  9. My wife has a bunch of relatives who used to live in California. There’s one nephew left. The rest of them have left the state and are in places like Idaho, Texas and Wyoming. That’s the only solution. Just get out and let the place collapse and rot.

    I have been contracting for the past 11 years. My last gig was with the Canadian startup company that got bought up by a US giant recently. They since terminated the only two contractors there – myself and another fellow down in the States.
    I have spoken with a number of Canadian companies fully owned by the US parent companies, and none of them would hire a contractor, while I would never become an employee.
    It is a trend.
