I made the mistake of watching question period yesterday. This country is well and truly…well, you can fill in the adjective of your choice.
I further compounded the mistake by watching Le Dauphin in a press conference this a.m. The first question from a Global reporter was such a softball question that anyone with half a brain could easily knock it out of the park. The moron could not even field a question that was meant to put his government in a good light. He stammered out his usual talking points. Even a reporter from Global remarked how he didn’t answer the question and tried again to help him!!!!
One thing though, Scheer could have gone after the twit a lot harder.
Mr Prime Minster: who is John Galt?
Sometimes it’s important to try and see the world, the reality, as other people, like Liberal aristocrats, perceive it.
On this issue, my primary thoughts are,
(a) when a Liberal aristocrat says “middle class” he/she means unionized government workers who are set for life and will never have to worry about money, a class of people Liberals very much want to protect and expand, and (b) the only independent businessmen and contractors the Liberal aristocrat ever consciously encounters (that is, is aware of existing in their world) are appointed patronage and kick-back contractors doing government work, 99% of whom are taking the government for every cent they can get and are very wealthy crooked people…
See? Put your Liberal goggles on and it kind of makes sense.
“Mr Prime Minster: who is John Galt?”
Well, Glenn, if he wasn’t a character in Peter Pan, or Heather has two Mommies, turdo la doo and his voters sure as hell never heard of him.
– Two trust-fund kids, one with billionaire wife, both with billionaire friends are defenders of middle class. The envy among Canadians don’t see that it is the attack by big money on those who are still independent and do well enough.
– The sock boy is standing against doctors, having no idea how the whole compensation structure supports (cracking) universal health care. People who work long hours , under the stress of loosing a license if they make mistake, under even bigger stress dealing with life and death situations are vilified as some robber barons. Doctors, farmers, small business owners are compared to those who just “clocking the hours”.
– They rush this proposal without any considerations for the consequences. Take for example rural areas where they are struggling to attract physicians as right now. For many spouses of rural doctors there are limited employment opportunities, so income sprinkling is some sort of a trade-off for choosing the lifestyle and the long working hours of rural physician. If doctors start leaving the country, retire early or cut the workload to the levels below highest tax brackets, then farming and aboriginal communities will be hit hardest. Of course, the sock boy will be babbling about reconciliation and healing.
Trudeau is John Galt. except with no inventions .
I am here to tell all the Communists and Socialists in power that I have NEVER been hired by a poor person, and barely a few middle class clients have hired my services. And, yes, I am certain that my fees are typically “expensed” against income taxes. Let me make this very clear to all you government leaches … I am NOT a “tax loophole”. My hard work is NOT a means of tax “evasion”. And your destruction of the job creating class will HURT me and my family DEEPLY. The politics of envy are the politics of children. Stealing the toy from one child and giving it to another doesn’t help either one. MAKING MORE toys is the only permanent solution to childish envy.
PM Socks needs to be taken back to be reprogrammed. Butts pulls the string and the same words come out time after time.
@yop
You are wrong about unionized government workers being set for life. The attack on productive section of society combined with cranking up interest rates will put Canadian economy into inflationary spin. Although the civil servants’ pensions will finally be fully funded, the payouts won’t be worth much.
(Note: There are other inflationary forces in play that are out of boundaries of this discussion. Liberals are hell bend on accelerating inflation.)
What a platitudinous pile of farm excrement. Every Canadian Controlled Private Corporation farmer should be spreading their honey wagons on 24 Sussex Drive.
The man-child just keeps hugging his talking points as if some wet nurse ‘blanky’.
The man who would financially disembowel farmers, doctors, and other medium income family businesses; would like to lecture those from his silver spoon trust fund perch.
The PM isn’t just tone deaf, he is intellectually unprepared to lead, other than down the proverbial garden path.
Scheer was dead to rights; this proposal is gutting CCPCs to balance the PM’s self inflicted $30 billion annual catastrophe.
GONG SHOW doesn’t even begin to describe the hapless wonder in the Finance Ministry, nor the ‘genius’ inhabiting the PMO.

The prick has no clue how the system works. I haven’t seen corporation owners make any more money than any other working stiff other than maybe a few percent of them. In Canada dividends are taxed lower than wages because corporate taxes have already been paid on the money. Does Canada really want 75 % taxation.
Don’t tell Americans but a never stated part of the system is Americans pay Canadian corporate tax within Canadian investments but Canadian shareholders get most of it credited back when it is dividended out. The proposal is so stupid that I bet Turdeau had a big fight with the civil service. It disrupts the whole Canadian tax system and takes away the number one reason for rich Canadians to invest in Canada as opposed to friendlier regimes.
Xiat – what’s a, ‘pension’?
I think we’re going to be in for the best fall television seasons we’ve had in years. As Sheer’s chops develop he is going to eat bongo’s lunch.
Bongo doesn’t know who John Galt is because he’s watching the W network hoping to get a spot on the ‘view’.
“The prick has no clue how the system works. ”
Sure he does. He just doesn’t *&^%$*g care.
Misstatements by Mr socks, who is the one who just doesn’t get it:
– the tax system the Mr Trudeau now wants to tweak was not put in place “by the previous government”; it was put in place by another Mr Trudeau in 1972.
– leaving aside the machinations of corporate taxes – all of which have a long standing basis in either tax “fairness” or (almost always) Liberal governments offering incentives to those who incorporate to do the government’s bidding, the “rich” in this country pay far more tax at far higher rates than those “less fortunate” – at every level of income.
– the machinations of corporate tax allow the corporation to conserve wealth and create capital; which, along with a promise to reduce the tax rate on these to enhance this, were once a deck plank of Mr Trudeau’s party and also his campaign. When the corporation pays income out to beneficial owners, these individuals pay taxes like everyone else; often very high taxes. There are provisions to roll over capital at lower tax rates; designed to preserve businesses (the family farm) from the onerous income taxes that are increasingly death duties in disguise. If Liberals still think that supporting family owned business is is a good thing the discussion should be about how inflation is slowly making the amounts allowed less significant. Or maybe they don’t believe in this anymore?
There is a good case for tax reform: to make it more simple and reduce its burden. Mr Trudeau is not interested in this; he just wants more and he knows who he wants it from. If it were about fairness, this would be a discussion about why anyone should be subject to a 54% tax rate, let alone a system so ill-considered that it would compound this up to 70% or even 90% in some circumstances.
And yes, the glum faces behind (and even on) the Liberal front bench tell the story. There is more to come.
Might add that the leader of the opposition comported himself well, and can clearly think on his feet with more skill and confidence than drama instructor who skill does not extend much past rehearsed lines.
Scheer is starting to shape his rhetoric the right way.
The tax changes are a tax on taking risk and entrepreneurship. But more important it is a tell – a clear differentiator between the LPC and the CPC. The former wants to raise taxes and revenues to pay for more government and regulation because they BELIEVE that that is the better way to go. The cpc believes the exact opposite.
The choice next election will be very clear higher taxes, more regulation and more government involvement in people’s lives or the opposite.
Trudeau is giving scheer the weapons to make that argument and that choice a winning one.

There is your election tagline: ‘He still doesn’t get it.’
“Watch the faces behind him.”
Not sure what I was expecting to see but they just looked like smug f^cking sheep-like liberals to me.
Every one of them was probably recalculating their chances at the next polls.
Since governments only collect as much tax as people choose to pay, what will the net result be? Private companies will wage out 100% of earnings to prevent double taxation and then loan the money back to the company. As a result tax will be paid sooner leaving the company with less to invest in plant and equipment.
A Canadian owning a Canadian public company will have no tax advantage over foreigners likely reducing domestic ownership of Canadian companies and more Canadian investment abroad.
I’d say their enthusiasm is neutered, especially noted when Trudeau finished at 7.40 compared to Scheer finishing a minute later at 8.30
Neutered.
Maybe some Liberals have families that are company stockholders? I don’t know any so I’ll leave the guesswork out there.
Hard to believe how many people here think that these decisions were made out of stupidity or without thought.
This is targetted taxation and will not cost the Liberals any votes. It is also a wealth transfer from west to east. This is textbook Canadian liberal economics.
We will all have forgotten about this when M-103 becomes law, stifling free-speech(not without precedence: anti-semitism). A cornerstone of western civilization.
But Trudeau is probably the most physically fit prime minister. He idid well in that army sponsored race. And he’s prudy cute according to liberal fem-males.
“Four years of on-the-job training: he’s still not ready.”
“Maybe some Liberals have families that are company stockholders?”
Well, yes they do. The ones ramping up WeedCos would be a good place to start & from all levels of LPOC-type .gov. Check the board members of some big name corps & you will find that they don’t do startups (unless .gov guaranteed monopolies), because that’s risky & they might have to get their hands dirty. They find sinecures post electoral life. The only reason LPOC Finance Ministers occupy their position is to make damned sure that whatever got them rich is limited to a select few of connected individuals, or corps & continues to shelter them & their riches from the tax man. That is the way the LPOC does business. Red Tories aren’t too far behind them.
What kind of aberrant socks was the worthless narcissist wearing? When do we purge the wealthy kulack Doctors?
Did he actually run this time. A few years ago he ws seen at the start of the race (using someone else`s registration number — and then he was seen at the end. No one saw him during the actual race and there was no record of his time afterwards. I am surprised he would try to use this venue again to get brownie points.
Looking at the faces around Trudeau, I wondering if Scooter Brison is red faced with embarrassment or if he was holding in gas? The spaceman looks clueless along with the rest of them.
Yes, good comment. The Liberal’s middle class is exactly that component of society. Almost every Liberal I know is taxpayer-paid, and quite happy to maintain the status quo.
I am greatly amused by how Trudeau keeps speaking about small business owners as “the wealthy”, while being coy about his cronies in the Laurentian Elite, and the trust fund babies, which class he belongs to.
Scheer handled himself fairly well in that exchange,I’m very happy to see him one-on- one with the Great Pretender.
The look of abject boredom on Garneau’s face is priceless. I guess he’s fully aware that it’s just theater for the masses, but I bet he thinks HE could have done a better job than Pierre’s kid.
Thanks for info – now I know how the other half lives on my dime !
The chatter around the Doctor’s clinics and hospitals will now be split between the newly conservative Doctors and the NDP Nurses. The Spawn has just cooked his goose.
Hospitals must be one toxic workplace environment.
Imagine you are a liberal going into surgery…..and surgeon’s hands are shaking.
Well.
Isn’t that just special.
Ya’d never guess his father was a closet homo and his mother was a whore, would ya?
John, the Nurses, may be NDP…but they work their collective asses off…About the only group of Govt paid Public Purse dependants I will stand by. A couple of them saved my right leg from being sawed off at the groin a number of years ago.
Not many Public paid servants (I use that term very, very loosely), work 12 hr shifts…NONE in fact. 12 on 12 off – for 3 days, 12 on 12 off for 4 days and then switch to nights…try having a life with that kind of schedule. There are few men capable of that, let alone women. Working in the Oil Patch, I am fully familiar with 12 hr days and I don’t have to put up with bed shitters, 350lb obese humans that need assistance, and whiny entitled jerques of either gender demanding this and that at all times of the day.
I have the highest regards for them and are IMO, well worth what we pay them…
just sayin…
Jr is a text book for hypocrisy. Everything he has, his trust portfolio, his job, even his vintage 300SL is inherited from his father. In turn PET inherited his wealth from his father who made it as a small businessman in petroleum retailing. How many “dirty oil” agitators know this? Maybe someone in the media might want to investigate a little.
I’m not a fan of Scheer, but I have to admit that was fun to watch and Scheer hit all the liberal talking points of protecting women etc; which I think conservatives need to do more to capture some of the dimmer voters that usually fall for that BS. They never pay attention to what is done…just what is said.
Maybe if Scheer can take some of the slower voters away from the Libs with that mushy, feel-good dogma he can win some seats in Eastern Canada. Now I just hope he actually believes in some of the conservative stuff he was preaching.
After Scheer forced all Conservatives to support the Paris Accord (only one Conservative MP voted against it) – which gives the LIEberals an excuse for the “tRUDEau Carbon Tax” – I have little respect for him and my MP.
As for tRUDEau, I hope that he stays leader of the LIEberal Party of Canada. If he continues as he is, perhaps the Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, All Maritime Provinces – they ALL have 100% LIEberal seats with tRUDEau as their leader (and the above will not pay the “tRUDEau Carbon Tax” until after the next election) – (and most of Quebec and Ontario voted for tRUDEau and LIEberals.) Perhaps the voters will change their mind.
If tRUDEau leaves,or voted out as leader, then the LIEberals will blame him and not themselves. Sad situation that Canada has to go through this in order to see tRUDEau and his LIEberals as they are.

Scheer is doing well so far. I’m impressed and I’m thinking he could actually win this thing. I know he’s a squish and won’t even govern as conservatively as Stephen Harper but at least it’s not “le current year weed man”.
Canada’s first Affirmative Action Prime minister would normally be considered a FAIL, but of course Progressive Canada embraces incompetence as a strength.
Wealthy Canadians? Like Trudeau whose inherited wealth is not taxed?
This lying sack of sh– needs literally to be punted out of office.
Scheer took him to school there and something became clear to me in Trudeau’s explanation. He really doesn’t understand these reforms and thinks if he just regurgitates all the old speaking points that this will go away. However if Scheer can continue to expose his lack of experience and understanding of the tax code this will make the latte liberal elites in downtown Toronto who do work in the private sector very uncomfortable in trying to defend it as, more than anything else, these folks need everyone to understand they are smarter than everyone else and of a higher order. This is big trouble for the liberal$.
Exactly. I see Morneau was sitting quietly to the PM’s upper RHS, with a rather blank look on his face. He’s the “smart one” on this file & it looks like he is letting Cardboard Cutout show his stuff in the House & to all & sundry. Dumb as a sack of rocks & too stupid to see that the ROC (rest of the commies) are hanging this clown out on this file.
“We” got elected. “we?”
I did notice that Mr. Trudeau had a beautifully tailored suit that complimented his manly physique and perfect hair. It’s going to be tough going to top that with mere words.
Tone Deaf is an apt description here. So, do we assume malice where this can be explained by stupidity? With such a broad brush across many professions, and so relatively little revenue generated, comparatively (250$ Million) this is being presented clumsily, but, it’s clearly to appeal to the hard left and unions.
He is attacking small business people, clearly, the middle class.
POS is another apt description. Hope this pisses off enough soft Lib voters, and to be fair, hard core unionists ALWAYS vote NDP.
This is just crass partisan stupidity
Rules, fairness, hypocrisy, tax “loopholes,” actually giving a crap about “middle class Canadians,” or leading by example, that’s for little people.
“REPORT: Trudeau Receives Dividend Payments From Private Corporation As Part Of Family Fortune.”
I understand he doesn’t work for this CCPC, but he has no problem collecting dividends (through a blind trust or otherwise) while criticizing Doctors et al:
“Trudeau owns 7664699 Canada Inc., which he has put in a blind trust during his time as prime minister but which has also been paying him dividends. His brother Alexandre also has a private corporation, 7664737 Canada Inc. The companies are the primary and secondary shareholders in a third private corporation, 176078 Canada Inc., set up in 1995 to hold the assets of their father, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.
That’s not all.”
According to the report, “Trudeau is also the joint owner with his brother of 9190-0563 Quebec Inc., set up in 2007. The company, which lists its activities as real estate development and the production and sale of firewood, owns a property with a chalet, which once belonged to their father, in the Laurentians community of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard north of Montreal.”
Trudeau claims that he doesn’t have any dealings “with the way our family fortune is managed.”
What’s your point cabin boy? The Doctor’s wife doesn’t either, you friggin incompetent hypocrite.
https://www.spencerfernando.com/2017/09/19/report-trudeau-receives-dividend-payments-private-corporation-part-family-fortune/
Can there be anything more quintessentially lame than an appeal to middle-class Canadians?
I’m one I guess, and I find it utterly ludicrous. At least the communists always put on a brave front of appealing to the “downtrodden proletariat”!
But the middle class? Come off it.
