  1. Heh ….
It could be said without exaggeration that the Chinese were freely given the code and nobody, anywhere will want to look who done it.
They have their agents all over the damn world and pay them handsomely.
    They win, we lose.
It will be that way until the ethics prevail if it is not late already.
It’s all a matter of business, yer feelings, ethics, common sense have no place in making money. Money is the monkey god. The billionaire, rich socialist aristocrats have always done it and were praised for their warm and fuzzy, certain Hammer and Eaton come to mind.

Like is the Chinese custom on not losing, saving yer face.

  2. Ever since I can remember, the promises of IT have been: Utopia!

I wonder how much tax-sourced money was spent developing all that software just to have it turned on us?

I wonder, then, about all those ads concerning computerized automobiles. “See! You’ll be more safe than ever when driving with all our GPS, cameras, and radar-like capability! You won’t even have to drive!”

Secondly, how much tax-sourced money has been spent on Climate Change modelling software only to have it turned on us (i.e., the government’s justifying the taking of more money from us in the form of “carbon taxes”).

    Hmmm.

  3. What else has the Deep State been doing in the name of “protecting” US … that’s rebounded to HURT us? How many other (than Snowden) hardcore leftists are employed by Federal Agencies who get hard-on’s from fkcuing-over our National Security?

    1. Kenji, I still have paper, a pen and I do believe the Post Office is still in business, but, much like the internet that which is sent does not always get read or delivered.

      1. A return to ‘analogue’ (my hobby; vinyl records) is growing throughout all generations … perhaps oldy-fashioned things like ‘writing’, and pen pals will return? Only if the scamsters get control of EVERYONES systems.

  4. Kate, that would mean the postal system would have to work. Which, to my surprise it can work reasonably well. I sent a letter from a small prairie community to a large coastal city and it took three days. Faster than walking.

    1. If you mailed a letter in Port Hope Ontario to Kingston Ontario it could take up tp seven days to get delivered. I would be willing to say that a combination of government and union efficiency would be the problem.

      1. OWWG, sent a letter to Europe, registered, over 2 month. Can post isn’t slow, they are phukking dead!!!!

      2. From Port HOpe it maybe goes to Toronto, or could go to Ottawa, and then finally to Kg. Last time anything went “straight” was when the RR was being used. Can’t remember if it was the RR that didn’t want to be bothered as sit certainly worked for the P.O.

  5. Extra Bonus.
    Government crippled by computer virus.
Heh, why do I feel MEH.
Our fearless bureau have raced to make everything digital, whether the taxpayer has digital access or not.
What these accidental shutdowns do,is demonstrate how useless the bureaus really are.
As a homeowner,my statement will be;”Your Computer system lost the records”,tough shit I had the necessary permits and positions, go talk to Joe Blow, recently retired and passed away bureaucrat.
As an aside, recently overheard in one of our “essential agencies”.
Head of Dept” We need more (insert name).
Unnamed persons job: Help industry navigate the rules, regulations and whims of dept.

NEVER A THOUGHT to reducing the rules, regulations and uncertainty.
Computerize it all, then let it burn.

  6. The race for cyber-dominance is irreversible and will be decisive in future warfare. Going low tech, however appealing, is a strategy for head-in-the-sand losers and future slaves. The Huawei blow-back is just the beginning and 20 years advanced from where it should have been addressed. World War III is low kinetic and upon us.

  7. (I think a few people, not me of course as I always get a return, would pay them to shut down the CRA or IRS.)
Remember the Y2K bullsplat that didn’t happen but made buckets of cash for programmers?
The geeks will bring us Skynet…

    1. The question Buddy is how much have you already paid? The refund is meaningless unless it takes you to a position where you have paid zero taxes. Getting back the equivilent of pennies when you have paid tens of thousands, well, who gives a shit.

  8. Has anyone asked whether NSA is actually doing it themselves and blaming it on others. Seems like a lefty thing to do.

  9. All that ‘non-communist’ central planning messed up…gee, that’s too bad…

Jer 17:5  Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

    1. various, are you a complete idiot, or are you strappon, A Canadian, strad???

  10. How many Canadians would survive and for how long during winter. If infrastructure providing heat, electricity, potable water and food became unreliable, intermittent ? How long until chaos ruled and the most primitive survival instincts emerged ?

Prepping isn’t a Canadian thing, except in rural areas where they know. They may have to go days, weeks or longer before infrastructure is restored in an emergency.

We’ve got to see how much chaos reigns from the current Prime Minister’s Office and that of the Privy Council, even when most everyone else is working hard trying to keep society and civilization functioning.

  11. Here is a simple question. If the government developed a malware virus to lock computers, did they also develop a cure? Or is that too much to ask?

  12. Computers will never be secure; the guys who write software are very clever but some work for security and others work to hack. The sides will take turns being on top of the heap.
