Those tax-cheats and frauds

Update on The Bill to finally break the middle class and call everyone who doesn’t work for the government or large corporations, thieves. it appears that those pesky, filthy rotten farmers got their dander up for nothing.

However, as Mr. Morneau was outlining his goals for reworking the tax proposals within weeks, one of his senior officials was telling Senators the department does not have a plan to address the concerns related to intergenerational transfers.
“We’re still struggling to find another approach to this,” Brian Ernewein, general director of legislation in the department’s tax policy branch, told the Senate national finance committee on Tuesday. “With the consultation period closing [on Monday], we’re hopeful there’s something in there that will give us inspiration.”

Oh….

  1. Or bureaucrat’s last stand.
Perhaps they should just move on to another trial balloon of the “implied rent fed tax surcharge”
again for folks who own their own homes. Was also quite an attention getter in Papa T’s day.

  2. I would love to see the tax rate as a fixed ratio of the GDP. The government would have a restraint on how much it can take in and it varies with the GDP. If the GDP goes up 2% the taxes can go up 2%. If the GDP drops 5% the taxes drop 5%.

  3. Guess I need an updated copy of the old RV bumper sticker … “I’m spending my children’s inheritance”. Rewritten to exclaim … “The government is spending my children’s inheritance” (on the bumper of my Prius).

  4. Governments want inflation.
    1) It lowers the debt
    2) It increases revenue due to the income increase. Eventually even the poorest will be paying 50% tax

  5. To copy Bill ORielly, how much tax is fair?
What amount will satisfy the “need” of our statist comrades?
How much of my labour do they need impressed into serving their dreams rather than mine?
And will this amount be reciprocal?
If my government steals 75% of my return on labour today, will it be fine for me to enslave all government agents to serve my demands 75% of each year?
Has anyone besides me noticed, no politicians consider stealing less.
Be they Cons,NDP or Liars..All are addicted to the crack of other peoples money.
    Which is rapidly running out.
    Sunny Daze indeed.
Meanwhile the data continues to pour in,on the great socialist experiment, more Government = chaos.
While a little structure might be necessary, to convince fools and bandits , a lot is soul destroying.
Funny how antisocial all our socialist comrades are.

  6. So very true. NDP and Lieberals think they should spend it on their cronies and some unnamed nebulous entity like “the Poor”. Conservatives want to give it to big business.
Or, in Kenney’s and Harper’s case, “temporary” foreign workers keeping Canadian wages down.

  7. Robert of Ottawa said: “Eventually even the poorest will be paying 50% tax”
They already do. Bottom third income earners and welfare people get clobbered by sales tax, gas tax, user fees, and especially sin taxes. Those levies on a case of beer and a pack of smokes, they hit pretty hard for the under-$30K set.

  8. So happy I am finally getting the last of my spouse’s extended family and our business interests the heck out of Canada… Closing our Canadian operations, laying off the staff and consolidating overseas. Canada isn’t worth investing in. I think Canada was a fine idea once upon a time, but it will not be business friendly again in our lifetime. Enjoy living under the Family Compact. Elections definitely have consequences
