Especially if the burglar is a “young black person.” For Mr Stafford Smith and Guardian columnist Decca Aitkenhead – for whom, such things are largely theoretical and not a routine fact of life – anger at being burgled and the subsequent sense of violation are somehow trivial, plebeian and unsophisticated. And so, these enlightened creatures pretend to feel sympathy for habitual criminals who may prey on their neighbours for years, while disdaining the victims’ expectations of lawfulness, and justice, as “idiotic attitudes.”

Physical money represents the hegemonic imposition of capitalism. Capitalism is dominated by white men, who force the white concept of time and work onto vulnerable classes in order to trick them into earning money. What is about socialists who, while claiming to champion the oppressed, are utterly obsessed with taking money and wealth and giving it to said oppressed people. If money and time are so damn evil why do they want it so badly?

Do remember – way back in the day – the reaction of a neighbour who was burgled. In her absence, someone had kicked in a basement window, gone upstairs, and stolen all the presents under the Christmas tree. Said neighbour was devastated. But under her outrage at this home invasion – for that it what it was – I felt there was a greater fear: what if she had been at home and had been confronted by the invaders, what then would have been the outcome?
