  1. Ms Krause is outstanding … I only wish her voice didn’t sound like she was about to burst into tears …. but I appreciate her thorough dedication.

  2. If I had better internet, I’d watch the video. I am interested in the topic though and have a few thoughts.

The irony is that the only people benefiting from land locking the oil sands is the US. Yes, Trudeau and woke Canadian progressives are the US oil companies best friends. Everyone in Canada loses:

    – The environment. As Vivian Krause explains, land locking has not stopped oil production at all – it shifted production from Canada to the US and MENA.

-Canadian workers. No oil sands, no pipelines means no direct or secondary employment opportunities.

-Canadian taxpayers. Unemployed workers means higher EI claims, higher crime is more court and police costs. The Liberals bought a pipeline that only helped kinder morgan and its shareholders not oil workers or Canadian taxpayers. I wouldn’t be suprised to see that Liberal VIPs were big KM stakeholders.

-Canadian and provincial governments. We’re losing billions in payroll taxes, business taxes and royalties

-Canadian unity. Western alienation is on the rise. There will be protests and referendums. If Alberta leaves, Canada loses about 24 billion per year and the US will court Alberta. If successful, the US would gain that 24 billion plus the rest of Alberta’s (and Saskatchewan’s?) natural resources. Manifest Destiny 2.0.

Trudeau, the Liberals and woke Canadian progressives are getting played like a fiddle by US interests. All because of they’re blinded by ideology, snobbery and petty resentment of Alberta.

    1. Sorry, but your claims are ridiculous.

The irony is that the only people benefiting from land locking the oil sands is the US.

The movement to ban fossil fuels is transnational, and run by leftists across the board: Soros, Steyer, and every left of center party in Europe and Canada. They are to blame, and the fact that it harms Alberta is totally irrelevant. Most of the European lefties pushing it couldn’t find Alberta on a map.

And you are wrong that this benefits the US: the greatest concentration of heavy oil refineries is in the US, and Bitumen from the oil sands would increase their profitability.

By your logic, Justin, and the entire socialist left are working for Exxon. By the same logic President Trump, by pushing the keystone xl, is harming US interests. Your argument is troll level ridiculous, and self-contradictory.

      1. Small c

When Canadian oil is sold to the US at a discount who benefits?

How’s the building of Keystone XL coming?

        1. Troll on, Joe. Keystone XL is being blocked by the left, in both nations. You lefties own it, and, the destruction of Alberta’s prosperity.

In the end, it will be built, unless the destructive left gets its way. Justin and your unreliable Libs will have to throw in the towel.

          1. The section of keystone xl that helped relieve the US oil bottlenecks has been built. Only Canadian oil producers are suffering right now.

          2. small c

Me a lefty? Ha Ha Ha. I asked you a simple question and you troll back calling me a lefty and a Liberal? Take a deep breath and think for a minute.

            small c
YOU wrote “The irony is that the only people benefiting from land locking the oil sands is the US. ” and you also said “And you are wrong that this benefits the US”. So I simply asked you to clarify your apparently contradictory statements.

It seems to me that when Alberta oil is being sold at a discount, the only benefits go to the US. Certainly not Alberta.

When I worked on natural projects in Pennsylvania, my company often had to sell natural gas at $1/mcf when gas was $3/mcf at Henry Hub. The reason? There was a shortage of pipeline capacity. It is the same with oil. I have been aware of the NGO-left policy of land locking Alberta oil by joining with First Nations and mounting legal challenges to pipelines since they told me about it in meetings I attended as far back as 2004. I’ll bet I’ve drilled more wells, built more pipelines and built more production facilities than you have. I am very proud to have worked in the energy industry and am very pro oil and natural gas.

Me a Liberal? NO SIR! (or is it NO MS?)
Me a lefty ? NO SIR!

        2. Try living without the oil Joe. Try starving and freezing Joe, try not eating Joe. You are so stupid I hate it.

          1. old white guy
“Try living without the oil Joe” Well old white guy what has gotten into you? Where did I say we shouldn’t export oil? Huh?

Why on earth would you say “try starving and freezing etc.?”

I’m “stupid” because I ask small c to clarify his statements saying “only the US benefits” and ” you are wrong that the US benefits”?
come on old white guy – you are usually more on the ball.

And as for Keystone XL, I believe it is currently tied up in US courts (in Montana) and I believe there will be more legal challenges in Nebraska. You could see that coming when Nebraska approved a different route than had been applied for. In my opinion that was just setting up more legal challenges.

The NGO-left strategy is delay delay delay. We shall see how hard president Trump pushes to get Keystone XL built. I suspect he has more on his mind right now

          2. OWG “try living without oil”.

Sorry OWG now I get it. YOU want us to live without oil!

Didn’t realize you were a greenie. But you are allowed to be “green”

But while you can try living without oil, that’s not for me.

      2. The talk is transnational but the talk means nothing. Don’t just watch the activists, look at the bigger picture.

Is the US actually curbing their own oil production? No, they’ve increased it dramatically?

Has the US landlocked their own oil? Nope.

Are they making a fortune buying cheap Canadian oil, refining it and selling it at world prices. Yes.

Are most of the anti-pipeline activists financed by US charities? Yes.

Besides Alberta, who would benefit from separation? The US.

Did buying KM’s pipeline add even a barrel more oil transport capacity or help a single Alberta energy worker? No, it bailed out KM shareholders.

How has Canada benefited from landlocking Alberta oil? It hasn’t, at all.

The US has out maneuvered Canada at every turn. Woke Canadian progressives should be on the US oil lobby payroll. The words useful idiots comes to mind.

        1. Canadian oil available for export has increased one million barrels per day in the last few years, without any increase in the pipeline capacity. That new production has had to compete for scarce transportation resources i.e. railcars at the same time as the original keystone pipeline owned by trans Canada has had a 20% reduction in daily volume due to a spill in North Dakota. This has resulted in the enormous and growing discount that Canadian production has to absorb in order to get their oil to market. Transportation costs have skyrocketed.

Here’s an idea: Build Transmountain , Northern Gateway, Energy East, and the eastern mainline pipeline, and reliance on the US distribution system will be greatly curtailed.

But the fact remains, once Keystone XL is completed, the best price will probably be obtained at Cushing Oklahoma, because the gulf coast refineries are experts at refining heavy high sulfur crude like the oil sands crude, creating a low sulfur product that can be sold in the developed countries versus just the third world. And the buyers won’t be Sinopec.

          1. Why can’t we get pipelines? Trudeau’s senior advisor explains why Alberta is being intentionally landlocked by the federal government in Ottawa. Trudeau’s senior advisor, Butts, committed himself to hobbling (destroying) the Canadian oil industry while working for the Canadian branch of a US based environment activist group.

    2. And the complete breakup of this country would ensue, with BC and Quebec following soon after AB and Sask.

That is what’s at stake going forward into this election year; this is not some shrill, the West is sick of this nonsense.

If Trudeau and his paralysis by analysis get back in this is a certainty. He is indeed beholden to foreigners for his power.

Voters out to think about this hard and long.

His father began the dismantling of our federation, which the son will finish.

  3. And our “Professional Parasites otherwise called politicians, will do nothing.
These same “charities” poured millions into getting the Liberals Elected .
The fake conservatives will agitate just enough to get some of that beautiful money diverted to their pockets and everyone in Ottawa will be happy.
Independent Alberta would be the only political entity willing to openly counter attack against this treason.

    1. lol.. until your urbanistes vote in another Dipper gobmint.

Face it, an independent Alberta could just as well be the next Venezuela.

And that is from an Ontari-owing that supports your legitimate gripes.

Western alienation is real. Western separation is a masturbatory fantasy.

      Now, Ottawa separation.

That is to be actively supported.

      1. Ottawa separation?
Very good,as Canada is a “strong and thriving nation, from sea to sea to sea”,so the capitol should be located to reflect national unity.
        Near Baker Lake Nunavut.
What better way for our politician to show their love of country than to transfer themselves to this location.
We need a national referendum on this vital aspect of national power…
        Sarcasm is such fun.

  4. Here’s what I see. The US Trusts and Foundations are being used to facilitate the purchase of Alberta oil at a very heavy discount. The Alberta oil is landlocked so US refineries get a sweet heart deal. Also Warren Buffet owns almost all oil tanker railway cars. So Alberta is being raped both ways. Buffet who Obama loved is making a killing on oil by rail. And the Indians and the greasy BC/Alberta/Canadian politicians have been given MILLIONS to stop the pipelines. And to put the icing on the cake. Trudeau put a ban on oi tankers on the west coast. Trudeau is working for US Big Oil. The Indian Parasites are working for US Big Oil, the greasy politicians are working for US Big Oil. Canada’s media are working for US BIG Oil. Canada’s Fake Environmental Activists are working for US Big Oil. Canadians were perfectly fine with Obama swaying the Canadian Election as well for Trudeau. Follow the dots.

    1. The US Trusts and Foundations are being used to facilitate the purchase of Alberta oil at a very heavy discount. “ Watcher “

Really? Who is controlling George Soros? Tom Steyer? Does Exxon really have a seat on the Sierra Club’s board?

Or is it the left, and only the left, who are responsible for the destruction of Alberta’s economy?

  5. I’d like to again thank PM Trudeau and all Canadians for subsidizing my gas price.
About $2.20(USD) at Costco. We may get close to $2 before it starts up again this summer ? ? ?

    1. US fracking has broken OPEC, and their control over the gas price

Don’t remember you ever posting here, RIMwhatever.

  6. I wonder if Eggleton has received any plain brown envelopes stuffed with cash from Tides.

  7. Under the eco-president, Obama, US oil production climbed from 5.5 mbpd (million barrels per day) to 10.5 million barrels per day.

If the US had the oil sands would they develop them or shut them in?

    1. You’re making up numbers: the US did not top 10 million barrels a day until 2018.

      1. Apologies, I was using numbers my company had in late 2017. We looked at crude and C5plus liquids taken from natural gas, but did not including propane or butane).

Correct crude oil numbers from eia website are:
Jan 2009 production 5.14 million bpd
April 2015 production 9.62 million bpd (peak production under Obama)
So a 4.5 million bpd increase and not the 5 million bpd I quoted. Still a healthy increase.

And just to be perfectly clear small c, this is not an endorsement in any way shape or form of Obama!

  8. The multinational corporate hysteria industry is big business. There is a strange yet unconnected symbiosis (coincidence?) between the goals of the hundreds of organizations funded by this industry and current US Oil interests. Vivian Krause has diligently exposed the ugly network involved proving the conspiratorial nature of the hysteria industry. If it weren’t contaminated by misuse, she deserves the Order of Canada.

Canada, IMHO is their main target because publicly owned resources can be idled without having to buy them (if privately held) which the hysteria business could never afford. The foundations being run by the legacy of idle wealth (think the Spawn) are justifying their existence by turning Canada into one giant preserve by leveraging their cash an order of magnitude beyond what they could accomplish at home. Given the receptiveness of the watermelon media, education sector, green litigators, culture etc, the hysteria industry need only tap into that to influence politicians to accomplish their goals. They’ve owned the last two Mayors of Vancouver.

The Oil industry, as with most corporate entities, have PR departments that are almost useless at defending their business and in fact many adopt the premise of their enemies and end up doing more harm than good (eg. BP – beyond petroleum). Grass roots organizations focused on exposing the funding while promoting accurate information is likely the best approach in fighting the hysteria campaigners. Yellow vest campaign times ten. Our neo-feudal system of publicly owned resources means that all resource developments are controlled through politics. The greens know that, it’s about time rational people realized it.

The hearing proved that Senator Eggleton is an asshole and very likely in the pockets of the green priests.

    1. A portfolio manager told me many years ago that in meetings with forest companies, most of the company people in the room were in environmental compliance.

  9. Following on from John Chittick’s fine comment, what is happening now to the oil sands, is exactly what happened to the BC timber industry.
The environmentalist, heavily funded by Gang Green, destroyed the Canadian ownership, allowing a full US take over.
Since then…nothing,no phoney “War in the woods”total media silence. Just raw log exports and death to the Canadian lumber business.
And make no mistake our treasonous Media Guild is part of the Gangrene.

  10. The same coastal liberal foundations treat “flyover country” in the US as though it were their personal petting zoo. They have used the court system to wrest wildlife management away from the local State organizations most knowledgeable about local wildlife populations, to the detriment of the people who actually live in the petting zoo.

  11. We can throw stones at each other as witnessed above, but the net result is that between the whose who of the Power Corp. controlling us through them owning our politicians and the US foundations buying off the sucker groups in Canada regarding energy resource industry and buying some of our elections the Canadian people are being played like a fiddle.
