      1. Thanks. It’ll be interesting to see what else might be in the Kuiper Belt, assuming, of course, that there is a way to make observations of that region. Hubble’s reaching the end of its operational lifetime. The James Webb infrared telescope is years behind schedule and horribly over-budget. It’s even been suggested that an observatory could be placed on the far side of the moon, but that will have its own design challenges.

  12. It is easy to be a pessimist on any political discussion in Canada, given the huge powers of the dominant left-lib establishment. So one could be pessimistic as to the emerging SNCgate scandal.

    But here is a tidbit I just caught off of BNN news this morning (Monday February 11, 2019): the business channel ran a CTV news clip of Justin Trudeau campaigning in Vancouver with a bevy of local Liberal MPs, with Mr. Trudeau blathering away. But the clip also showed former AG Jody W-R campaigning separately from Trudeau and his gang — she did not attend the Trudeau gathering.

    I checked CBC News and the Globe and Mail web sites, and both have so far censored this tidbit. But the CTV News web site has this:

    and check out the fifth paragraph from the bottom. It says this:

    Members of Congress should not be in the business of chastising private-sector leaders for sponsoring events like LibertyCon that encourage civic engagement.

    One presentation caught the ire of a few Democrats in Congress. This presentation, led by Dr. Caleb Rossiter, a retired statistics professor from American University, argued that there should be a more robust public debate about whether carbon dioxide was the cause of the “climate catastrophe.” Rossiter argued there should be a more dispassionate review of the data surrounding climate science, and be more room for debate about causes and effects.

    To Reps. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), this was unacceptable. The pair penned a letter to the CEOs of Facebook, Microsoft, and Google to chastise them for being high-level sponsors of a conference that featured such a presentation.

      1. Wilson was one of the worst finance ministers ever. I remember when he lowered certain taxes for the well-off, saying that there weren’t “enough” rich people in Canada. A few weeks later, those tax breaks were rescinded, presumably because we now had a sufficient number of the wealthy.
