    Anybody in mainstream journalism who has a real problem with this is free to leave the trade and make an honest attempt to learn to code.

  12. I took the time to read the extensive resignation letter, and felt that it was at least an honest appraisal of how bad the NYT, and for that matter, 99% of media is today! Because of the current media’s worship of the “Progressive” side of things, was changed from basic objective news to opinion journalism, we therefore only get progressive opinion journalism, and not factual information that we each can absorb and arrive at an acceptable conclusion with. This is what has caused the rise of The Rebel, and the True north, independent media outlets, plus networks such as Fox news. It is interesting that the overwhelming majority of such, are conservative leaning outlets. Of course, those being conservative, as opposed to being libertarian is also telling. I don’t want to be told what to think or opine on, I want the factual information to be able to arrive at my own conclusions and opinions base on that factual information. However, due to the left and right leanings of each such media, I, and I suspect other SDA posters end up combing through multiple news feeds to arrive at those conclusions, which swallows up usually more time, on a daily basis than I can really afford, just so I can arrive at my personal conclusion. That is what pisses me off about this partisan media crap.

    The fact that the so called main stream media, has been bought and paid for by the Liberal government in Canada, means that they are no longer independent news centers. $600 million buys a lot of loyalty, and if the Libs continue to reign, (or is that, “Rain”) beyond the next election, I bet that even more $$$ will flow to that groveling media. In the US I am not sure of the causes why so much of the media leans so “Progressive”, but the effect is pretty much the same. So, as most of the average citizens only absorb what only one media outlet tells them, and they simply take it in as factual. It’s only news and political junkies such as myself, that take the time to attempt to be better informed. I am convinced that if all citizens, or at least most of our respective country’s citizens, took the time to become better informed, our societies would be much more impressive, decent, and lawful because of it. Politicians in both our country’s take the full advantage of this citizenry political and informational illiteracy!

    Unfortunately, we have no way to improve the lives of us all, due to this herd ignorance! I also believe that keeping the populations dumbed down is also deliberate. Just keep them entertained just as they did in Roman times. We really haven’t advanced anywhere near as much as we think we have, at least not politically and socially. As has been stated by many, many times, on SDA, all we can do is stock up on booze and popcorn for a front row seat to the decline of Western society and our way of life!

    Sad truly sad. Indeed, “We’re on the eve of destruction”, and the rate of decline is speeding up as well.

    The Woke thugs at the NY Times won’t change but if she has screenshots of what she spoke of, she could have a very successful lawsuit against the NY Times. It might also give the newspaper legal justification for firing 100% of these thugs. We can only hope.

  14. That really is an outstanding resignation letter. I expect it will get broad exposure and with luck, inflict pain upon the NYT. Not hard to see why they hired her and not hard to see why she told them to stuff it.

  16. Sounds like a cover being crafted. Neither side is capable of civilized debate anymore. Each reacts to criticism with profanity at best.

    But this post sounds critical of Twitter. I feel cognitive dissonance. Is not this blog 99% about re-twitting outside of Twitter now? That and picking up 2-week old Rebel bits.

    1. Twitter is mostly a dumpster fire, but there are still many great follows linking to great content. So yes, Kate links to various tweets. And if you hate this site, then why the hell are you here? Talk about cognitive dissonance.

    2. I don’t actually follow the Rebel very closely, and I don’t care if the link is a couple of weeks old if it’s good material. I link to Twitter because in many cases it’s the only platform carrying the content. 10 years ago the links were primarily to other blog sites, but most of those are gone now. For some reason, SDA has survived the great dying off, and I like to think it’s because I get at least some things right.

      If you have a better model for a blog — the world is your oyster. Walk the walk. I know you can make it happen. And be sure to check back in and let me know how it goes. Maybe I’ll toss you a pity link. You never know.

  17. The NYT has been drifting left for a long time, but the recent protests seem to have accelerated the process. The dam has broke, and the SJW crowd are taking control. The old-time liberals there are back on their heels.

    I don’t do Twitter, Facebook, etc, etc. I try to avoid Google and so on. I also don’t do much in viewing U tube, or much else of electronic social interaction. I do visit lots of news feeds and one or two blogs, SDA has become a favorite as has Rebel and Fox! Yes that rez letter was critical of the NYT and Twitter, and all the lefty opined idiots at the NYT. She was being bullied by her peers at the NYT for doing the job she was hired for, and they have no tolerance for anyone that does not think “Progressively”.
    I’m not sure why you consider SDA as a rehash of Twitter. I find it informative, a way to trade thoughts with loosely like minded people that have a brain and an Informed opinion, and sometimes amusements to share, as opposed to the SJW numbskull Twitterati grievance whiners who only seem to collectively complain about minutia, trivia, and PC offenders….oh and BLM. At least on SDA, most are rational thinkers and enjoy the interaction from others.

  22. I have always thought the writing of Bari Weiss was above average. I always thought her training wasn’t from a journalism school. She writes too well to have attended one of those. And besides, journalism is dead. Haven’t you heard? When she left the WSJ for the NYT, aka “the old dead, grey lady” and “all the news that fits” I thought she had sold out to the monster of non-journalism. Maybe she did but, I find her letter refreshing. It’s like when your gut is in a turmoil and you finally puke on your own or somebody elses shoes. It is just like depositing a 16 inch pizza and two pitchers of beer on the sidewalk. You feel better immediately and the cool sweat on your forehead feels so good. Yep. The the nyt is equal to vomit.

  24. The self described “centrist” sounded like she didn’t understand why she was now within a hostile environment at the NYT. Centrists are compromisers responsible for consistently destroying good ideas. The result is the so called center shifts continually to the left. The left doesn’t compromise while the centrists do, making yesterday’s moderates today’s alt right. It’s why the cultural Marxists now control the institutions and we are now watching them eat their own.

  25. If it is any consolation just think of her resignation as a sign that at least one more person has seen the light. For those of us that are long of tooth and short of hair it is one more very miniscule victory, but victory it is. It’s a Sair Fecht, but one worth fighting. Keep the Faith, Deus Vult. Oh! I may have overstepped myself here, that could be interpreted by some as a signal of something or other.
