  1. Saw some of the 75th annual Golden Globe awards & recorded it for later scrutiny. Looked like it was a show for women & by women. They were ordered to all wear black. It was a solidarity womanfest against rape etc. Looked like soneone died. Wish we can go back to not being so reminded all the time about this topic. Hope the Academy Awards won’t copy this theme. Enough already, with the sexual exploitation. What about the people who’ve been there and are still tormented about this topic. Put it in the movies…it is there all the time…if we want to see this, we’ll go and see it in the movies…not watch the award shows and be reminded.

Canada is in some serious trouble. Unlike many of us thought, P.M. Justin does have the ability to discern between political Islamists and non-political Muslims, the ones not wanting to live under Sharia law.
He makes his decisions knowing who is who. They are deliberate.
M.B., Salafis and the like have an access to him that liberal/moderate Muslims don’t have.
This according to Thomas Quiggin, who was interviewed on Sunday’s Roy Green Show.
For Canadians, this is a 5 star book, your quality of life, fed/prov/municipal budgets are being affected. There is a reason why suppression of free speech, poltical speech is such a priority for the Trudeau Liberals.

  3. All Hollyweird award shows are just ego-stroking for “stars”. And a waste of time for anyone else.

  4. Yes they are I agree. It’s sorta like a guilty pleasure tho. Do you watch sports? Is it a waste of time? I like American Pro baseball, it’s the perfect game, but a waste of time too for me but not the players, they make big bucks… get my drift?

  6. The book “Fire and Fury” is another tool for the media to go off on Trump. We keep seeing stacks of the thing and people lined up to purchase it. It’s going to be hot in Hollywood and I’m sure the Clinton’s will have gotten the first copy, for free of course.
We should soon be hearing it’s going like hotcakes and into it’s second or third printing. It might also be very popular among the Left in Canada.

  7. Come back Jimmiy Hoffa, all is forgiven.
Embezzlement plagues union offices around U.S., records show
As the UAW, Fiat Chrysler and federal investigators unravel a scandal over the misappropriation of millions of dollars meant for worker training, federal records show that embezzling from union offices is endemic around the country.
U.S. Department of Labor documents obtained by the Free Press show embezzlement from hundreds of union offices nationwide over the past decade. In just the past two years, more than 300 union locations have discovered theft, often resulting in more than one person charged in each instance, the records show.

  8. Pretty friggin’ sad when Conservative Leaders are a major cause of the death of Free Conservative Speech.
Political Correctness and a corrupt media are two challenges the CPC MUST attack head on or we will NEVER regain any influence in this country. I see no real signs from Scheer that he is at all interested in engineering any changes to this country, he seems to me to be yet another trough-seeker who is using Conservatism as a vehicle to further his personal ambitions.
I hope I’m dead wrong, but I have yet to see any sign from Scheer that I am.
    Thanks for the link.

  9. Saw the movie “Darkest Hour” yesterday afternoon. It was excellent! My sister and I came to the same conclusion – Donald Trump is channeling Winston Churchill from May 1940 when he had to deal with Neville Chamberlain and Lord Halifax trying to undermine him while he was dealing with the lightening takeover of the Low Countries and France by Germany and the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Forces from Dunkirk. Winston Churchill not only survived, he “thrived”! I am looking forward to more good news in 2018.

  10. My understanding is that Scheer did not demote Bayek for her views, but because of a particular letter posted which involved a racial slur. I think you can get pilloried (certainly by the media) for that. Now the left tried to make out that her views are the problem. Her son is right — many people share those views.

“Madison “Mad” Sale was born in Toronto on December 29th 1910.
He grew up in the Toronto Beaches area. After graduating from the Danforth Technical School, he started working at the Toronto Telegram Newspaper (then known as the Evening Telegram) in 1928 as an $8 a week layout artist. He would continue to work at the Telegram until it closed in October of 1971.
Madison began his career as a cartoonist but soon gravitated to photography where he continued this trade for the rest of his newspaper days.”
“The Collapse of the Honeymoon Bridge
On January 23rd 1938, a sudden wind storm on Lake Erie sent a deluge of ice down river and over the Falls. Within twelve hours the river below the Falls was jammed with ice of such enormous proportions that the ice pressure pushing against the bridge abutments and the hinge supports of the arch caused severe structural damage. It was only a matter of time until the bridge would collapse.
The bridge remained intact for several days, drawing thousands of people who came to wait for the end of the bridge to come.
The end of the Upper Steel Arch Bridge (Honeymoon Bridge) came at 4:20 p.m. on January 27th 1938, when the span broke free and fell into the gorge onto the ice on the river below. The ice had pushed the bridge away from its abutment on the American side causing the bridge to be pulled of its abutment on the Canadian shore. It fell to the river in one piece.”

  14. How would you know what’s in those magazines, unless you read THEM? Ah,ha, ha, ha!

  15. Maybe he’d cross the floor if he wasn’t the Leader….maybe he and his many kids had enough of the Speaker of the House’s beautiful free house, maybe he thinks he’ll become P.M…..anything at all…..as long as there’s a pension. Maybe he’ll say anything at all just to get through the day. Looks more like a follower than a leader. We’ll see, he’s learning the ropes. Wish him luck, and hope that the country will get better not worse, and not poorer and not 3rd world-like, if it isn’t already. Many don’t believe their quoted unemployment numbers, they are higher…..Alberta is toast…they saw to that. Ontario is toast too. Where is the money going to come from now?

  16. Don’t see an end to bongo any time soon unless he has done something really egregious that Canadian voters can’t abide.
His old man was PM from ’68 to 04′ with the exception of 9 months hiatus when jokelark gave birth.
Remember back in 2007 the Beaver magazine (now Canada’s History)conducted an on line poll to find ‘Canada’s Worst Person’? 15,000 voters picked Pierre Trudeau number 1. Did we at SDA help that vote? I can’t recall but it illustrates something of the fickle nature of Canadians. We loved the old man all-the-while despising him.
I suspect the relationship to be similar with bongo. He is one dull SOB as my old rancher buddy would say, not nearly as ‘clever’ as his old man.

  17. “My understanding is that Scheer did not demote Bayek for her views, but because of a particular letter posted which involved a racial slur.”
Please allow me to very slightly alter that concept for you…
My understanding is that Scheer did not demote Beyak for her being racist, but because of a particular letter posted which involved a racial slur.
And THAT doesn’t alarm you? Although I disagreed with many of her points on natives and residential schools, they absolutely needed to be stated. How, IN THIS DAY AND AGE, can anyone make ‘unpopular’ observations without having to wear the racist label as dictated by the left? And Scheer, he folds like a cheap camping chair and YET AGAIN allows the left to ignore the electorate and absolutely control the PC narrative. I don’t expect him to support her opinions, but I goddamn well expect him to support her right to hold them.
You cannot fight Political Correctness by practicing Political Correctness and you certainly cannot tame a hostile/biased media by appeasing them.
LindaL, you seem to hold some faith in Scheer, sure wish I could find me some of that.

  18. RE: Bayek views on Residential School system.
They (SJWs) always claimed that the indigenous residential schools were unjust and a waste of time.
I went to a predominantly white, Christian Anglo Saxon high school where we got our ass kicked if we didn’t behave. I didn’t always behave, and yes I got my ass kicked. Does that mean my 12 years in grade school were wasted because of 2-3 negative experiences!! Some good came out of it. I learned how read, write and calculate.
    Andrew Scheer–grow up!!

“Scientists are waiting with bated breath,…”
    …-
“Scientists are keeping a close eye on the Beaufort Gyre
The Beaufort Gyre, an immense 60-mile-diameter pool of cold freshwater and sea ice, is “stuck” in a clockwise rotation that should have ended years ago.
Its eventual reversal could send massive amounts of chilly water straight toward western Europe, plunging it into brutal winters and disrupting fisheries.”
“The gyre spins in the Beaufort Sea, north of Alaska and Canada and south of the North Pole. When this ocean current spins clockwise, it traps Arctic ice and freshwater melt.
When it spins the other way, it ejects that ice and freshwater out past Greenland into the North Atlantic, making weather in Northern Europe cooler. It is a natural phenomenon, but something has gone awry with the way it operates, as its periodic reversal is way overdue.”

  20. Beyak seems to get it. First of all, neither Scheer nor anyone from his office even spoke to Beyak about removing the letters.
Lynn Beyak, ousted from Tory caucus, goes after ‘inexperienced’ Scheer
“Isn’t it interesting that when the media should be focused on Justin Trudeau’s ethics violations and Joshua Boyle’s alleged ties to the taxpayer-compensated Khadr family, that old letters, on the website for months without controversy, are used to bait opposition leadership,” she said.
“A good leader would never have fallen for such a ploy, but when an inexperienced leader wins by a small margin, and does not adequately consider other viewpoints, some wisdom and common sense are lost.”

“The sudden experience of Leftwing triumph attests that, indeed, utopian radicalism draws its strength from a deep well of resentment that puts it in conflict, not merely with those whom it regards as heterodox, but also with the inalterable structure of reality.”
“The trend of politics in the Western nations since Eric Voegelin’s death in 1986 has made his work increasingly relevant to any philosophically rigorous conservatism or traditionalism.
In particular, Voegelin’s argument that liberalism and its Leftwing metastases constitute an evangelical religious movement, mimicking and distorting Christianity, has gained currency.
The pronounced irrational character of the “Global Warming” cult and the obvious messianism of Barack Hussein Obama’s presidency have together sharpened the perception that contemporary Leftwing politics shares with history’s specimen-type doctrinally intransigent sects an absolute intolerance for dissent, even for discussion, along with a conviction of perfect certainty in all things.”

On February 7, 1920, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the Soviets announced the formation of a State Electrification Commission (GOELRO) under the chairmanship of the Bolshevik electrical engineer, Gleb Krzhizhanovskii.
The task of the commission was to devise a general plan for electrifying the country via the construction of a network of regional power stations. Ten months later, GOELRO presented its plan, a document of more than five hundred pages, to the Eighth Congress of Soviets in Moscow.
The plan, forecasting demand to 1930, represented the first attempt to establish “one single plan of the state economy,” and thus may be seen as a precursor of the Five-Year Plans under Stalin.”

  24. So, our PM has been missing in action since before Christmas. Finally the ski holiday is over. Today he had one day of meetings — I guess to bring him up to speed . . . and tomorrow, it’s off to Nova Scotia for a town hall. When does this guy ever delve into background on issues, solve problems, analyze policies or run a meeting? Short answer . . . he does not. Someone else is in charge in Ottawa (we do not know who). I guess after the ski holiday in Revelstoke the news from Ottawa is that he is in the hot seat on a couple of issues (Boyle, Aga Kahn — so he has been advised to stay away. What better way to occupy him then to send him into the boonies for a town hall. Well, I hope they ask some hard questions in the town hall, but it is Nova Scotia, so I do not expect that will happen. I miss having a real Prime Minister — someone who you know is in charge and to whom you can direct your concerns.
My own MP is a Liberal. I never get policy info related to what the Liberals are doing, or even explanations for why they have done something — it is all schmoozing stuff (so happy to meet with those Girl Guides last month, blah, blah.) Canadians have really been taken for a ride by this crew.

Stunning victory for Bundy family as all charges dropped in 2014 standoff case
Cliven Bundy and sons cleared in case of 2014 armed standoff, a major defeat for the federal government that critics fear will empower far-right militia groups”
“A judge has dismissed conspiracy charges against rancher Cliven Bundy and his sons, marking an extraordinary failure by US prosecutors and a decisive victory for the Nevada family who ignited a land rights movement in the American west.
The Bundys, who led armed standoffs against the government in Nevada and Oregon, galvanizing far-right militia groups, saw all charges dismissed in Las Vegas on Monday. It was the second major court win for the ranchers in their decades-long battle to oppose federal land regulations.”

  26. So, the media is all ga-ga over Oprah’s speech at the Golden Globe awards or whatever the hell they call them. Now we’re going to be inundated with a sickening amount of speculation on whether she will run for POTUS….this will happen, not a doubt in the world about it,she was a lover of the Obamas, she is a Democrat….away we go!

    And the artwork is great.

  28. Further to the residential schools I would posit that there was as much questionable behaviour performed in English boarding schools and the parents were paying through the nose for that. Why the Liberals feel that they have to apologize for Canadians and payout enormous sums of money could be an indication of their own perception of personal guilt. As for Mr. Scheer he’s off to a great start as we get ready to enter an election cycle. If he doesn’t have the stomach to accept that some conservatives hold a contrary position to his then he is not the man to lead the party. As many have said here we don’t need a liberal lite party to vote for we need a party that has a leader that has the backbone to accept the truth on national issues and not some quisling that comes obsequiously to the bargaining table or the polling booth apologizing all the way.

  30. LindaL, I’v had this discussion with a friend of mine, who has worked with troubled kids, and we agree on the “labeling” thing. Kids will often act-out to the expectations they feel the labeling requires of them. Her one daughter was considered to possibly be “border line personality disordered”, but as it turns out the kid is turning around, and starting to act “normal”. I think the kid was just stressed out because of family problems, and so does her mother
