  9. Just a few notes about how things go when the power disappears in a big city.
    A lot of people – if not most – are unprepared – houses pitch black with no headlamps or flashlights. Of course the city didn’t want people to use candles – what a surprise – because some idiots burned down their house. Lowest Common Denominator wins again. Of course we ignored it and had several going with some wine and beer and a radio that has a crank if the batteries die.
    Saturday morning some people were ripping through intersections, some because they’re oblivious, and others because they think they’re special. You had to be careful because they could nail you from any direction. At just after 7am you could get around fairly well. By 9 as we headed home, I took back roads with stop signs as much as possible and got home before 930 … with 40 liters of gas for our generator and a big bag of dawg food.
    A lot of people were wandering around the neighbourhood with nothing to do. They probably don’t own books. We alternated power between the fridge and the freezer and some other devices while I ran the mitre saw and worked on my new deck!
    Our power was back on late afternoon after an outage of about 22 hours. Many others will go much longer.

    We have kept our land line phone and it was operational throughout.
    If a multi-day outage was to hit this many city hydro “customers” in January it would not be good. People forget the lessons or know nothing of the ice storm of ’98 or the big outage of ’03. I shivered alone (and single) in my apartment during the ice storm and said I would fix that. I was in the arctic for the big summer blackout but it was not ignored and although my wife was at our home, she got through it fine.
    Get prepared if you aren’t already. You don’t need to have wall to wall supplies like doomsday is coming but if you don’t have a plan then you’re planning to fail and if you think Big Government will save you then WTF are you doing reading SDA?

      and a 1000w gas powerd generator. but get this: I have mapped out and tested a method of ‘pushing’ the voltage INTO a convenient outdoor O/L, with printed reminder instructions which breakers to switch on/off to feed said voltage to a couple lighting circuits.

      the first step for instance is to shut off the main panel switch.
      again, I have tested the entire system to provide at least lighting and the hifi etc. I also have a firepit and lots of firewood some of which is in the shed for cooking if the blackout is lengthy.
      oh, and my land line? old fashioned analog with the phone company providing its own emergency power. I calculate the difference from cheaper digital and claim a tax deduction with the rationale it is in the interests of my tenants in case anyone needs emergency care during the blackout.

      I do what I can.

  10. Here in BC we will soon vote on proportional representation. The Dippers have severely curtailed info on this vote as they have limited campaign funding to $200,000 for political parties and any group wanting to discuss it. The Ballot is more than confusing and I would suggest deceptive. If this vote is successful returning to ‘first past the post’ will be almost impossible.

    It is my understanding that living here in SE BC I could possibly have a MLA representing me who lives on Vancouver Island?
    The Parties will select a huge number of the sitting members after an election. Minority opinions will have an overweighted impact on government policy. The Greens are a clear example.

    1. I am from New Brunswick too, and I agree that the corrupt Liberal party under Gallant is coasting to a very easy win. They have all of the money and power. In my riding (Fredericton South) the race is between the Green Party incumbent and a strong Liberal candidate, with the PC candidate a distant third. And despite this, all the PC signs are being knocked down. I was leaning to voting People’s Alliance, but this past week the Liberals came out with a negative ad, accusing the PCS of opposing abortion. Because of this I am voting PC.

Not just the cynical hangers-on like Svengali Butts, or the old Liberal string-pullers from dad’s circle, like Martin and Chretien, all of whom are pretty much just exploiting the boy for political purposes, but other unscrupulous players involved in certifiably deviant behavior. Justin’s former colleague at the faculty of prestigious West-Point Grey Academy prep school (no affiliation with the U.S. Army AFAIK, but then again who knows), the former minor-league hockey player Chris Ingvaldson, is a convicted pedophile. So was another close friend of the Trudeau family, Ben Levin, a child psychologist who drafted Ontario’s perverted sex-ed curriculum, who himself was, eh, “mentored” (hm…) by the aforementioned John Seeley. Certainly this can be attributed to profound grief over both his larger-than-life, authority-figure old man, and the tragic death of his little brother Michel just two years earlier in an unexpected avalanche disaster (the body was never recovered, and speculation has long surrounded the circumstances of his death). But there’s something curious about the bizarre “Pierre Noel” anecdote he delivers as an opening, where he supposedly met Santa Claus (?) at a base in the Northwest Territories, plus the staccato tremor of his speech and what appears to be the “Thousand-Yard Stare” associated with trauma victims. He looks rehearsed. There’s no “there” there until he breaks down crying at the end and rests his head on the coffin. Cinema verite, non?

    This videoYouTube talks about elite-occult symbolism connected to Michel’s mysterious fatality (gets a little rambling with the connections to Disney movies and the Tower of London but is pretty interesting otherwise). However, it also opens with a clip of Cathy O’Brien talking about mind-control victims’ bug-eyed appearance when reliving (or being “recalibrated” with) their traumas. The guest columnist at Makow’s website, in reviewing Justin’s book, talks about the Santa Claus story as being a potential indoctrination ritual for young Justin. It makes sense once you put two and two together and “just watch him” at the podium as he exclaims, in an almost cultlike manner, as his eyes open bright and wide (like a little kid on Christmas — his birthday! — morning), “It was then that I realized just how powerful my father truly was!” Is he talking about Pierre Trudeau or David Koresh?     Seems that SJWs are attempting to implement an SJW code of conduct into the linux project, and the independent devs have threatened to exercise their copyright over code modules implemented in the kernel crippling the linux project and future development for a very long time.

    Far more serious an issue than it sounds like. Much of the internet runs on Linux servers, which would be unable to be patched without losing a lot of the functionality of the system contained in the rescinded code. Smartphones also are linux based, and there could be no future updates to Android possible for a very long time. A lot of embedded controls in appliances and machinery are also linux based.

    My dear wife played it to me this morning, as I never had heard of Ed Sheeren. Today is sad and bleak for me, since it is election day in New Brunswick, and the Brian Gallant Liberals will sweep to an easy victory. This song tells me there is always positive hope for the future, and we should cherish the hope.
