Not a kinder morgan protest but a useless tent city has sprung up in Nanaimo too. All businesses around the area are reporting more thefts, occupants are overdosing, fighting, harrassing everyone in the area. The only people that are occupying these places are losers. Our legal system is gutless and rendering cops useless to clear these places out.
Hey, Nanaimo and Burnaby knew what they wanted, they deserve to get it.

I drove by Victoria’s the other day on the way to the US Ferry and the only thing that came to mind was Napalm.
In Victoria, the eviction order has been around for awhile but the “campers” are still there.
You see, it’s our responsibility to find them homes. Their right, our responsibility. Welcome to neo (ie not) liberalism.

So,what happens when the victims ignore the eviction notice and call in the TV cameras? Burnaby can’t jail ’em all, so they will get released on own recognizance with a Court date in six months which most will miss, unless they can get welfare locally and then show up for their suspended sentence.
Somebody give them ferry tickets to Victoria so they can camp on the legislature lawns. The Dippers pretend to care about these people, let them take care of ’em right in the capitol.
If the city government summoned the courage to forcibly evict these non-working bums (unlikely), one can bet that the corporate media would treat the lazy vagrants with sympathy.

From our Nanaimo newspaper, on Tuesday. City council voted to refuse to supply water to ‘Discontent City’ – the decision was over-ridden by our local head of health authority who determined the city was obliged to provide clean water and sanitation to the site.
Then the city council decided that $650,000 should be spent in support of a ‘drop in centre’ for the homeless. Surprise, surprise – $400,000 of that was earmarked for 4 new positions at city hall to ‘interface’ with the SJW, errr, I mean homeless occupants. One city councillor claimed it was important that we hire good people in order to “make a difference”. Needless to say, he did not define ‘difference’ but it’s something akin to “we must do something”.
New workers, new mandate, more empire building and nothing accomplished. That’s Nanaimo. Oh, and we’re likely going to vote in a long standing NDP MLA as our Mayor so that he can collect a handsome MLA’s pension along with his new taxpayer funded salary.
I do hope the whole bunch of social activist/city councillors are thrown out on their butts this November.

Maybe when you turf Daryl, his brother Daryl will take over. Or maybe his sister Daryl. The new Daryl will only create 13 new positions at city hall, rather than thirteen like the unreasonable old Daryl.
