I don’t know about AB, but local RCMP here in BC have told us that they can’t be bothered investigating most property crimes, anymore. It will be curious to see how long before an arrest is made here, since the investigation has apparently already been done for them, then lain at their feet.

You obviously know nothing about the RCMP. They are much more useless than that. After we identified a guy in a video (with a mask) for stealing what he told people he was going to steal the porkers didn’t even talk to him. Another time we and others reported someone who we positively identified as having stolen several thousand dollars of stuff. It took the oinkers 2 weeks to arrest the person and everything was long gone.

The local RCMP didn’t give a carp when two local teens broke into my garage to do drugs with faces fully on surveillance camera. They’re beyond useless and only protect criminals.
It is indeed nuts, which is pretty much the point I was making in my original post.
Now, combine that with the reality that if we take some steps to protect ourselves or our personal property in the cops absence, we victims of crime will risk in turn being charged as criminals.
The system is right frigging upside down.
Cops in general prioritize money-making ie drug “crime” and the cash money they can confiscate from it. That’s profitable, unlike investigating real crimes.
