#3 Do try and not be a jerk in general, and yes, I know that everyone believes everyone else is a jerk on any given topic. For the most part everyone gives and takes in fairly equal amounts. Sarcasm and thick-skin are the order of the day.
If your email spam catcher is prone to catching a word theme, chances are ours will too. The filters have lots of specialized modifications of words, phrases & scoring. Multiple URL’s (> 2) is a big flag. Yes ‘casino’ and similar words will get your score up, as will pharmaceutical phrasing, swear words, various phrases regarding financial scams, and many other spam/scam related phrasing.
We have a fairly relaxed comment policy here and try and keep out of your arguments but sometimes the horse takes all the reins. When that happens action will be taken.
Get vaccinated (for everything). That being said, the death toll in the article was only 200 or so. I found the secondary infections mentioned in that article to be so weird. Hospital acquired?

Good job! Now I know to get vaccinated for the mutant flu.
But watch out — make sure the vaccine they come out with immunizes against the mutant flu. Sometimes they don’t get the vaccine right for the most virulent strain that year.

Flu virus mutation usually involves pigs eating bird crap.
That is why the vast majority of the flu mutations originate in China.
That country’s people and animal population density is an ideal lab for mutation events.
The deadly “Spanish Flu” of late WW1 was an outlier, originating in the USA.
The wartime censors would only permit stories about it in American newspapers
which dealt solely with its impact in Spain.
Flu is not the real killer. It weakens you and sets you up for the real killers, pneumonia, sepsis, meningitis and the like.
Like the folks above said, get your flu shot. Also, get your PNEUMONIA vaccinations! There are two different ones, and you have to wait months between the two.
A good book about the Spanish Flu is “The Great Influenza.” The book talks about how the WW I mobilization spread the flu nationwide, and then worldwide. I was also shocked at how Fascist Woodrow Wilson’s War Campaign was. The literally beat and locked up people that were not sufficiently “patriotic.” They weren’t going to let people dying interfere with shipping soldiers off to Europe. Except most of the soldiers became sick and useless for months, or died because they were unnecessarily exposed to the flu.
If you buy the book, skip the first hundred pages or so. BORING! Philosophical and who was who in the medical field of 1910’s.
