If I may add my two cents. No doubt some of you might think One Trick Kulak. While reading and listening to the material presented by Robert the thought occurred to me that I have seen this before, not literally, but on paper.
Not to brag or blow my horn, but I have close to 200 Russian history books in my library. Almost all are by recognized historians who are or were recognized authorities in their field of study. Some like Richard Pipes were advisors to governments during the cold war. I have read everyone of those books and parts of some more than once and have been used as background resource material for the four family history books I have written.
What has been happening in our universities across North America to stifle free speech and any opposing views to the entrenching of Marxism and seems to be escalating in intensity. Thank goodness there are a few brave warriors like Jordan Peterson and Lindsay Shepard and possibly others attempting to stem the flood.
However, the increasingly more open Marxist controlled events in our higher learning schools is not new. The same thing happened 100 years ago in Russia. What has and is happening in our schools has just been slower, more subtle, and thus more insidious in nature.
Prior to the Russian revolution there was a covert socialist/Marxist/Bolshevik presence in Russian universities. After Russia entered the Great War the agitation in the schools increased and became more overt in the late fall of 1916. When the February revolution broke out and was successful the radical left took over all the schools. Then, after the Bolshevik coup, the effort to expel any opposition by professors and students began, and by the spring of 1918 the Bolsheviks took direct control of the schools.
The troika that Lindsay experienced was the standard method of operation and control in the schools and enforced by the Komsomol under the direction of the education commissary.
So, what happened in Russia in a relatively short time frame has been happening here slowly over a couple of decades and basically come out into the open only recently.
Make no mistake, after they shut up Jordan and Lindsay they will get around to shutting us up. Bill M-103 and the federal refusal to help pay for summer student help unless you tick off the box expressing obedience to full on abortion is all a part of turning up the heat on the pot with the frog in it.
Let’s hope a sufficient number of Canadians will seize the warnings that the likes of Ken and Jordan Peterson and Mark Steyn have been proffering for years. The sheeple are likely too far gone with the “Progressive” indoctrination to wake up though.

Not to argue against your premise Ken, but there are some notable differences between then and now. Then, power hungry elites pushed the envelope, BECAUSE they could. But in the last 40-50 years it is just the result of a model that can be mathematically explained. Understand human behavior is also critical here. Lefties lean toward getting “education” that qualifies they for non-physical labour type jobs. Once you achieve a 51-49% balance in any model, it will most likely skewer to the 51 %, and this is what happened in government, schools, and large corporations.

The polite description of the marxist takeover is progressivism. They control education, the MSM and the government bureaucracy. Reading William Randolf Hearst’s account of the communist attempt to takeover his newspaper is a eye opener. Also Reagan’s fight to take back the actors union in Hollywood. Nope these efforts weren’t about organizing field workers.
The biggest scare the communist ever got was the McCarthy hearings which really started to show how much the USA had been infiltrated. Was it not Gorzenko who explained how the Russians placed agents in the education system and slowly began influencing future decision makers?
How will this all end? I suspect it comes to a head during the next financial crisis. Fiscal conservatives will try to reassert sanity back into the system and the Communist will restart the classic class warfare rebellion.

I am heartened by Jordan, Mark and Lindsay taking a principled stand. Lindsay had self described as a progress, left leaning, but with an open mind to hearing differing points of view. Mark and Jordan have been fearless warriors in standing up for there principles and showing an open willingness to debate all issues without personalizing them and turning them into attacks.

There are so many boxes to check that we have no real clear thought anymore, because people fear they will be labeled, without any proof. Guilt by association and guilty before proven innocent.

I am not as well-read as Ken Kulak, but I have observed the same things over the past two decades. There is no longer debate and discussion of ideas. The intent is to stifle any speech that does not suit the narrative chosen by the thought police. It is frightening to witness just how much control and power they exert–all by infiltrating the institutions that should be sources of enlightenment and reasoned discourse. When did we go from debate and reasoned discussion to making it against the law to hold certain opinions? How have we let ourselves be trodden under the boot? Make no mistake. The scary thing is that 90 percent of the population has no idea that this is happening. I don’t consider myself to be right wing, but a fiscal conservative, libertarian at heart. Everybody should be allowed to do whatever they want, as long as it does not adversely affect anyone else. Unfortunately, virtually everything we do affects somebody else in one way or another. So I agree to follow the rules and regulations like everybody else.
But to almost everybody in my family and friends I am a right wing redneck because I don’t adore Justine and the rest of the children in the Liberal party, and I don’t think bringing people who have different values into the country is a good idea.
I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1979. There were very few jobs available in Saskatchewan at the time, and almost all of my friends and classmates moved to Alberta and thrived and became prosperous. I was one of the few suckers that stayed. We were 20 years behind because of our socialist NDP government. It was like a lost generation due to socialism. We are still working to slay that dragon today. It wasn’t the great depression, but it was eye opening and sobering at the same time. Socialism will wreck this country no doubt.
I can’t see that we can stem this tide. Three out of four people I know think we are on the right path, and that Trump is Hitler or Stalin or worse. We can only hope for help from above, although even the pope would have us believe that the creator is a socialist. The cards are really stacked against us.

Thank you Robert for posting my comment. I did not expect to be featured so. My original comment had fear behind it. Oh not for me as I am closer to 76 than I am to 75, but for my children and grandchildren. I fear that they will be going through the suffering and death that their great, great grandparents went through.

Shawn, I have most of Alexandr Solzhenitzen’s books. He survived the camps, my great uncles and great uncles-in-law and other family members did not. They are buried in nameless mass graves in the Perm region.
The damage to people that have been through the aforementioned wars and camps is transferred to their successive generations. I am a boomer and some of my classmates and later acquaintances had parents who survived the second world war. These sweet ‘kids’ were afraid of their own shadows as children. They are a quiet, cautious, and vigilant group of people. Two of my friends’ dads committed suicide in the 1960s. These kids are grandparents now and they, their kids and grandkids have become well educated and contributors to society in many positive ways. Their ancestors would be rolling in their graves if they saw what is going on now.
I am hopeful for a turn around away from these misguided politicians. They are sociopaths.

Just another riff on what Ken so aptly wrote.
The hard part is that the left/feminists/progs are invested in their ways. Financially, emotionally, intellectually, religiously. Changing their mind, or investing your time into doing so, is impossible since it would show them to be wrong on every level on every thing in their lives. You’d have an easier time telling your local five point Calvinist Reformed Baptist that there is no God.
They know nothing else anymore. They don’t believe in God but gods. God of diversity, god of thoughtcrime, god of socialism, god of egalitarianism. They have no basis of being able to live if shown the actual error of their ways. It’s why they fight so hard to shut down anything/anyone that tries to be different. It’s similar, in more ways than one, to Islam. Try to show a Muslim what Christianity is or how Islam’s many errors affect their lives. They’ve been fed lies throughout their lives on how Christianity is sherk (idolatry/polytheism), that Mohammed was the prime example, etc. They can’t process it (to start with, some do….) because their very worldview is set on Koranic infallibility, on Mohammed’s life, on a fundamental misunderstanding of who Christ is.
Canadians are too stupid to seize any warnings.

History here, is that a financial crisis happens during their tenure, but it’s everyone else’s fault. I anticipate this again, likely due to imposition of the carbon taxes, transit taxes, and world oil prices forcing gas over $2 a litre. Simple things like this turn the tide for LIVs. Until them, yes it’s concerning. We have an electorate infatuated with PM Soy Boy, despite the continuing, horrible choices and terrible positions his government takes on all issues. The ballooning deficit, the bribery largesse to CBC and the progressive media planned and happened, the Islamic infestation, FN bribery, screwing up NAFTA with childish demands, blowing TPP off by his public no-show to leaders, his total lack of financial acumen as to how this country works, a blindingly naive view on what ethics and morals are, the list goes on.
When the SHTF, usually in people’s pockets, it will get ugly, but what will the impetus for that be?
