Suboptimal Parenting and Other Wonders

Oddments for the weekend, including some questionable construction materials; a monster in a cupboard; a dining experience to remember; unorthodox deer retrieval; and a reminder that children are not nunchucks.

I repeat, not nunchucks.

  1. Nice time lapse…!! Getting to keep the Stars stationary would require a Star Tracker I do believe…? like a Star Adventurer or some form of equatorial mount.

I recently bought one, looking to do some of this stuff over the holidays in some DARK Sky area..Pridis comes to mind..!!

As for that dumb cunning stunt using her baby as a battering ram…be NICE.!! These are your new “diversity is our strength” hard working – good citizen neighbours dontcha know…??

I honestly believe we need to bring every Euro Centric human on the planet to North America – and give the boot to all those that are not. Let Putin & Xi Ping deal with em.

    Straight exchange.

All cultures are not in any way shape or form EQUAL.

I bought a clock drive for my reflector telescope. It does a pretty good job in tracking whatever object I’m looking at. It drifts a bit because the instrument is portable and the alignment isn’t all that accurate. Still, I’ve been able to take photos of the sun and the moon with it.

      1. All those stationary bits are just an illusion of our short time span perspective. The Earth is only rotating at around 1000 KM/hr at typical Canada latitudes (slower as you go North – please do not make me calculate the actual speed for Pridis). This is the movement you see in the video. The earth obits the Sun 100x faster. The Sun and all the starts orbit the galaxy at much faster speeds. The Milky Way and Andromeda are on a collision course at around 100 KM/second !

        1. You are tracking angular motion not linear motion. The Earth orbits the Sun 1/365th a revolution in a day, or a little less than a degree, as opposed to the Earth having spun around 360 degrees, duh.
OTOH, of course it is only an illusion. We are part of the spinning Earth, and have grown so used to it we never realize it. An object at rest in space would seem to come flying at us.

Go further west to where the Bow crosses the hwy. Wide open southern sky, still have issues with southern towns interfering but not bad. Or, go east out past hwy 22 and shoot south…..very wide sky. Shot a lot out there, northern lights and Milky Way.

    1. I think I’ll go to the local gym and watch the glute training. I may be old but it’s nice to know I’m not dead

  2. I love the first two comments below the video…

Paraphrasing… “I’ve never seen anyone use a child as a weapon before!”

“You obviously never saw my wife in divorce court.”

I actually once witnessed a lowlife in-law of a friend pick up his infant son to defend himself from another guy he had drunkenly pissed off. After things cooled down, my friend(it was his nephew he had used) walked up to him and laid him out with one punch.

    That was justice.

  3. Nunchucks, nun chucks, nun chucking, hmmmmm.
    HEY, Nun Chucking!
Since they frown upon the dwarf tossing as a bar game, just maybeeeeee………..

  4. Something tells me that woman will just keep popping out nunchucks at a 9mo. clip, till she’s barren. Meh. she’ll just reload as needed.
