  1. I suspect their families are being well cared for until the sentences are commuted. With the hundreds of thousands killed in war, why the concern over a single traitor? Was he a CIA pet? A quadruple agent?

  2. Why is he referred to as a Washington Post journalist? Didn’t he write, like ONE article for them? Why are they lending him credibility. Nevermind. It’s so bloody obvious.

  3. I like Ezra but to be fair, the Taliban wasn’t around until 1992. These are Afghan fighters, probably supported and armed by the CIA. Still it’s wasn’t very “reporterly” or professional, of him to make himself part of the story, then again he may have wanted to appear sympathetic to their cause, or maybe he was just an idiot. We could ask him if the Saudis hadn’t offed him. The why he was offed is the bigger story.

  4. The date on the photo is May 4, 1988. Taliban was founded October 10, 1994. There was no Taliban in 1988.

Of course there was jihad and mujahideen — warmly embraced by none other than conservative leaders Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.

    1. In all fairness, I expect neither the UK nor U.S. knew what the mujahideen would morph into. Then again, the enemy of my enemy is my friend as per the Cold War with the Soviets.

      1. I have friends from Afghanistan and the way they explained it to me was there were the Mujahadeen who were led by Ahmad Shah Massoud and supported by the USA. According to my friend, he actually was a hero, great man, beloved by most, adored for his just approach to life, his profound respect for women and his promotion of education. The Taliban OTOH were largely made up of boys from Afghan refugee families in Pakistan who were placed in Saudi run “schools”. These were places boys could get food but they were also indoctrination centres and places of horrific sexual abuse. Saudi Arabia got rid of their worst pedophiles and worst radicals by shipping them off to lead these schools full of Afghan refugee boys in Pakistan. Many Afghan boys were also stolen and sold into the camel racing/sex abuse trade in Saudi Arabia. The Taliban led by Mullah Omar then attacked and took over Afghanistan and eventually also took in Al Qaeda. Ahmad Shah Massoud was assassinated by Al Qaeda two days before the 911 strike on New York. While they may not have been widely known as Taliban at the time, the “Arab Mujahadeen” were Saudi fighters in Afghanistan fighting with the Taliban were also called Taliban because they were part of the Taliban At that time they were also intimately connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. Ezra is not wrong. He is just using the newer name for the same bunch of murderous terrorists. As for Jamal Khashoggi, he’s well known by experts on this stuff for being a Muslim Brotherhood operative. (Now a terrorist organization in Saudi Arabia.) I suspect that is why he was murdered.

    2. Jihadis by any name are still jihadis, evil and dangerous. Call them anything you want they are evil followers of islam.

  5. I think the Saudis will have big recruiting problems now. Imagine carrying out the king’s orders and getting sentenced to death for it. If I were a Saudi government employee I’d consider leaving immediately.

  6. Don’t care – he’s far from the only flaky journalist on the lot, and he didn’t deserve to be murdered like that. And as for MbS who’s walking-off, hands in pockets and whistling, “Khashoggi didn’t dismember himself”.

  7. I’m fine with both sides losing.

Not trying to channel Henry Kissinger…

And, I don’t see a difference between the Taliban, the “Afghan fighters”, the mujahideen, the folks who are still somewhat comfortably in power in Iran, or Iraq, or Saudi Arabia, or Indonesia, or setting off bombs in the south of the Philippians or those folks I saw on the C-train here in downtown Calgary today.

They all read from the same book.

  8. Bah…who cares. They can make as many good Muslims as they like. Untrustworthy bastards…the whole lot.

  9. As far as I am concerned if they were murdering 100 of these traitorist murderous bastards a week that should be considered as under achievment. Like someone said above they all read from the same book and they all have a common enemy. That common enemy is anyone who reads a different book or anyone stupid enough to swallow Turdeaus multiculture bullsh!t.

  10. That face looks like it was photoshopped into the photograph. Is it Khashoggi’s face covering someone else, or is that someone else’s face covering his?

  11. Cash Hog guy never existed.
    Ezra must be confused.
    Go ahead prove a negative.
The Saudi Prince had one of his opponents loyal agents butchered at the Embassy in Turkey.
    Good for him.
The Ruling Princes opponents, who are losing, are just pissed they never thought of such a creative use for an embassy.
As for being a “Washington Post Correspondent”,that is hardly a credential these days.
Certainly does not make a ficticious creature a credible journalist.

  12. Strange how when the media talks about that murder in Turkey, they never mention the hundreds of journalists that are imprisoned there by the fascist muslim dictator.
