If Trudeau wanted to be universally loved, then he needs to join a different profession. And to echo Edward Teach, I can’t get excited about Trudeau’s feelings on any subject because logic is always absent.
You parliamentary idiots, trying to get someone off emotional balance is a part of negotiating strategy. Can you concentrate on what at stake in this game?
At least it’s good to know the Laurentian elite is no different than the Beltway folk. They think he actually cares what other non-Americans think.
This country is so screwed. If only we could speed it up…..
No doubt there were some in each party who were looking around to make sure all were enthusiastic enough about supporting the cult of personality.
And behind closed doors Gerald Butts is absolutely laughing his head off at how easy it was to get the entire House to come to the aid of his brainless puppet.
Why don’t the NDP and the Cons just throw in the towel and go home. Might as well just hand the next election to Trudeau.
Yes. A toss of the majestic mane, straighten the eyebrows and we’re good.
Sadly Trudeau has the entire Parliament between a rock and a hard place, he has no clue and neither do most of his Cabinet.
We are in a lose, lose situation thanks to rank stupidity across the board.
We are not in good hands.
Trump Threatens People of Canada With the Loss of ‘A Lot of Money’

So parliament has united in defense of 290% tariffs at the same time the nation is “insulted” by a 25% steel tariff.
And to cement the contradiction, they will crow about free trade and NAFTA while completely ignoring the US’s suggestion of zero tariffs on all goods.
But, hey, if 2/3 of Ontario voters can support $150 billion for climate policies while experiencing their worst winter in decades, there really is no limit to self-delusion in this country.
Exactly!
“So parliament has united in defense of 290% tariffs at the same time the nation is “insulted” by a 25% steel tariff.”
US dairy farmers get 72% of their revenue from government. Why wouldn’t we tax out the subsidy? Dairy wasn’t part of NAFTA because the support in both countries is fairly equivalent. Both sides entered NAFTA with a full understanding of the dairy industry. The US has quotas on how much Canadian Dairy they will accept.
It amazes me how many people confuse subsidies and tariffs.
Canada levies a massive tarrif on imported dairy with the express purpose of keeping imported dairy to an absolute minimum. This ensures that the Canadian diary cartel can overcharge Canadians and limit choice. The tarrifs are not in place because of any subsidies the Americans might offer their farmers. The cartel simply doesn’t want any foreign product coming into Canada whether it is subsidized or not.
Exactly. There is a big difference.
Tariffs are a response to subsidies. Never heard of a countervailing duty? I recommend Economics 101 or “Economics for Idiots” at least.
All subisides and subsidies everywhere must be removed, the we can tackle big government that causes non-tariff barriers, the real fly in the ointment. In fact limiting government is an overriding criterion.
Trump’s not interested in cherry picking tariffs, despite him doing so; I never said he was perfect.
But reality is he is the big dog, the strong horse who will get his way.
We have way more to lose than win in some ridiculous trade war.
Meanwhile protectionist Europe and China are laughing all the way to the bank. Truth be told though, they are for more connected to real politics than Trudeau, Parliament or the Canadian people
But Trudeau could benefit politically and it is very disappointing to see the Conservatives enabling this.
Soy Boy showed his true colours. Only qbec matters to him. And apparently, to Scheer. Friggin Idiots
The average net worth of a Canadian dairy farmer is 5 million dollars. We pay for their lifestyles of the rich and famous with higher prices on dairy.
Of that $5million, how much is tied up in ownership of the quota?
Why not ignore Trump like big people would? Why expand the fight? Congress isn’t going to kill NAFTA without a replacement. Smile at Trump and countervail and appeal his every move. Keep Congress from allying with Trump.

I’m just SO proud to see all our parliamentarians stand together for our beloved Prime Minister! If the PM was a Conservative, the Liberals and Dippers would crucify him in the media, not give him a standing ovation in the House.
It’s Team Trudeau in 2019, probably will win around 200 seats, maybe more.
The Canadian Establishment must be ecstatic this morning, both of their lackey Parties have shown them that obeisance is paramount, the status quo is safe.
But Scheer will lead the not-so-loyal Opposition, which will please him immensely.

Mr. Trudeau, sir, you do not represent me or my views, so stop acting like you do, or even care. Your position in government does not give you the right to speak for me or claim that you do. You have never asked me what I think, so stop behaving like you know.

“Mr. Trudeau, sir, you do not represent me or my views, so stop acting like you do, or even care. Your position in government does not give you the right to speak for me or claim that you do. You have never asked me what I think, so stop behaving like you know.”
Trudeau’s merely acting just like a Liberal. For as long as I can remember, and admittedly I’m only in my 40s, Liberals have been proclaiming that they and they alone know Canadian values, speak for Canadians, do what’s best for Canadians, blah blah blah. Anyone who disagrees with them or dares to hold another view isn’t just wrong, they’re flat-out un-Canadian. It’s really quite revolting, has always been so, and will always be so, because this country can’t grow up enough to eject these repulsive fools from our political space and condemn them to the ashheap of history where they belong.
This country has no leaders. Certainly not in any positions that matter.
No you have Owners. They are the British Royal family who administrates their POSSESSION of Canada through the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada. You are technically a Subject. There is legally no such thing as a Canadian citizen.

Those knuckleheads who attempted to re-negotiate NAFTA had no idea of what they were doing. What this country should have sent was a bunch of old-fashioned horse traders who know how to haggle.
For example, I’m in the process of settling my father’s estate. I’ve sold some items to neighbours and one of the first questions they asked me was how much I wanted for it. Since I didn’t have an idea, I answered that they should make me an offer. As it turned out, they suggested what I thought was a fair price, but, if I actually had a price in mind, I would have done some dickering.
