It’s good to be rich and a Liberal

“We work with the municipalities and federal government to submit a list of what we think, some projects that would be submitted — we put some on, the national government wanted the airport put on and we will put it on,” McNeil said.

  1. Reminds me when his father was prime minister(Pierre not Fidel). Groper Senior funded airports all over Canada to win votes. A lot of them turned into white elephants.

    1. And Mirabel, outside Montreal, was built under the first turd’s reign. It cost $500 million in 1975 – $4.4 billion in 2019 $ and never had the passenger numbers. The white elephant was ultimately shut down in 2004 and converted to primarily handling freight. I wonder if SNC was involved?

      1. The story I heard was that once the idea of Mirabel was hatched Marc Lalonde weasel cab minister in T1’s government quietly put together his team and assembled the land base for Mirabel. Mirabel was farm land – flat as a pool table. The farm land was bought up. Mirabel was announced. The libranos found a willing seller and the paving began.

Today the airport land is going back to farms. The whole project from start to finish involved government graft….also known as stealing

    2. remember the ultimately NON built airport east of tranna?
wtf was it supposed to be called?

anyways, the takeaway from THAT TURD00 1.0 snafu was the FACT that *after* the decision was reversed, ie to not build, AAALLLLLLLLLL the former landowners were given 1st place in line to buy back their thug LIEberal expropriated land.
at the NEW much higher ‘market value’.
      whoopdie doo !!!

and even then, only report 4 months…so it doesn’t look as bad as it really is

        1299 up to April…4 months –over 5000 a year

Figures from London’s Metropolitan police showed that knife crime surged by 16 per cent in the capital year-on-year in 2018, as Britain’s crime epidemic continues.

There were 1,299 stabbings in London up to the end of April, according to official statistics from the Met Police.

In 2017-18, there were 137 knife offences for every 100,000 people in the capital.

2018 was London’s bloodiest year in almost a decade as the murder toll reached 134.

      2. Ken…look at that link close….what are they not reporting

…..how many were stabbed and did not die…..only 4 months worth

        it’s over 5000 a year

  2. But think of all the new waitress jobs!! Esp. if you’re young, cute, and like old men groping you …

  3. I didn’t know the government paid for airports. A lot of things about the federal government involving payment of cash about which Albertans know nothing.

    1. “… about which Albertans know nothing.” I think you are mistaken. I think most Albertans do know one thing about that cash, i.e. where the federal government gets much of it.

    2. They own a lot of airports including in big cities. The local airport authorities run them but the feds own them.

It wouldn’t surprise me if YYC is owned by the feds.

When bongo came to power he looked at selling airports to raise some cash. He abandoned the idea as there probably wasn’t enough in it for quebek.

      1. All registered airports are Federal Land. One of the consequences is that any construction on an airport does not require a Building Permit since building permits are under Provincial jurisdiction.

I have designed and supervised several building projects on airports (one is under construction right now) and none of them needed a Permit. I just had to state that the construction meets the National Building Code and we went ahead – nobody checked to see if I was right.

While this sounds great, if anything goes wrong, I have no defence by saying that a Plan Examiner checked my design and approved it – I designed and approved it myself!

  4. And why are taxpayers paying for Groper and his muslim ministers to burn jet fuel to Toronto for a dinner and meeting, called The Canadian-Muslim vote. This is obviously an election effort.

  5. Haters, think of all the CO2 emissions they’ll save not having to take a limo from the regular airport

  6. Bug, or feature?
Ask a Canadian Maritimer who he is voting for and it’s simply a question of who will give him the most of your money.

Taking millions from you and spending it in the Maritimes is considered good and proper government in their culture.
That is their only voting criteria after decades of depending on the public teat and institutionalized welfare.

    1. The media reports today, that new warships will cost ten billion dollars more than expected. This is what happens when you only give contracts to Quebec and Maritime shipyards to buy votes.

  7. And once again he didn’t answer the question, in fact he didn’t even address the issue raised. Can’t wait to cast my vote this October.

    1. Trudeau answered the question with the same words he’s used every time any question has been asked throughout the entire time he’s been PM.
No answer just bullshit. For that alone our media should be ashamed because ultimately it is they who allow him to get away with this garbage.

    2. Exactly, and furthermore, Trudeau is a lying SOB. The ‘middle class’ got a tax increase, ie, my teacher son-in-law and our office clerk daughter, with three kids, plus now some additional carbon tax.

  8. The airport funding reminds me of Chretien and his golf course development. If i remember correctly, he pretended to sell the course based on some agreement written 9n a napkin. Just such blatant stealing. Still, foolish Canadians let this happen again and again.

    1. Chretien and the napkin episode came about because he was lobbying to get a loan from a Canadian Federal Government Bank when he in fact owned a share of the property in question. Chretien was in a direct conflict of interest but low and behold an agreement for sale written on a napkin showed up and absolved him of ownership and saved the day.
Andrew Coyne of the National Post was the only reporter who showed any interest in the whole crooked deal.

      1. Chretien had a very cozy relationship with Zacardelli when Zach was the head of the rcmp. Mrs Chretien speaks Italian and Zach was often invited to 24 Sussex and the 2 would converse.

Things worked out for both Zach and chretien when they had ethical lapses that could (should) have resulted in criminal charges. Da liddle thief on the hotel deal and Zach with the rcmp pension funds.

It pays to have friends in high places – capiche?

  9. Pierre Trudeau took land from homeowners and farmers to build Pickering Airport which was never built but the PM had fun throwing people off of their property. People didn’t want to sell! The gov’t pushed and pushed and made life miserable for the owners of the land. Son like Father take, take, take and take!!! VOTE OUT THE LIBERALS IN 2019!!

    1. …” but the PM had fun throwing people off of their property. People didn’t want to sell! ”

He was mean to Margaret. I read all her books.

  10. It should also be pointed out that the gazebo that Tony Clement took so much flack for was a community project — That’s right, the community wanted it. Feds did not prescribe it, and of course the dollar amounts were trivial by comparison.

  11. What Trudeau basically was saying in that video clip was, “Let them eat cake”.

    1. The same pork dispensing happened with Chretien on an airfield close to where the Desmarais clan live. This airfield received more funds than all the other similar fields in Canada combined. Of course we must never forget that his daughter France is married to a Desmarais son.
