    I’m NOT guilty because I’m white/English/Scottish/Irish descent. I’M NOT! What happened before me generations ago, DOES NOT MAKE ME GUILTY OF ANYTHING!

    I’ve had to work hard, and take failures, deal with it, and get back in the race, to be where I am today.I’m not wealthy, but things are working out. NOTHING was handed to me, EVER!

    4. Agreed with the other commenters. The only thing I’d add is that I was not raised to be racist. Groups like BLM are making me racist, because they cannot see me as anything other than a skin colour.

      When I will be defined by them on the basis of my race, then I must look at things in a different way, and seemingly become as racist as they are. Only because I’m using their lens to see the world for a short time. And their lens sucks.

      Their racism is deep, innate, and terrible. I long for the days when I can go back to being colourblind. But if they won’t let me be colourblind, then I must (temporarily, I hope) become as racist as they are. And that takes my attention away from what should be important, to deal with something the would have been resolved if Dr. Martin Luther King had been listened to. But I guess he’s too “white”, or something.

    6. Racism in the western world is nothing more than preferring the company of people who are most like one’s self. Note how ethnic groups all live together in the same neighborhoods. Why is that? Because people like to be among their own. That is also reflected in hiring … Obama hired a gaggle of black people once he was in power for example … Eric Holder, Susan Rice, (Get Back) Loretta Lynch, and the list goes on.

      I have met a lot of people in my life and none of them are what I would call racist. That term has become as common as the word asshole. It’s lost it’s meaning other than as a meaningless, derogatory name-call.

      At this point, if all the guilt ridden, outraged white people would stop kissing negro butt, most of it would go away overnight.

    Haven’t watch any of them in about a decade.
    Got a feeling it won’t be long before the above ‘professional sports’ and a few more will be going the way of print newspapers, –

  13. I left the NHL when six teams became…the Penguins et al. Winnipeggers got screwed with the Jets leaving. Disney on ice ever after. I was working in Red Lake, Ontario and the underground boys would drive to The Peg to watch the Jets play. Sounds like another Kaepernick clone who hopes the cry of “racism” will blind coaches/gms/owners to his lack of ability and/or willingness to work hard. Sad comparison to Jerome Iginla who was widely touted as being the first “black” player (though I always thought of him as being “cafe-au-lait” at best and having an interesting ancestry) but who always did his best with no winging. Similarly Theron Fleury, who is of Métis heratiage; never did he bring his heritage into his struggles. This player dishonours his “race”.

  19. I have been a hockey fan all of my life. I have played, coached and watched. I still play. Neither Matt Dumba for any of the other players featured during the opening to the playoffs has ever really suffered any racist backlash-If they had, they wouldn’t have received the support necessary to play at the highest levels. I would like to know what their experiences with “systemic racism” have been. Sure, they may have been slighted at some point but who hasn’t. This is the NHL politicizing the game in order to gain more sponsorship, TV contracts etcetera.
    Ron McLean’s obsequious blather after the ceremony was more than disappointing. Once admirable in my eyes, he has become a virtue-signalling weasel who would throw his mother under the bus to gain approval from the “woke.”.
    All of this is part of a rapidly escalating corporate and cultural suicide. I’m saddened that something that has provided me with so much happiness and pleasure has been sacrificed on the altar of woke, political correctness.

  35. I am not a racist and I don’t have to listen to jerks like Ron MacLean to be told otherwise. I specifically PVR games so I can pass him bye. Judge a man by what he says and does not the colour of his skin. That is my standard and Ron MacLean is a massive fail.

    As pointed out above slavery was not restricted to blacks. People around the world have been forced into slavery down thru history. Indentured servants were slaves as their service was manipulated to extend their forced work. Whites did not trap blacks in Africa, other blacks did along with their Arab compatriots. Some of the biggest slave owners in the USA were blacks themselves. Just as native North Americans regularly claim racism their own history is full of slavery prior to white arrival. Unfortunately the harsh reality of life is that human capital can become an asset to exploit.

    So my ancestors were forced out of Germany in 1732. Who do I lodge a claim for reparations to????

  44. Just finished a book by Colleen McCullough on Julius Caesar. She has written so many historical books on Rome like the Grass Crown. Slavery was everywhere with 1/4 of Rome being slaves. Slaves had their own slaves! Caesar would conquer a town and the entire population would be sold. This was everywhere throughout history. Freed slaves were also a critical part of the infrastructure. At the same time Rome, Athens, Alexandria, Persia, Egypt built the greatest structures, cities and empires the world had ever seen.

    Black Africa as Jared Diamond wrote never built a city, put a sail to a mast, had a building over 2 stories or a written language. We see in the black areas of our cities today that not much has changed with ever growing violence. Brilliant people like Thomas Sowell decry what is happening but our lefties just encourage this disastrous trend.

    Muslims have slaves even today but are they criticized, not a chance.

    Like for different reasons whether Black, Brown, White, Asian, but equally all the same. I think I fall in that category, but at times I do like everyone of each race equally, but for similar reasons.

  50. With sports, if it don’t got wheels, I’m ain’t interested! With being a racist, I object to racism, but it is tribal, and inherent in all races. I don’t care what skin color you are, I only care if you don’t have a big chip on your shoulder. I try to treat everyone equally and fairly. If you whine about everything being racist, then you are probably racist yourself. If someone such as a woke SJW accuses me of being racist, or of “cultural appropriation” they are probably trying to get a reaction out of me. If they use electricity or a vehicle, or a host of other Whitey inventions, I would return the CA accusation. This assumes they are of another race, but if they are white, then I’d tell em to go pound sand, cuz that would be more productive. We’ve all been culturally appropriating other cultures for centuries, whether it’s food, clothing, ideas, or intelligence, so their accusation is a bit late to the conversation.

    As for racist accusations, I would simply state that I’m not, but even if I was, it’s not illegal, but if they want to think that, then go think that, I REALLY don’t care. For me, I’m grounded enough to know who I am, and what I am, so their attempts to shame me will not work. Just as with using a TV remote, I would just turn them off and walk away, they are not worth the investment of my time and energy.
