Coulda Had Max

Coward.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has stripped MP Michael Cooper of his spot on the House of Commons justice committee as punishment for Cooper’s angry confrontation with a Muslim witness in hearings dedicated to online hate.

Earlier this week, Cooper told Faisal Khan Suri he should be “ashamed” after he drew a link between “conservative commentators” and the online history of mosque shooter Alexandre Bissonnette.

Cooper also quoted from the manifesto of the man accused of the mass killings in Christchurch, New Zealand in an attempt to discredit Suri’s testimony.

From the comments: Ironic that a committee that has in its mandate issues surrounding the protection of free speech, is deplatforming a conservative because he asked on what justification a witness before the committee could associate conservatives with the mass murder.

More:

Scheer’s immigration speech followed the same strategy he employed in rolling back his earlier promise to balance the federal budget within two years, by pushing the timeline out to five years.

  1. It just had to happen. Sooner or later the Conservatives would pick a leader who would make Joe Clark look like Rambo.

  2. This is an interesting case study. Before Kim Campbell led the last conservative party to it’s end, how many die hard loyalists were still writing letters to the editor in support of Campbell? How many loyalists urged Peter MacKay to stay the course, that things were just about to get better?

I have come to believe that what we are seeing here, is the end of a political party; Andrew Scheer will be the last leader of the Conservative Party of Canada to contest an election. Whatever the remnants decide to merge with, will be strangled in its turn by the Joe Clark long march through the institutions fifth column.

My advice to Max, is don’t take any calls from Scheer or his successor. Just let it die on its own.

Does Max have a counter intelligence office set up yet to stop the long march taking his new party down too? Cause if you don’t start there, you are doomed.

  3. I have little faith in Canada as a nation. A re-elected Turdeau is likely the best option as it will accelerate the West leaving. Scheer if elected will always be a hostage of eastern interests just as Reform was when it moved east. I was tempted to support the CPC candidate in our riding but being a Westerner he will be a simple pawn.

Bernier means little to me either other than he verbalizes national issues which should be debated. If he pulls 2 or 3% away from the CPC it re-elects Turdeau. True conservatives out West should be spending their time and resources to electing provincial governments with a clear platform towards a new country. Demonstrate your commitment!

  4. I cant stand listening to either Scheer or Trudeau. Scheer is already going back on his promises before he’s even been elected! A Liberal to the core. Max is the only sane person standing up for liberty and personal responsibility.

If Trudeau gets re-elected so be it. I wont have to live with the shame of supporting Scheer. And maybe (though not likely) it will help foster the understanding that Alberta and Saskatchewan need to leave this abusive relationship.

  5. Many here will disagree with me but I don’t necessarily see Scheer taking control of his party’s loose lips as a bad thing. Harper did exactly just that and it made the Canadian news media go nuts because it made the CPC a much smaller target for media to attack. Scheer needs to exert the same control or the media will have a field day painting the blue party red with unintentional poor word choices. Hanging the CPC with rope of their own braiding.

    1. Bowing and scraping to the extremist left wing media didn’t work for Harper and it especially wont work for Scheer.

Attack their dogma, make them look like fools and marginalize the far left. Don’t obey them.

Learn from Trump and even improve on his attacks.

Look at the PPC climate change policy for example. Brilliant! And that just eaned them another donation from me.

      1. Exactly, and well said. Always on the defensive with mewling halfhearted “I promise to be a better Liberal” will not work with the media arm of the Liberal Party. Scheer needed to and needs to attack relentlessly and keep them reeling. But no, what do we get, pretty please, I’m sorry for this and that and everything between and stuff that hasn’t even happened yet no doubt.
