32 Replies to “Here’s what Progressives Regressives Really Think Of Entrepreneurs”

  1. When Musk’s name comes up, the word “entrepreneur” doesn’t come to my mind.

    1. He started PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, StarLink, and Solar City. One of those companies is bankrupt, three of them are worth billions, and one day StarLink will make him the world’s richest man. How many companies have you started? If one or more, do you consider yourself an entrepreneur?

        1. If the fools set the system up to be milked, why would anyone not try and take advantage of that. I am not a fan of corporate welfare and hand outs though. I am a fan of tax breaks and deferments. If you have no taxes in hand because a company isn’t there, then letting them relocate and giving them a break will allow you to collect taxes from the employees, as well as collect taxes from a business sometime down the line. Handing them a cheque though, they just piss that away and move on, re Solyndra.

      1. “How many companies have you started? If one or more, do you consider yourself an entrepreneur ”

Two. But the ones I started were without government handouts. So although I’m by no means an “entrepreneur” like musk, I don’t wear his other hat either: parasite.

        1. I admire Musk for bucking the control freaks and re-opening his business. But I agree with you Jamie – without massive subsidies, Tesla would have been out of business many years ago and SpaceX (which was funded by Tesla subsidies) would never have got off the ground. (pun intended)

          1. Without subsidies it would never have started and without them it would go bankrupt.

    2. He’s a creative genius. Who else has the spine to call the ridiculous global lock-down ‘fascism’?
We watched a two-hour interview of Musk today, and he was straightforward and interesting. I’ve always thought that he might be an alien or a hybrid. He just seemed so weird, but he spent years in Canada when he was young, so that explains it.

    3. Once again the hatefest comes along for Musk. Maybe one day the commenters here will actually gain the wisdom they profess to have on every other topic. While Musk is certainly an eccentric billionaire business, he is a businessman and a pretty damn good one. You don’t have to agree with all his decisions to still respect his overall success, yes that damn Tesla truck is awful!

Nevertheless, calling him subsidy boy or related names only destroys your credibility not his, shows you envy, your lack of actual wisdom. SpaceX alone is going to transform society (assuming the lefties don’t kill us all first) and there has been NO subsidies for SpaceX, not a damn thing.

No I am not going to tell you why SpaceX is changing the world, if you don’t already know SpaceX then you’ve no damn business making a comment about his business abilities or businesses.

      1. “Nevertheless, calling him subsidy boy or related names only destroys your credibility not his, shows you envy, your lack of actual wisdom. ”

And defending Musk destroys your credibility, shows that corporate ethics matter little to you, and puts your lack of actual wisdom on display for all to see.

Musk is a parasite of the first order.

        1. You are certainly allowed to display your ignorance, on full, for the world to see. You may think him a parasite, but he is dramatically changing every business environment he gets into. SpaceX in particular has completely re-worked and invigorated the global space landscape and to disavow that is truly a show of ignorance. He has done more in the last 10 years there than the rest of the world combined for the last 60, without any subsidy.

But what the hell, just call him subsidy boy and make yourself feel good. You can certainly stack that accomplishment alongside musk any day. /sarc off

  2. Did you see Musk’s tweet a little lower on that thread? “Message received.” If you own a vacant manufacturing plant in Texas…now is the time to do a sales call.

  3. Gonzalez is the poster twat for Cunning Stunt. As stupid as the day is long and twice as corrupt. She makes Stage 4 cancererous meat sack AOC seem like a benign tumor.

  4. CA State Politicians like her are on a rapid trajectory to BANKRUPT the State of CA. They understand NOTHING of economics. How does this woman plan to plug the holes in the already UN-funded CALPERS and CALSTRS Pension Plans? By removing whatever “subsidies” TESLA has received (please list them all for clarity Ms. Gonzalez). Puhleeze. It is precisely because of PUBLIC workers UNIONS that CALPERS and CALSTRS are bankrupt and unfunded. The greedy UNIONISTAS like her have been GRABBING stacks of tax dollars with both hands for years … receiving as much as 90% of their spiked highest salaries in lifetime pension payments. This IDIOT woman actually believes money comes from Unicorn farts.

    1. Kenji.

Sorry to say, as a retired firefighter/medic from San Diego. I’m part of this mess.
But I saw this coming years ago. The state can’t keep handing out one hundred dollar bills to the retired, while the taxpayers are only getting ten bucks more.

      1. My wife’s CA teachers retirement fund will make up a substantial part of our retirement income. She went into teaching only after raising our 3-children and only has barely 20 years of service. So her retirement payments are quite modest. If the State finds the need to trim back any of her payments … we will be eating Top Ramen in our golden years … WITHOUT added chicken. So, our final years are entirely dependent upon politicians like this blithering idgiot. Excuse me while I get sick.

My wife isn’t receiving a CA Prison Guard UNION pension which easily top $100k/yr. More like 1/3 of that. It is a FACT that the CA teachers (all teachers below the UC system) receive only a small fraction of what Hwy Patrol Officers, UC Professors and support staff, Air Resources Board bureaucrats … and sorry … Firefighters receive.

My local Fire Chief (poster boy for spiked pensions) … renegotiated his salary … spiked his pension to a total of $277,000.00 – for Life! (He was barely 50 yo) … and quit the next day. He then went back to work for another Fire district collecting more than $500,000.00/year in salary and pension. Sorry … but that is unsustainable INSANITY. ONE single Fire Chief in a sleepy little suburban FD … is costing a $HALF MILLION/year!!?? to the taxpayers of the State!? Fucking-A!!! Thats more piggish and greedy than a Billionaire who has actually CREATED wealth in our economy. I actually prefer we return to a 100% volunteer Fire Force than pay these kind of disgusting Fire Fighter salaries. Sorry. I’m sure you’re a fine person.

CA government is out of fkcuing control … at all levels … city, County, and State

  5. Musk is a pathetic corporate welfare case. Yeah Paypal was good. Everything else has cost the taxpayer billions.

    F*ck Elon Musk.

    1. My personal opinion … F*cck TESLA. I have no interest in Elon’s filthy eco virtue signaling saloon. But he has every RIGHT to build and sell these overpriced contraptions to as many suckers he can find. And if we can STILL manage to allow “essential” businesses to remain open (with virtually NO infections) … then why not an automobile factory? And if one of his employees comes down with the virus … 1 in 10,000 is certain to happen. Then impose contact tracing and quarantine. No … not the entire TESLA factory … but only those few people any TESLA worker would be within arms reach of. This whole “essential” and “non-essential” business nonsense is FASCIST … Totalitarian … fascism. Talk about picking winners and losers … smh

    2. “Yeah Paypal was good.”

Until it stopped processing legal sales of firearms, because in the end California commies are all the same. F*ck Elon Musk … with a nail studded two by four dipped in tobacco sauce. Let them eat each other.

  6. Oh, yes! Ilon Musk f**ks everyone, so f**k him.
His job history on his resume is filled with taking what is not his. He made his fortunes by taking what was not his, just like Zukerberg did. They are not businessmen, they are not enterpreneurs – no, they are money laundering fronts for mafias. One does not become rich overnight after coming from Africa where his parents flew and airplane. One does not become rich overnight after stealing his school’s database.

If you, “conservatives” do not understand that excusing anything as long as it is done by a business owner turns away the fence sitters, you are stupid, not JT whom you label stupid too often. You will justify absolutely anything as long as it is business. You should not. There are absolute evils: fraud, theft, pilfering, corruption, environment pollution, neglect of healthy working condition, etc. Do not justify or excuse them and many of the centrists may swing to our side.

There are plenty honest businessmen/women who struggle every day of their lives to stay afloat, but these monsters in designer suits are not poster boys/girls of conservatism. Stop being blind – you are only running yourselves into the corner and whine there that nobody likes you. You dig your own grave.

    1. C.

You know nothing about (Conservatives) Musk is not one or a good business guy.

Coming from a young kid who worked for his parents, trying to make a living out in laying carpet. tile and what ever paid the dang bills.

      Pound sand!

    1. Just in case you were wondering what actual leadership looks like after years of Justin Trudeau.

      1. I can compare my stupid cat favourably to Trudeau. Why would you even raise that comparison?

  7. Well, not a fan of Musk, but in this..??
    Good on him.

And then what’s this BS of some workers were being “intimidated” to go back to work”
WTF does that even mean.? So, you are getting free money from the state and prefer to sit on your useless ASS is what I think that is. Fine then, you just lost your job. I’m sure there’s some millennial who’d be more than happy to replace you poor “intimidated” souls.

UNIONS: The ROOT of ALL Socialist – Communist FILTH on the planet.
    Thanx a bunch Karl.

  8. Lest anyone forget, this is the same Rep. Lorena S. Gonzalez who “…introduced Assembly Bill 5, which passed in September 2019 and required many workers to be classified as employees rather than independent contractors, giving workers more protections under labor and minimum wage laws. However she has come under heavy criticism from multiple unintended casualties of the freelance industry for whom the broad and vague legislation has caused massive losses of income and opportunity. Most notably from freelance writers, for whom the AB5 language on the number of submissions allowable to one company (35 per year) are by Gonzalez’s own admission completely arbitrary and by writers testimony a very low number….” She’s is (and this redundant) a ‘presumptive’ taker; the State ‘presumes’ private/commercial industry will always be there, available and ready for tax monies to be ‘taken’ (aka, ‘stolen’). (Quotation from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorena_Gonzalez)

    1. Apologies for the typo–‘She is’, not ‘She’s is’…too fast w/the edits while also working the day job. 😉

  9. watching the clock and they’re hoping / gambling with $$$$$$$$$$$ that are not their own – because they have seen this before in history – fiat money that comes their way, not knowing when it will run out. they also know there is a guaranteed chair personally available when the music stops. it’s a parlour game and for them, it’s just fun! why not? what else are they going to do with their lives?

  10. Yeargh tis a filibustering.
Let fly the mizzen and hoist the Jolly Roger me boys and strike a blow fer the brethren of the coast.
