What’s The Opposite of Diversity?

Rain MenDuke University history professor Nancy MacLean argued that conservatives and free-market libertarians often “seem to be on the autistic spectrum” during a lecture she gave last week to promote her new book.

  1. “Autistic spectrum” – five syllables without any meaning. Add another syllable, though, and we could have a tidy line of iambic trimeter(still without meaning):
au tis tic spec trum go
au tis tic spec trum no
au tis tic spec trum stop
This machine wants to correct “trimeter” (sound spelling “try meter”) as “trimester,” which is annoying. We are blessed with 1,500 years (which can be argued by a century or so) of English, and this Orwellian telescreen wishes to deny that.

  2. People who don’t agree with me are stupid? She isn’t breaking new ground. Isn’t that what every stupid person believes?

  3. People like McLean, who are so filled with self-loathing they need to denounce everything about the culture which created them, need to put on the hair shirt and leave the rest of us alone.

  4. Mack, I think you have asperger’s. LOL !!
anyway, allow moi, mr aspie to weigh in on this byATCH’s assessment.
fcuk off you pompous snot. you have utterly NO comprehension of what you speak.
what, is this *another* way we aspies will get the shyty end of the stick?
today’s skill testing question, you callous indifferent SNOT, take an inventory of the movers and shakers in history (YOUR area of specialization) who clearly by their ‘lack of graces’ etc were aspies. let me start the list:
    – Albert Einstein (duh, who dat?)
    – Howard Hughes a BRILLIANT engineer
    – Jimi Hendrix (oh ya, I can tell)
    – oh look, Bill Gates. you’re all in good company
    etc etc: https://www.appliedbehavioranalysisprograms.com/historys-30-most-inspiring-people-on-the-autism-spectrum/
this is when it gets personal with the lefties. anybody got a match? I got a fcukin’ bridge to burn.
and a heartfelt thanks to Kate for providing the forum for me to weigh in.

  5. Words like Aspergers and Autism have become so diluted as to have become nearly meaningless. By RE-defining these pathologies to include virtually everyone not centered on the psychological bell curve … the terms have become meaningless. And why does a society so urgently need a redefinition of these terms? Why VICTIMHOOD of course. The more VICTIMS you can scoop up into your group … the more $$$$$ you can demand, claim, and obtain.
It’s like “asthma” and global warming. Suddenly every urban-dwelling black child has asthma. It’s an absolute epidemic that DEMANDS the social justice of a carbon $$$ tax on BIG OIL and an end to fossil fuels!! Think of the children! Get the EPA to act! To which I say, show me the pathology. And no, I don’t trust activist Doctors, like those with no borders, to report the pathology honestly and free of agenda.
We are being LIED to. In every way, every day. FACTS have simply GOT to be found and reported if our western society is to survive.

  6. Make them live up to their own standards.
    Embrace your victimhood.
    Victims are a visible minority.
You are the university provost now.
Where that victimhood like a skin suit and demand respect.

  7. Hey, we need a Cigar Store Indian with no experience for a virtue pose position. A Cigar Store Muslim will do too.

  8. Must be my autism or Canadian Nazi ideology that made me post this here instead of the Dal post.

  9. Actually she is not self-loathing, she much more dangerous than that. She is one of the advance guard of the Frankfurt Schools Antonio Gramsci soldiers whose aim is the destruction of western liberal democracy and replace it with a Marxist cultural hegemony.

  10. On the political spectrum, libertarians are the opposite of authoritarians.
How many millions have been killed by authoritarian leaders of communism, theocratic rule, fascism and pre-democracy monarchies? But, hey, I’m sure their intentions were good and compassionate.
What have libertarians done? Oppress millions of people with the idea of personal choice and economic freedom, individual rights and personal responsibility? If that’s autism…I’ll stick with the autistic libertarians.
Libertarian political slogan: I want gay married couples to have the right to protect their personal marijuana plants with guns.

  11. Universities are the perfect example of how the desire for empathy and compassion inevitability becomes warped and leads to authoritarianism and the erosion of rights. Universities would be vastly improved by an infusion libertarianism/classical liberalism ideas.

  12. Ummmm…. does this mean that as a conservative I can now apply for zero entrance requirements for her school, and funding support for a lifestyle of largess not available to me when I first went to college on my own dime?
    Woa…. back off, Self…
Heck, now I can see the appeal of free stuff to the LIV victim industry. Almost wanted to wear the label just to get the freebies there.

  13. Channeling Emily Littela from SNL:
“What’s all this talk I hear about librarians with autism…never mind!”

  14. Very well said, Kenji.
We all gotta have something now eh?
Hopefully a cluster, yunno like ADD and dyslexia.
To advertise our special SPECIALNESS for heroically enduring.
Heard a ditzy lady on Co-op radio the other day here in Vancouver LotusLand.
She was talking about some kinda pop psych meetup she attends.
She said she was “trying to be vulnerable”. She did, honestly.

  15. this dyslexic walked into a bra…………………
a friend bought me T-shirt, dyslexics are teople poo:-)))
    and yes, I wear it!!!

  16. YES, YES, DOUBLE YES. Make them not only live up to their own standards; make them pay for them as well!

  17. Opportunity. They want to label you? Take that label and run into the end zone. They can’t shame you once you are a victim…

  18. I suspect that the incidence of psychosomatic illness is at an all time high … as desperate citizens try to replace God with … something? and bring meaning to their miserable lives. Even if that “meaning” is that they are “crippled” is some way. That absolves them from ANY personal responsibility for their miserable lives. Our society is going slowly (maybe rapidly)nuts.

  19. Kenji, two things, they are proscribing drugs as a means to replace ‘discipline”, and I know as many, or more Christians, who are nut jobs as non Christians , so your replacing god comment fails!!

  20. She couldn’t even get the slur right. She called her opponents autistic, and then started rapping off traits of sociopaths. Takes one too know one I guess…

  21. This is leftist academics attempting to use “science” to lord their imaginary superiority over anyone who isn’t them. It’s rather like atheists are smarter than religious adherents and other bits of rot that can’t be substantiated.

  22. I know someone with Aspergers and he supports the Liberals. Of course that does not prove anything either, but I just thought I would throw it out there. These are anecdotes, not proofs.

  23. If we’re on the autistic spectrum, does that mean our disability entitles us to reasonable accommodation on university campuses?

  24. I’m most probably borderline Asperger’s myself. I want to know what’s wrong with that. Think of how much wealth has been created by men on the autism spectrum. I’d include Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, and Bill Gates, inter alia. The rest of the population should be down on their knees every morning thanking God that they aren’t freezing to death, dying of infectious diseases, or starving.

  25. Let me offer my apologies to hisatorybuff for duplicating so much of his post, which I didn’t notice.

  26. feel free anyone to email this snot:
    nancy.maclean@duke.edu
I just need a day or 2 to select the exact phraseology.
hello Iowa, the thing of it is, for me personally, the fact we aspies are socially shunned, requires us to come up with our own ways and means of getting things done.
thus, free of the ‘that cant be done’ mantra, OUR methods and shortcuts are based on thorough analysis of a problem, unhindered by all the second guessing and arm chair critics.
this came to the fore real early in my construction worker phase, devising a method that I would NEVER hit rebar popping big holes in the concrete. it’s called a ‘stud finder’, something I NEVER saw used even once by any of the drones who instead would spend 10 times as long trying to get the hole cut, dulling the bit in the process.
thus, patents fall into the laps of the really successful ones, and ALL of society benefits.
then along comes this byatch snot leftoidist and her offensively INACCURATE stereotypes.

  27. If there is such a thing as “autism”, one of the most trendy diseases of all time, then everyone must be on the autism spectrum, either more or less.
Personally, I think this is strong on the bullshit spectrum.
    Captcha:
calle road (sounds like somewhere in Toronto). How about
    rue street
    chemin road
    boulevard boulevard
    avenue avenue
    all possible streets in Ottawa
My personal favorite is the Edifice Building, just on the corner of Chemin Road and Rue Street.
