  1. David Akin in the chief political correspondent for Global News? I had no idea really, not being a fan of most Canadian media folks. When I read through his Tweeter account it appears that he may work for the CBC or TorStar. They support the same things, point their finger at the same people and mock, go to the same parties and can’t give a solid reason as to why they should be in separate buildings.
And when I speak to my (Liberal/socialist) family members in Saskatchewan, they seem to think that Global is “right wing” and can’t be trusted. That it isn’t on their team. I can’t see anything in David Akin’s views that would conflict with the Liberal world view. Another Canadian media guy waiting in the wings for his $200k appointment to some board that meets 8 times a year.
Is that David Akin’s job? to ensure the questions being asked of the PM are decent, that the questions are framed in the correct context and civilly brought forth, with nuanced tone…
Are we sure he isn’t an actual employee of the Liberal Party of Canada?
I can’t tell from out here.

  2. I think this fiasco over a heckler suggests that Canadians are not really politically engaged. Most of those attending the town hall just wanted to come away with a “feel good” perspective. It is easy to understand from a human point of view, but no one is holding Trudeau/Liberals to account. If questions from the audience had been in any way hard-hitting, there would be no role for hecklers. It is because everyone goes along with the Trudeau charade (pretending he is actually the PM) that some people are infuriated. Trudeau is not coming to my town for a town hall as far as I know, but if he were I do not think I would go. Like the heckler, I am infuriated with this government, but I could not trust myself to be polite at a town hall — and worse would berate myself if I did not speak out about what many Canadians are thinking. Hecklers are there to signal to people that all is not well. Media chooses to attack the hecklers, rather than look at what their concerns are. Trudeau is betraying our country and our country’s values. We will not recognize Canada by the time Trudeau is done. This is the sad truth.

  3. Who has the line about how Canadian media exists to hold the people accountable on behalf of the government? Seems apt here.

  4. Thought PM Sock Boy’s new BFF was weird? You don’t know the half of it!
From Nazi women and Khadrs to Star Wars and torture: A look at Joshua Boyle’s vast Wikipedia edits
His more esoteric interests soon emerged, including a strange attachment to the “Pear of Anguish,” an old implement used as a choking device. In May 2005 he edited pages on foot whipping, chastity belts, cheek kissing and “Facials (sex act)”.
He later added a photo of a female model in a bra wearing a “ring gag”, an antique picture of a dominatrix, and a photo he took of a condom machine.
He edited articles on the Islamic views on anal sex and oral sex. He uploaded a photo, taken by someone else, of a Judas Cradle, a spike-topped stool used for torture.

  5. In fairness, I remember when Mr Akin derided the Liberal Party ‘truth squads’ for heckling Stockwell Day…oh wait a minute, I take that back.

  6. No one inside the bubble is going to push back against the Sock monkey until some of them see their entitlement cut because of an action by the sock monkey.
Until then the reporting from the “love me” tour will be favourable to the Sock monkey.
Now if you want to force yourself to attend in the off chance you get to pose a question a few guidelines.
    1 don’t rant ever.
2 ask the question so it’s obvious that there is only a yes or no response.
3 don’t relinquish the Mic until he provides an answer hint: state you have a follow up
4 without ranting (see 1) interup politely after the first two seconds of his aimless ramblings to remind him what the question was. Yes he will ramble, he has no intention other than using these tours to do a performance. Keep him from performing by using the job interview approach (serious tone). He wants to perform (unserious) ie: “pardon me but you don’t seem to be answering my question, let me repeat it so you don’t get side tracked”.
5 per 4 premise the question as a serious matter that should not be given a flippant response ie:”Putin will be mad because we beat him at hockey”.
I don’t presume to be an expert, but having watched his behaviour for a while he does not do well when the forum is a meeting instead of stand up performance.
Observe that when he is going into a meeting with the adults he has to wear a suit and tie and mind his manners, it’s outside of his comfort zone and his acting skills are no help when the other attendees know he’s just acting. His preferred venue is the one where he can act and the audience wants to be entertained.

  7. Global News used to be mildly right wing when Kevin Newman was there. But now I would put them to the extreme left. They pretty much openly campaigned for Trudeau in the last election and remember their Cabinet Minister trading cards. If you need to convince someone that they are not “right-wing” just point out the Unifor logo that appears on their news broadcasts.

  8. A senior media hack, trashing a private citizen to support a favourite politician. What a DOOCHE. I think wee David should come out of the metro bubble and let some real Canadians show him what they think of his opinion. In some places you just don’t eat the lobster.

  9. Well said. These town halls are performance art- bongo’s speciality. He’s called upon to go on tour to show the proles he’s actually a nice guy, not the bungling buffoon that looks like him on the world stage.
The tour will continue until he completely embarrasses himself. A very high probability.

  10. If Zaphod Beeblebrox had been the President for Atlas Shrugged, I would swear it was a future prophecy instead of fiction.

  11. Trudeau’s handlers organise these town-hall meetings as quickly as they put out polls that claim Trudeau is riding on a popular high.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
There are more and more of these hecklers and no one can seem to weed them out.
Trudeau has already embarrassed himself. One just needs to wait for the meltdown.

  12. Akin, like all corporate Media drones is part of the team, the Liberal team. Doofy is the “star” of the taxpayer funded show but the Media are also in on the act… The Justine Show is written by PM Anus with Justine as the lead actor, the Media play the role of his hangers on and fart catchers and protectors… The taxpayer funded Justine Show is an ensemble show that simply doesn’t work without the Media playing their role as best supporting actors.

  13. Doesn’t that just say it all. Luberals are the state candidate and the state media support them.

  14. Prior comment vanished.
Dear Wee David might need reminded, The Canadian Media Guild, a band of “courageous journalists” campaigning to save Canada from the Evil Harper..
I notice our comrades of The Guild of Propagandists are really whipping out the old communist textbook.
Demonize all who state the obvious.
Attempt to intimidate all who question.
And unleash the mob on any who do the job they claim as their own, you know objective reporting of the facts..har har.
Their Emperor “Has Nice Hair” is butt naked with respect to ethics, policy and honesty.
The Media Party went all in to sell this Child Idiot to the voters of Canada, this product was sold under false pretences and the advertising company owns it.
I can’t wait until some disgruntled member of the Guild. drops the dime on this comrades, emails of the corruption and collusion that produces the Talking points passed off as news these days.
