“(t)hey discussed economic development issues, including how American companies can help quickly develop Afghanistan’s rich rare earth mineral resources.”
“They agreed that such initiatives would help American companies develop materials critical to national security while growing Afghanistan’s economy and creating new jobs in both countries, therefore defraying some of the costs of United States assistance as Afghans become more self-reliant.”
Translation: Ghani agreed to let US corporate predators plunder his country, helping America’s economy, not Afghanistan’s, doing nothing to improve the lives of its people, exploiting them instead.
If Ghani balks at any time, he’ll be removed and replaced by a more compliant puppet, the way imperialism works.

In an open letter to international leaders, a North Korean parliamentary committee has called for “sharp vigilance” with regards to the United States, saying recent remarks by US President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) constituted a declaration of war against Pyongyang.
North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho also said that Pyongyang was considering a powerful nuclear weapon test in the Pacific Ocean in response to Trump’s threats.
Speaking before the United Nations, Ri later said Pyongyang was ready for a preemptive nuclear attack if needed.
I was just thinking about this. The problem in US politics is not Trump. It is that people are very divided in their views. The problem is exacerbated by the intolerance of the left. As a general rule, the left does not respect alternative views. A small example, I was reading a review of Hillary’s new book. The reviewer calls Trump a “reality clown” and later refers to him as the “tangerine” president. The left seems to think it is ok to be disrespectful, but they ignore that their comments insult the 40% or so of the population who voted for Trump. I don’t recall those on the right calling Obama “jug-ears” or similar (at least not in the media.) Many Trump voters were not happy with Obama for 8 years, but civil society demands that we accept the outcome of an election. The left is not prepared to do that.

only 49% of Republicans think the religion of Islam should even be legal in the United States with 30% saying it shouldn’t be and 21% not sure. Among Trump voters there is almost even division with 38% thinking Islam should be allowed and 36% that it should not.
Let that sink in for a moment. Many of the same social conservatives who believe Americans’ freedom of religion must be protected at all costs also believe that a faith tradition they don’t like should be illegal.
