The United We Roll convoy has reached Ottawa;

Hundreds of trucks are expected to roll into Ottawa Tuesday to protest the federal government’s policies on the oil industry.
 
The main portion of the United We Roll Convoy set out from Red Deer, Alta., last Thursday and made stops in Regina, Dryden, Thunder Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie before mustering at Arnprior, Ont., just outside the capital.
 

The rally is expected to occupy almost a kilometre of Wellington Street, in front of Parliament.

Those aren’t oil trucks. Those are Reichstag Fire trucks.

    1. You may well be right, but the response of the downtown Toronto media cabal to SNC-Lavalin, et al., has been a surprise to me, with even Tom Mulcair so much as acknowledging on CTV over the weekend that the controversy would stoke tensions between “the two solitudes” (his words).

      Something is going on there, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the convoy were covered extensively, specifically on the narrative of the “double standard” that exists in regard to Quebec and Western Canada (a “new angle” on the situation): it is not clear (yet) whether Mr. Butts interfered in the Lavalin prosecution, but it is certainly true that he was a prime mover on the carbon tax/pipeline/energy policy stuff — both sides of the walnut, so to speak.

      (Disclaimer: I do not trust, so far, any of the Liberal protagonists in the Lavalin business; Mr. Butts, in particular, could easily re-emerge as a campaign management figure in a few weeks time).

  4. With respect, I disagree with OWG’s and SRC’s comments. It is the outsiders and those without any say in govetnment that have to take to the streets and undertake public demonstrations. It takes time, money and hard work to take part in a demonstration like this. And these fine people are coming to Ottawa, petitioning politicians about Western grievences, just as the SNC Lavalin stink rises above the city.       What I am stating is that if you think the convoy will change this governments policies or actions you are very mistaken. Gropenfuhrer will ignore them. The LPC will ignore them. No pipelines will get built as a result of this demonstration. No new real investment will be made by Ottawa in supporting the economy of the Western provinces.

      They simply do not give a fornication. They never will.

      Bernier may hurt the Grits in Quebec and hopefully nowhere else, but pretending we can just separate via an adverse election is haphazard. How have the separatists in Quebec done with their gambits except extorting other provinces’ money (opm)?

      Albertans are dreaming in technicolor if they think opm is heading their way if they get into a snit, or collect their own taxes.

      We should shout it from the rooftops – this government must be removed. The separation ambush strategy will fail.

    3. I would have been FAR easier and cheaper to simply organise a MASS strike and a boycott of ALL fees. Heck organise a bank run. You want change? Stop wasting time in the streets. Modern governments are totally HELPLESS in the face of organised economic action, and all Alberta needed to do was go on strike. Announce mass non-cooperation with any and all Federal employees. And announce a boycott on mortgages, credit card payments, rents, and property taxes. You want to get government’s attention? Bone them HARD in the pocket book – the ONLY place they care about.

      Educate yourself about how the balance of power is now entirely in the consumer’s hands – how utterly helpless they are in the face of a mass refusal by Alberta businesses to collect taxes for Ottawa.

      Otherwise don’t waste my time with these stupid empty gestures that achieve nothing at best, and at worst leave the participants physically injured and crippled, and leave the government looking powerful.

The last thing that should concern Westerners is about whether the CPC is elected in the next federal election. Better that the ‘clown’ is re-elected.

  20. I spoke with one of our CPC MP’s at a meeting last night, and asked if Scheer intended to get out and greet the truckers.
    I said that if necessary, Scheer should make an announcement in the House that he was going outside to meet the convoy, then DO IT!

    The MP said he thought it was a good idea and would mention it in caucus early today. He was catching the 11 PM flight out of here, so hope he made it. This is a great opportunity for Scheer to gain some gravitas in the West,hope he’ll get out there and help make an issue of it.

    Watched CPAC this AM, Charlie Angus did some good work, but it looked like no Cabinet Ministers or the PM were there.

  22. When I was celebrating Canada’s centennial, it was a great time. The country was together, our economy was one of the most stable in the world, and we were going places. then we elected the first Trudeau, and by 1983, the future was gone. Now in 2019, we’re at a pre post Canada apogee. There will be a split of the country, of this there is no doubt. Will it be a manifest destiny event for the U.S. or will there be a third nation added to the North American Continent. Time will tell. But the worst part of any future is that the leftists will still be with us, eroding any foundation for stability we strive to construct.

  24. Was there today. Truckers moved on a while back. Before they left they thanked the police and CTV (?). They didn’t thank the CBC. They will be back tomorrow expecting to be joined by an eastern convoy. Lots of police but the protesters including me I guess were warm and friendly. No broken windows or black ninja headscarves.

  25. Just got back from Ottawa. Lots of trucks blocking Wellington, and the airhorn blasts were quite musical, but there was a disappointingly small crowd on the Hill listening to the speakers. Quite obvious that urban Canada is going to have to get a lot colder and hungrier.

    Max showed up and spoke….no sign of Scheer (quelle surprise).

    One thing that won’t be covered on TV News tonight: a black fellow in a yellow vest (and therefore, a racist, according to the prevailing news narrative) who travelled with the convoy gave a great speech about coming to Canada legally 18 years ago and how he loved his new Country and hated to see what was happening to it.

  30. The convoy is a good thing, it shows that many ordinary citizens are not with the globalist program to turn us all into wage slaves for the public sector’s convenience. Who knows, perhaps people will go the extra step and start voting for people who understand that and aren’t just pretending to be conservatives.

  31. Western Canadians need to study the regions history. To do so would enlighten them as to the futility of this type of thing and the futility of starting new western protest political parties.
    IE the “progressives”, the “Socreds”, the “CCF”, and the last most successful…”Reform”.

    There is one and only one solution for the west. Get out.
