CTV now reports that accuser of Patrick Brown recounts key piece: she was not underage in bar and not in high school but she "stands by her core story" and CTV stands by their original story. In a court of law this would shred a case. CTV credibility is on very, very thin ice.

Seems pretty clear this is what has happened.
CTV did not vet the story, speak to witnesses or to the alleged perpetrator. They just published a story told to them.
There appears to be a conspiracy between the accuser and the CTV reporter. CTV management seems to think there was. It is believed that the reporter has been suspended. If that’s true, CTV management is going into CYA mode.
What’s WRONG with all of you … “women MUST be believed”. Didn’t you know that? Any MeeToo’er MUST be believed! So just STOP trying to disprove their fuzzy recollections. Any misstatements of minor details of the sexual assaults against them must have been caused by the trauma done to them by evil … men.

The problem here is that the withdrawn pieces are what gave the story its emotional impact.
I read the CTV report. If you eliminate the unsubstantiated claims it basically states that Brown did nothing illegal and treated the women with respect.
Since the names of the CTV reporter and one of the accusers have been plastered over the net for about 3 weeks, Brown and everyone in Toronto media and Qeens Park know who is involved. I have been waiting for him to sue the pants of both them and CTV, but it cannot be that simple, otherwise he already would have. I have seen no admission by CTV or other news sources that the reporter has been suspended, just blog reports.
It is pretty clear that part of the tale is embellished, always was really and once part of a story is retracted, all credibility goes with it. For the accuser to complain now that she was
“subjected to victim-blaming and misogynistic (comments) … my character was assassinated.” is rich indeed.
Should have thought of that before the story was concocted, and what of Brown’s reputation?
The story will come out either in court or the media and I don’t think her character will look very attractive when it does.
Although I’m glad to see Brown gone, this is a perfect example on how the Liberal Party media will sink to any level to protect their favorite party. Both Bell Media(CTV) and the Toronto Star are going out of their way to keep the Liebranos in power.
How can you have a core story left if your story started with “I was underage and in high school”?

This would have had a much larger impact politically had it come out just prior to the election. That it’s come out now – fortunately with sufficient time to get new leadership in place – suggests to me that the “story” had leaked, so CTV had to run it while it had some putative value before being scooped.
I hope Brown is vindicated, and CTV is taken down a few notches. Regardless, he’s a gutless leader and would have been a terrible choice. This is a win for Ontario, and Canada.

Brown has upped the ante and challenged the accuser to report the incident to police. He has also stated that the CTV reporter knew the accuser “socially” (actually that she knew both accusers).
A full report with names now seems inevitable. Other TO media will be forced to report on this, even though they would sooner forget it.
I’ve always felt that this decapitation of Brown, was as much, or more of, an attack from the Federal Liberal Party as it might have been from the Prov. Liberals.
