Best Canadian Blog
2004 - 2007
Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

He grew up in Fairview, Alberta and started his post-secondary education at Grande Prairie Regional College.
That’s rather cruel of you to suggest that that’s why he’s a repellant person. I’m sure there are decent folk in Fairview.

Certainly a better way to kill 75 minutes than watching any other Tv offerings.

Peterson is an absolute wordsmith and class act.
Dr Peterson is a great thinker. His wisdom is impressive. We hear him talking to brillant university students, however I would like to hear him having a 3 hour conversation with someone of proven approximate brilliance, for example, Stephen R. Covey ( “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People ” [1989] and “The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness”) His remarks such as ” life is essentially suffering” and ” there is no life without value” have merit. In listening to his Q & A at Oxford Union, it was interesting to see his face when replying to questions. The last question from a Canadian, about Trudeau, when he hesitated a bit, was brilliantly handled because it was a bit of a warning about changing things, sometimes making things worse, not better, in a chaotic world. Overall, I enjoyed this session immensely.
Currently I have purchased but not yet finished reading Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life [2018]. I had it snatched away from me and it has not yet been returned.
(Covey’s 7 Habits has me still making reminder lists to get things done… & I have forgotten what else I read, so I guess I’m not very “effective”…. as far as the 8th Habit- I will not read that book about being “great” because I still have a terrible singing voice and that would be hopeless, heh, heh, I digress, sorry.)
My ex wife has my copy of 12 Rules for Life, I don’t mind so much as long as I get it back good and with some dog eared pages. (not a dig at her, just read it well Teresa).
I wonder who is an intellectual at Peterson’s level to engage in a debate of equals since there must be weaknesses in at least some of his arguments. So far no one has come close and interview opponents have come out looking like whining pathetic idiots.
In this video I especially liked the answer around 1h10min when he was asked by a Canadian what advice he would give Trudeau, our teenager PM, who does not think through the consequences of his actions.
Well Hiker&Canoeist,
I would imagine that Dr Peterson would like to debate some of the people that he was influenced by like: Carl Jung, Friedrich Nietzsche, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Sigmund Freud, Jean Piaget, Mircea Eliade, and Erich Neumann, if it were possible.
For now we’ll have to content ourselves by attending Dr Jordan Peterson’s ” 12 Rules for Life” book tour lectures. He will be appearing in many cities, for further info : https://www.ticketmaster.ca
( he will be in Calgary on Friday July 27,2018 @ Jack Singer Hall check online for further info )
