Blog Notes

We’ve done some much needed updates, and thus the site isn’t looking quite the same as before. Still some work to do — just a note to let you all know what’s going on.

  1. I’m actually digging the funky new headline font.  D00d.
    {takes another hit from bong}

  2. “I’m actually digging the funky new headline font”

I don’t like that it turns green when I mouse over it.

Now I’ve got a picture of Elizabeth May stuck in my head.

  3. Kate, I will take substance over aesthetics any day. I couldn’t care much less about the look, just keep up the great content. BTW, with today’s strong anti-conservative wokeness, I am glad you still don’t require commenters to use our real names.

I again thank you and your team for supplying an oasis of sanity in an otherwise insane, back-asswards, leftarded world.

    1. You know where the door is. Unless you’re financially supporting Kate for this wonderful site (and thus have money in the game), your constant whining is not appreciated by some of us.

    2. Please explain how “browser canvass” is not just another one of your constant “that time of the month” rants.

  4. whew. I thought the visible changes were because of the brandy in my coffee. I’m so happy to be wrong! (hic)

Looks good, works just as well as before (which is very good).

  5. As they say at SDA If the world was run by women, we would still be living in the same web page, but with really nice fonts. Actually, I am unmoved either wya. It’s the content which amuses me.

  6. Now that drudge has become Woke Central and vacuums up every anti-trump headline on the planet, SDA is the first site I visit when I fire up the iPad. Then it’s over to Insta and then AOS. All three blogs seem to understand the more you try to fancy up the place, the more maddening and unreadable it becomes. And just the right amount of commenters. Less is more. Kate is a treasure.

  7. Kate, I tried the new look on phone, tablet and laptop. All three look great. The new font is especially easy to read on the smaller screens. I access the site via Firefox. There seems to be a slight improvement in response/refresh time as well. Cheers.

  8. Looks good. And many thanks, Kate, for the blog. It’s one of the few Canadian sites worth reading.

  9. Kate, thanks for all that you do, love your work, a voice of reason in a world of increasing madness.

    Time for a drink..

  10. I love your site. It’s my go to when I can’t sleep. No, I don’t mean it puts me to sleep. Lol I mean I can catch up on interesting items, especially in the sense of the Chinese curse “May you live in interesting times” and the Biblical apocalypse sense. Reading prophecy is like reading SDA. It’s both scary and wondrous.

Please go with the site secure. It’s worth it for several reasons.

  11. Looks good, EXCEPT……

There’s still a link to Drudge, which is now a decidedly LEFT website, much like Bourque.

You removed Bourque some time ago, now it’s time for Drudge to be cancelled!

  12. Agree regarding Drudge – the new lefty and agree regarding the new look. I do hope the small dead gopher in the upper left can resist the SDA changes which you indicated are ongoing.
Love the site and the exchange of thoughts herein.
    Well done Kate!

  13. You can get a SSL certificate for free – up to 3 domains if memory serves – at ZEROSSL. Its a bit of a PITA the first time through but it gets easier with time. They’re only good for 3 months but did I mention – they’re free. The whole SSL thing is a colossal goat f*** but I think search engines do rank you higher if you have HTTPS in front of your domain.

  14. You da best Kate. Lookin’ good. Just wish you would get on ‘Gormley’ and talk some smack as only you can (used to)!
Sadly it’s pretty much an unpainted canvas out there and three quarters of the masses are totally oblivious to anything threatening. We’re screwed.

  15. You know what you’re doing Kate.

I don’t always see Reader’s Tips (busy times) so I thought I’d leave a link to an article about Shellenberger “The Quick Brown Scientist Jumps Over the Lazy Hack”

    It has a good quote:
” ‘Global warming’ and the tactics of its scientific proponents look much more like a political campaign than a scientific matter. It is internationalist (seeking to reduce the influence and prosperity of nation states in the face of a ‘global’ threat); it is absolutist (brooking no compromise or negotiation); it rides roughshod over other interests (e.g. for food, for power); it sacrifices the present for an unknowable future; it discounts the benefits of warming; it is a single issue campaign (ignoring the rest of life and other values); and finally, by seeking to bankrupt the developed nations of the West by driving fuel costs up unsustainably, it will actually undermine the potential (through research and development) to deal with the problem, to the extent that there is one.”

  16. “Do you notice anything different ?”

The words every married man dreads. At least now I have a snappy comeback.

“Yeah. Did you change your font ?”

    : o )
