeeds in overthrowing President Trump, you won’t hear another word about Wuhan flu—no matter how many people it kills.

I’ve been saying that for months. Wish I hadn’t had the bad guys prove me right.

      1. Incorrect. 2018 was around 700k estimated deaths for a full season. Coronavirus is now almost a million confirmed and theres several months left where it will probably ramp up again. Estimated deaths are probably much higher.

Its already far worse than the worst flu season in recent memory. Also the flu doesnt leave people with myocarditis, amputations, etc, among those who survive.

  3. “If Joe Biden succeeds in overthrowing President Trump, you won’t hear another word about Wuhan flu” SG\\

That is because OPEN Season on ALL Democrats will have eliminated them… Sometimes you just don’t want to Win when UGLY becomes the norm…..

  4. My wife has been teaching … such as it is … on Zoom. It’s totally CRAP. But the UNIONS want it … so the UNIONS are getting it.

After all is said and done … COVID will have widened the gap between the haves and the have nots even wider as the fallout from a missing year of education kicks in. Nobody in the high income brackets have suffered at all from the COVID shutdowns … only the little people. And the little people have let these fat, rich, bastards run roughshod over their lives.

The only thing that will stop a bloody revolution … is more transfer payments to the poor masses. The poor masses imported and bred by a society too dim witted to see they’ve engineered their own destruction. It will take a gated property … inside a gated community … inside a walled suburb … to hold back all the poor rioting revolutionaries.

The only solution is Donald Trump … jobs … and a restoration of American ONSHORE manufacturing jobs. Learn to code? Most Americans can’t do basic math without their cell phone.

    1. Kenji, the irony is that that IDIOT allen tried to tell us how god at math he/it was, and then set out and proves he is a total math illiterate:-))

  5. We need jobs.

Low level manufacturing, textiles, all that we’ve sent to China.

Transfer payments, welfare. That’s just tribute.

  6. It’s not like their voters have to wait until they get off work to vote.
Why, yes, I have been called a rayciiiiisssst! Thank you for noticing.

    1. Aye, anyone that cares to vote finds a way to git er done.
      Meanwhile the cheaters keep grinding,.
      I’m such a sucker for believing…
